[APRIL FOOLS!] BlazeandCave’s Advancements Pack 2

Hope you have as much fun checking out this datapack as I did putting it together! The real and OG BlazeandCave’s Advancements Pack will be the one to continue receiving updates as normal.

I will leave this joke version up so that everybody can still download it and check it out.

BlazeandCave’s Advancements Pack 2 is one of the last advancement packs ever created (as of the date this was posted). It expands upon everything that was great about its predecessor by adding even crazier advancements as well as giving all those useless trophies a purpose and adding a few other highly-requested features.

The current version requires you to use snapshot 21w08b because Mojang broke custom fonts in all later snapshots.

— All tab icons are the same item (a diamond) to promote tab equality and stop tab discrimination.

— Added the following advancements: “Ok, boomer”, “Then you took an arrow to the knee”, “Alohomora!”, “Transformers: Age of Wizardry”, “Voldemort”, “Brick Rolled”, “These might be Steve’s”, “Screw the Nether”, “Easiest Boss Fight Ever”, “Chestful of Netherite Blocks”, “Celestial Protocol”, “To The Moon”.

— “Aww Man!” has a bunch of other advancements extolling the rest of the song added in one big branch.

— Renamed the Adventure tab to the “STONKS!” tab.

— Renamed some of the villager-related advancements to things relating to “STONKS!”

— Renamed “The way to spawn” to “Do you know da wae” and changed the icon to Ugandan Knuckles’s head.

— “Time to Dig!” is now called “Time to dig…” and when you get it the Silver Queen spawns.

— “Artillery” is renamed to “Fartillery” and you now get a Fart Gun as a trophy.

— Holding the Fart Gun will cause brown particles to emit in front of you that instantly kill any mob unlucky enough to inhale the fumes. A future update will make mobs that don’t have noses immune to the Fart Gun.

— Also added trophies for “Blackstonehenge”, “Justice”, “Deep Slate Nine” and changed the one for “Monsters Milestone”.

— When you complete “Pupil Poppers”, an anvil will spawn above your head.

— When you complete “Demolitions Expert”, TNT will spawn on you until you die.

— When you complete “Blackout” you now get permanent blindness until you die.

— When you complete “Lilypad Hatter”, a Big Dripleaf will be forcibly placed in your head slot (overwriting whatever is already there), hence giving you a lilypad hat of your own.

— When you complete “Deep Slate Nine”, you get blessed with quality.

— When you obtain diamonds, it feels more rewarding.

— When you tame a dog, you now instead get an advancement named “D.O.G.” with the description “You are no god… but I shall feast upon your essence regardless!”

— Every chest loot table is now guaranteed to contain a “Loot Stick” labelled with the chest type it came from.

— “Jumping Jacks” now requires 10,000 jumps when it should be 100,000 jumps. This was unfixed in BlazeandCave’s Advancements Pack 2, make sure you have updated!

— The root of the “Animals” tab now requires you to get a stack of both bee hives and bee nests at every honey level, because I add everything VoltyMn suggests.

— Zombies now all randomly spawn holding either a rock, paper, or shears.

— If you hit a mob in such a way that you win “Rock Paper Shears”, that mob will instantly die. However, be aware the same can happen to you!

— Piglins now more closely resemble anime girls. They no longer accept gold, instead they only accept flowers, and gifting them will result in them giving you love.

— When you kill a Zoglin you get Zork Chops instead of rotten flesh.

— Endermites now mature into the Ender Dragon after two minutes of existence, giving more credence to the description of “Ender Worm”.

— All Glow Squids are removed from the world. In their place are Iceologers that are specially equipped for ruining speedruns.

— Carved Pumpkins will refuse to stick around because it’s not Halloween.

— Hitting a mob with a stick (which grants “Expelliarmus”) will cause them to drop whatever item they are holding in their hand and also cause particles to shoot out.

— Sticks that have been named certain Harry Potter spells will create their desired effect when held.

