Arma 2 DayZ – самостоятельная модификация, основанная на игровом движке второй части Армы. Перед вами полностью «фриплейный» проект, подразумевающий абсолютно свободу действия: иди куда хочешь, делай что хочешь, но помни, на старте игры ты – лакомый кусочек для более опытных игроков. Для последних твой персонаж представляет особый интерес по причине того, что в начале игры каждому, так сказать, новичку выдается стартовый набор припасов, включающий в себя обезболивающее, которое крайне сложно найти.
Мод «Дей Зи» является игрой про выживание в условиях постапокалипсиса, связанного со вспышкой вируса, в ходе которой человечество обратилось в зомби. Теперь тот, кому посчастливилось пережить эпидемию, предстоит выживать в мире, где кроме ходячих мертвецов опасность представляют и другие выжившие-игроки. В процессе исследования окружающей среды геймер познает всю боль существования в этом враждебном мире, где даже так называемый «френдли» игрок может оказаться настоящим подлецом и ударить в спину.
События игры DayZ разворачиваются на острове Черноруссия. Место это хоть и выдуманное, однако обладает ярко выраженным постсоветским колоритом: дома, автомобили, хозяйственные угодья, фермы и прочие места выглядят так, словно действие происходит в одной из стран бывшего СНГ. Игрок, а точнее его персонаж, на протяжении всего выживания будет испытывать острую необходимость в еде, воде, патронах, оружии, одежде и медикаментах. Суть геймплея сводится к тому, насколько долго пользователь сможет продержаться в этом мире, где каждый сам за себя и против всех.

Arma II: DayZ Mod — ставшая культовым шутером от третьего лица поддерживает несколько режимов игры в открытом мире второй Армы, где протяженность всей карты соотносится примерно с парой любых штатов США. Заходя на любой сервер, вам будут представлены правила, которые должны соблюдаться вами. Дальше начинается игра. Вы просыпаетесь в случайном месте на карте, и у вас будет ранец и, возможно, какая-нибудь дубина, если повезет.
Мир Arma II: DayZ Mod создан не случайным образом. В редких случаях вы сможете выбрать карту из числа нескольких российских провинциальных районов. В мире вокруг вас случилась массовая зомби-эпидемия, и люди были заражены. Вы из числа немногих, кто выжил, потому что на уровне ДНК в вас вживлен код, который не дает вирусу завладеть вами.
Оружия, как и других предметов в игре, огромное множество. Винтовки, дробовики, топоры, мачете, клинки, автоматы и куча модификаций для них отлично работает с медикаментами, едой, водой, новыми рюкзаками, одеждой и канистрами с бензином, необходимых для заправки автомобиля, который может оказаться в любом месте карты. Главное, чтобы он был на ходу, а то придется искать ящик с инструментами.
Игра не относится к хоррору, однако в ночное время становится невероятно сложно выживать. Ваш персонаж будет хотеть есть и пить, а также нуждаться в необходимых медикаментах. Помните, что в открытом мире этой игры — вы всегда не один. На одном сервере могут играть до 500 игроков!

There are many ways to play DayZ, it seems. This guide specifically tries to explain how to play DayZ without downloading external applications that are not on Steam. In other words, all you need to play the game, is available through Steam. You won’t have to go to other website. All you need to play here is to download Arma II, its DLC and expansions, download the mod on Steam and follow the procedures. For my guide, you won’t need to download neither use «DayZ Launcher» if you don’t want to.
I have the utmost respect for the people who created and maintain «DayZ Launcher». The purpose of this guide is to give a way for people to play the game using only Steam applications, and in the case that that launcher is not available anymore, which I hope never happens. But if it does, this is another way of playing DayZ.
While this guide may seem trivial to experienced DayZ players, it is common to see people in the Steam discussions saying they can’t find any server for the game, and this has happened to me as well. Being able to teach people how to find servers in a game where, at first they may think lacks any kind of server, is actually something that is vital for keeping the DayZ community alive in the present and in the future.
For the purpose of my own guide, there is no need to download «DayZ Launcher», which is instructed in the mentioned guide. You can follow all the other steps except that last one.
For the sake of maintaining information for the future, if something ever happens to that guide, I will write here the steps for the proper installation. However, I learned these steps from that guide, so that guide should have the merit of this part. I have also organized it in a more concise way, but the information is the same. I also added a small personal note for a problem that happened to me and may happen to other people, and how to solve it.
1. Download and install Arma II
2. Download and install Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead
3. Download and install Arma 2: British Armed Forces
4. Download and install Arma 2: Private Military Company
5. Download and install Arma II: DayZ Mod
Observation: if one of those doesn’t open when you command Steam to run it, try running without BattleEye, at least for the first time, because in this will it will make all necessary installations before properly running. The next time you may run it with BattleEye without problems.

