Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs
The Chinese Room | Frictional Games | Released 2013
The Swine are Rising! In 2010 Frictional Games terrified the world with the cult horror Amnesia: A Dark Descent. Now they bring you a new nightmare. Created by The Chinese Room, the studio behind Dear Esther, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is an intense and terrifying journey into the heart of darkness that lurks within us all. The year is 1899. Wealthy industrialist Oswald Mandus awakes in his bed, wracked with fever and haunted by dreams of a dark and hellish engine. Tortured by visions of a disastrous expedition to Mexico, broken on the failing dreams of an industrial utopia, wracked with guilt and tropical disease, he wakes into a nightmare. The house is silent, the ground beneath him shaking at the will of some infernal machine: all he knows is that his children are in grave peril, and it is up to him to save them. Step back into the horror.

Non Omnis Moriar mod for Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs
Non Omnis Moriar
Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs mod | Released 2016
//And through my work, i will always be remembered, and my existence remains eternal. Non Omnis Moriar.//
My custom story like project for AMFP, a visulization of what i think the Machine for Pigs’ gameplay should have been. It continues the original game’s events in a parallel timeline as a detective’s case story. The mod was first released in September 2015, 2 years after the release of the original game. It keeps the atmosphere of the base game, but focuses more on terror, restores interactions and brings back harder puzzles and the challenge the original game lacked a bit. I’m aware i re-used some structures from the original developer maps, but the thing is intentional, the main point of this mod is to give a picture how i imagined this sequel to TDD could be any better.
Let’s Plays:
Halloween update
First, here’s a video for the occasion on my youtube channel!
I spent the last 4 years playing a shit ton of Dark Souls 3, which inspired my design and storytelling style a lot, while providing a fun time. My recent creations are heavily inspired by the whole series, so i thought why not do the opposite, and inject some Amnesia into a new run for the lolz. I might continue it if people like it, and i feel like doing so.
More weird stuff, my only (and all in all the only) AMFP mod is getting an update soon!
I decided to remaster my old maps from my previous mods, but this one has too much content from amfp to include them all in the release of a TDD mod in my opinion, so i decided to give it an update instead.
I created a menu and improved upon some aspects people didn’t like as much, and it is now an ISOLATED full conversion mod. Thanks to DarkFires for that one!
This might not even be my last mod for AMFP! I’m planning to branch off some small stuff that i find unfitting for Quartz and Cordite, with some concepts i liked but have no space for anymore. Small releases such as these will come as part of my Black Eagle Tavern tales series, below
Also i’m now into porting rebirth entities, some smaller props are already in my assets, and i’ve recently released the TDD version of the lantern.
Quartz and Cordite’s release is now estimated to release sometime in 2021. This should be all for now, i plan to release something before the year end! Stay tuned.
Project name and content change!
The mod started as Slaughterhouse now the final name is decided, and the mod splitted into two halves. The smaller one is now Non Omnis Moriar which basically.
Story finished! Final mapping can be started
It’s been a long time since i updated this mod, but i can say for sure, the final release will be finished this year! Details about it in the description.
Demo released, development continues
The demo is released on the 6th of October, development of the final version will continue. It is likely that it will only be finished in 2015.

Step back into the horror. Like The Dark Descent, this is a game driven by its story, exploration of the world and the constant fear of the unknown. You can expect classic Amnesia gameplay, physics interaction and the signature blend of high-end gaming with low system requirements.
Think you understand fear? Think again. A Machine for Pigs takes both the world of Amnesia and the technology of The Dark Descent to new heights of horror. Built using an updated version of HPL2 engine, the game features stunning visual and environment design, incredible music and audio effects and adapted artificial intelligence. These are all driven by a gut-wrenching, blood-curdling new story, set sixty years after the events of the original game.
Amnesia: Rebirth Modding Support & Tools Are Now Available
Following the release of the long awaited Amnesia sequel on October 21st, Frictional Games have now added mod support and released the editors for Amnesia: Rebirth.
Add Your Amnesia: Rebirth Mod To ModDB
Referred to as ‘Custom Stories’, mods can now be added to the game directly through integration with Steam Workshop or by putting them in the mods folder in the install directory of the game. You’ll then be able to play them from the main menu of Amnesia: Rebirth, making the process incredibly streamlined for installing and playing mods.
We are really excited about this as mods and custom stories have been a big part of the Amnesia community and DNA ever since the release of The Dark Descent in 2010. We’re really looking forward to seeing what creations will emerge from this, the possibilities are limitless!
Back in September Frictional Games made Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs both open source, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Dark Descent’s release. We had the chance to chat with Thomas Grip, the co-founder Frictional Games and the creative director behind the Amnesia series, about the anniversary, his favorite Amnesia mods and much more.
Read more about the news on the Frictional Games website and read on for the rest of info from the latest update (v1.2) for Amnesia: Rebirth.
«In this patch we believe we’ve finally managed to identify and fix the most serious bug we’ve had left to fix – the one where some players have gotten stuck on black screen immediately after the intro. It was a hardware-related bug which made it particularly difficult to reproduce.
With version 1.2 on PC we also bring you Custom Stories and modding tools! This allows you to create everything from slightly modified versions of the base game to full conversions with all new assets, as well as play other people’s creations. Custom Stories can be uploaded to Steam Workshop on the Steam version. See more info below!
Various blockers and other bugs have also been fixed.
The build IDs on the different platforms are:
Custom Stories
Custom Stories are user-created modifications (mods) to the base game of Amnesia: Rebirth. They can include all new maps and assets, as well as replace any existing file in the game. We are really excited about this as mods and custom stories have been a big part of the Amnesia community and DNA ever since the release of The Dark Descent in 2010. We’re really looking forward to seeing what creations will emerge from this, the possibilities are limitless!
Custom Stories can be added to the game directly from the Custom Stories menu on Steam (which is integrated with Steam Workshop), or by downloading them from elsewhere and putting them in the Mods folder in the install directory of the game. They can then be played using the Custom Stories option in the main menu.
Custom Stories are built using the same tools used to develop the game. These can be found in the install directory of the game. The LevelEditor is used to build and modify levels, while the ModelEditor is used to create the entities used in these levels. You can open a few levels and entities from the game in these to get an idea of how things work.
In order to modify the actual functionality of the game, you’ll have to edit the game’s script files. This can be done with any text editor, but an external IDE such as CodeLite is strongly recommended.»
How to get properly started on modding the game is too big a topic for a blog post, so check out the documentation on our wiki for more information: Wiki.frictionalgames.com