— Alohomora will open up any door (except iron ones, this will be fixed in version 2.5).

— Vera Verto will transform any mob into a random other mob (needs testing).

— Accio will cause all item entities in the world to be brought straight to you (rebalancing and item specification additions (e.g. Accio Diamond) will be coming in version 2.7).

— Avada Kedavra will instantly kill any mob. If you try to use it on a baby Villager named “Harry Potter” you will instantly die and gain the “Voldemort” advancement.

— Upcoming spells: Wingardium Leviosa, Expecto Patronum, and more as the community and Harry Potter nerds demand.

Overhauled all of the milestone advancements to be easier to get:

— When you get “Getting Wood” you also get “Advancement Legend”.

— “Mining Milestone” has been renamed to “Mining Minestone” and is obtained along with “Stone Age”

— “Building Milestone” has been renamed to “Bellding Milestone” and is obtained when you ring a bell.

— “Farming Milestone” has been renamed to “Farting Milestone” and is obtained upon firing the Fart Gun (the new trophy from the renamed Artillery).

— “Animals Milestone” has been renamed to “Anime Milestone” and is obtained upon giving a total of 100 flowers to one anime girl.

— “Monsters Milestone” has been renamed to “Monsters Inc. Milestone” and is obtained upon placing a block of lime wool.

— “Weaponry Milestone” has been renamed to “Weapon-REEEEE Milestone” and requires you to name a sword “REEEEE!”

— “Biomes Milestone” has been renamed to “Biomes Milesgone” and is obtained similar to “Kilometre Walk” but after walking one mile from 0,0.

— “Adventure Milestone” has been renamed to “UBER STONKS” and requires you to fill your inventory with emerald blocks.

— “Redstone Milestone” has been renamed to “Redstone Redstone” and is achieved upon obtaining Redstone Redstone instead of Redstone.

— “Enchanting Milestone” has been renamed to “Chanting Milestone” and requires you to join the Cult of Cave by wearing his head.

— “Statistics Milestone” is still the same, but all distance-based statistics advancements have been converted to miles.

— “Nether Milestone” has been renamed to “Nether Minediamond” and is one of the ‘congratulatory’ advancements obtained upon mining diamonds (mentioned above).

— “Potions Milestone” has the same name but it requires you to get hit by a mob with every effect. All I’ll say is, LogicalGeekBoy is a genius.

— “End Milestone” has the same name but it requires you to kill a baby turtle, a witch, a phantom, an elder guardian and a piglin brute with one piercing arrow in The End.

— “Super Challenges Milestone” is renamed to “Endgame Milestone” and has the description ‘Snap your fingers and correct the universe’.

Some of the trophies actually function now:

— Holding the Golem Kit will summon an Iron Golem. It has a cooldown of one minute.

— Holding the Mayor’s Throne will spam a hyperlink in chat (which leads to the mumbo for mayor song).

— Getting shot by any projectile while wearing the Cowboy Hat will make it fall off your head.

— The Super Rod will now catch Pokemon instead of fish.

— Hitting a mob with Stormbreaker will cause it to summon lightning. This works no matter the current weather pattern.

— Holding TARS allows you to set all of his settings including Trust, Honesty, and of course Humour.

— The Singularity now sucks in everything around it when dropped on the ground.

— Holding the Corrupted Beacon emits a giant death ray.

— Each of the Infinity Stones have their own unique effects when held.

— Putting the Infinity Gauntlet in the middle (fifth) slot of your hotbar and then all of the Infinity Stones in the three slots to the left and three slots to the right (in the order that Thanos obtained them in) enables you to unlock the full power of the universe.

— Changed “Serious Dedication”.

The installation method is almost exactly the same way as the original datapack. If you don’t know how to install the datapack, then go to the nether!

In addition, you will need to install the required resource pack. It comes with the main datapack download, but you can also download the resource pack on its own here.