If you are new to Arma 2 and its anticheat Battleye they are very picky with setup and folder permissions. The following is the easiest way to get everything setup and working properly on most systems the first time:
1) Before installing anything find steam.exe (not a desktop shortcut) in your Steam folder (usually in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam). Right click on steam.exe and run it as an Admin.
2) With steam.exe running as an Admin install and play plain Arma 2 (not Operation Arrowhead) to at least the game menu and then exit. Next install and play Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead (OA) to at least game menu and then exit. Part of the installation and setup occurs when playing each game the first time. Arma 2 OA is an expansion to Arma 2, so don’t mix up the setup order.
3) If you have Army of the Czech Republic (ACR), British Armed Forces (BAF), or Private Military Company (BAF) you can then install and run each of these as an Admin to ensure complete and proper setup.
4) Do not install the «Obsolete» version of Arma 2 OA and do not install DayZ Mod on Steam. These can cause conflicts with the game and DayZ Launcher.
5) Install DayZ Launcher [dayzlauncher.com] to autodetect and download required mods for servers.

After uninstalling and deleting Arma 2 and Battleye folders from the above directories, reinstall step by step as outlined above.
Use DayZ Launcher to autodetect and download mods that are required to connect to servers.
To make Arma 2 load much faster go to DayZ Launcher settings and check off No Splash, No Pause, No Logs and PreFetch Mission.
This will skip the load screens, unnecessary logging, allow the game to run in the background, cache your server missions so they don’t need to be re-loaded every time, and skip loading the default world at the menu. You’ll notice a huge improvement in load times.
You may also manually enter the above Additional Parameters (except PreFetch Mission) as:
Server performance affects your FPS more than anything else. You can have the best PC available, but if you’re playing on a low performance server you will still get low FPS. The fastest server I have found is UWU Jade Groove map, I get 90 FPS on there.
However, the following video and link detail settings that can help maximize your FPS.

While the specific details of setting up your own server for all the different available mods are beyond the scope of any single guide, the following forums are good sources of help for various different mods:
DayZ Mod is one of the most exciting and immersive games I’ve ever played. It’s basically a multiplayer apocalyptic virtual world sandbox without any quests or story-line unless created by the players themselves. You go where you want and do as you want. You determine everything that happens except for the response from other players. You can be a bandit or hero engaging in constant gun battles in the busier towns or you can run off into the wilderness and build yourself a cabin in the middle of nowhere and hunt to survive. There are very few limits on what you can do.
I prefer DayZ Mod over DayZ Standalone for several reasons. One of the coolest things about the Mod is that it’s essentially a game with hundreds of free expansions and DLCs. Because it’s not centrally controlled and developed by a single dev team it offers many different types of games, maps, custom mods, play styles i.e PvP, PvE, RP, and game improvements for free from hundreds of players and community developers and continues to evolve in many alternative directions. Most mods are open source and you can modify them or help develop and improve them yourself. There are Hunger Games type mods to play like Battle Royal where it’s everyone for themselves and you fight to be the last one standing, militarized mods like Overwatch full of heavy military weapons, aircraft and tanks, crafting and base building type mods like Epoch and Origins that allow you to more permanently carve out your own piece of the world and make it your home, survival type mods like vanilla DayZ, and even alien mods like Invasion. With the Mod there are so many different options and environments available for play that you’re bound to find a server that suits you and if you don’t you can even set up your own server and customize it just the way you like. That will likely never happen to the same degree with the Standalone.
Overall, DayZ Mod is a must have if you enjoy PC gaming. Many games are trying to imitate DayZ Mod now, but nothing really compares so far and it will probably remain that way simply because free DayZ mods are community developed by those purely passionate about making cool mods and games while everything else is being developed primarily for profit.

Цель одна — выжить во время зомби-апокалипсиса. Игрок появляется на огромной карте, без каких либо припасов и снаряжения. Придется заниматься поиском еды и предметов, а также обустройством своего убежища.
Процесс выживания проходит нелегко, а любые ранения и травмы, полученные во время боя с зомби, отражаются на здоровье персонажа.