Come to think of it, the configuration is the same too.

If you have any problems with this datapack, make sure you’re on the right snapshot.

If you want to get into creative mode but it keeps putting you in survival, run this command:
/tag @s add no_forced_gamemode

Do not use this datapack on a server unless you trust everyone on it.
I say this because the Reality Stone puts you into creative mode (so that reality can be whatever you want), which could cause players to seriously break or grief some servers.

I take no responsibility for servers ruined due to not taking this into account.

BlazeandCave’s Advancements Pack [1.17 Datapack]

BlazeandCave’s Advancements Pack is one of the first advancement datapacks ever created and is also one of the largest and most feature-packed. It adds over 800 new advancements to your world so you have some extra challenges to do in your survival world.

Notable features:

— 16 Advancement Tabs in total!

There is a built-in scoreboard that will count how many advancements you have obtained so far in your world. Great for seeing your progress or for competing with your friends!

— Item Rewards and Trophies given via functions.

Item rewards give you a little bonus for completing many of the advancements, while trophies are special decorative items that are awarded for completing many challenge advancements. These features can both be separately toggled on and off (see below).

— Full translation support.

Installation:

The downloaded datapack should be a zipped file named «BlazeandCave’s Advancements Pack» and then followed by its version number. As of 1.12.3 and later you DO NOT need to unzip this anymore.

Installation instructions are as follows:

1)
— For a new world: You can click the «Data Packs» option when creating a new world. Upon doing this, either open the world folder and copy in the zipped file, or click and drag the zipped file directly into the menu. Once it is imported, mouse over the icon for BlazeandCave’s advancements pack so an arrow appears, then click the arrow to load the datapack.

— For an existing world: Click on the world in the singleplayer menu, then click «Edit», then «Open World Folder». Then go into the «datapacks» folder, and copy and paste the zipped file from the download here.

2) Go into the world. A message should pop up saying you are using BlazeandCave’s advancements pack. If not, check your advancements menu. You should see the custom tab named «BlazeandCave’s Advancements.» If you forgot to load the datapack when creating from a new world, type the command: /datapack enable «file/bac_advancements»

Configuration:

The advancements pack can be easily configured using the config menu, which can be displayed by running the following command:
/function blazeandcave:config

Using the config menu you can:
— Disable and enable item rewards, trophies, and the welcome message by simply clicking their checkboxes.
— Display the advancements scoreboard on the tab list and/or sidebar. You can also clear it from there.
— Update the advancements scoreboard for all players online.
— Grant trophies for all players based on what advancements they have achieved so far.

Warning: The config menu will not open if you do not have operator permissions. This includes if you are playing on Hardcore mode. To gain operator permissions in singleplayer, click «Open to LAN» then click «Allow Cheats» so that it is set to ON.

For advanced information on what you can do with the config check the spoilers:

Completing each advancement triggers a function that adds one to a scoreboard, so it counts how many advancements each player on a world has obtained.

You can get the scoreboard to show up on the sidebar or the tab list using the config menu.

A number of things may cause the scoreboard to display an inaccurate score for some players, such as updating to newer datapack versions. Additionally, due to the way advancements and functions work, if a non-opped player gets an advancement they may not actually trigger any function rewards, so the scoreboard may not count for non-opped players on a server.
Again, you can use the config menu to update the advancements scoreboard for all players online.

You can also set the advancements scoreboard to automatically update using this command:
/scoreboard players set adv_score bac_settings X
Where X is how often in seconds you want it to be updated. This setting is recommended for servers where the scoreboard won’t update for non-opped players, and it is recommended that X is set to a high number for servers that are laggy or have a lot of people (e.g. 300 for 5 minutes).
X is set to 0 by default, which will cause the scoreboard to only update when someone manually updates it through the config screen (recommended for singleplayer or servers where everyone is opped)

Trophies are decorative items that you can receive upon completing some challenge advancements. Similar to item rewards they are turned on by default, and can also be toggled on and off using the config menu.

You can view a list of trophies here.

A function in the config menu will grant players every trophy they should have obtained based on which advancements they have achieved so far. This function should only be run in worlds that used the advancements pack before updating to the Trophy Update (version 1.11) so that players can obtain the trophies they missed, OR if you had trophies disabled for some time and wish to enable them but also want to gain all the trophies you would have obtained so far.

When this function is run, players that were granted trophies by this function in the past won’t receive any again from the function (to prevent them from receiving duplicates if the function is run multiple times on a server). To manually re-enable trophy granting for them use the command:
/scoreboard players set

Updating to newer versions:

The Advancements Pack will be updated for later Minecraft versions and snapshots to add more advancements or fix bugs. Here is how to safely update to newer versions:

1) Make a backup of your world for safety if you screw anything up
2) Leave your world for more safety and don’t go in during the process
3) Delete the old datapacks COMPLETELY from your world
4) Copy and paste in the new updated datapacks
5) Go into your world
6) If you screwed up, go to your backup, make a backup of your backup, then repeat steps 2-6 on the backup.

WARNING: If you are updating from a Minecraft 1.16 world to 1.17, a large number of advancements’ progress will reset. This is intentional as part of some internal overhauls. Please consult this document before updating and make note of your personal progress on each advancement that is listed to reset.
Then, once you have updated the world and datapack to Minecraft 1.17/ BACAP 1.12, you may use commands to re-grant those advancements.

Add-ons and alternative versions:

Language Pack
— Translates the advancements into other languages.

Hardcore Version
— Allows you to play the advancements pack in hardcore mode.

Infinity Snapshot Challenge (April Fools 2020)

The aim of the Infinity challenge is: Complete as many advancements as you can in BlazeandCave’s Advancements Pack, but you are only allowed to use random dimensions to achieve this. So no using anything in the overworld, nether or the end. For minimal exposure you could even make the overworld be a superflat world with nothing in it.

You may build a ‘base’ in the overworld for things like farms as well as all your portals there (since returning through any portal brings you to the overworld) or you could have one portal in the overworld which leads to a ‘home dimension’ where your base and all your portals are. Seriously, try the ‘home dimension’ idea out, there are some nice-looking dimensions out there! 😀

The Caves and Cliffs Generation Preview datapack version is a special version designed for use with the Caves and Cliffs preview datapack released by Mojang which expands the world height, adds in the new cave generation, and adds in recipes for Bundles.

Similar to the Hardcore-friendly version, it is a seperate datapack that needs to be installed ALONG WITH the base BlazeandCave’s Advancements Pack datapack, AS WELL AS the Caves and Cliffs Preview datapack released by Mojang (which you can download here).

It adds two new bundle-related advancements and changes some existing advancements to take the increased world height into account.

Upon installing, make sure to run this command to ensure the modified advancements are properly there.
You will need to open to LAN and enable cheats in order to run this command however.
/function blazeandcave:cacpreview_install

(version for 1.16.2-1.16.5)

(version for 1.16 or 1.16.1) (These will not work on 1.16.2 or later )

Installation instructions and how you use the datapack may vary between each version. Please consult the Read Me document within each version for information on how to install and use that specific version.

— This includes reuploading the datapack on other websites without my permission. The only sites that this datapack has been officially uploaded on is Planet Minecraft, Minecraft Forums, MinecraftMaps.com, the Datapack Center, CurseForge, and MCCreations.com.

Troubleshooting and FAQ’s

I am aware of a number of issues involving installing advancements, particularly if you try to install them on servers. I am not an expert on servers, but here are a few questions I’ve been frequently asked and how they were solved:

Why is «X» advancement not working?
Some advancements will break on Spigot and Paper servers. Any server that runs the Advancement Pack must be a vanilla server, or else some advancements may not work. This is due to these servers changing around data that makes the detection for these advancements break.

Some examples of these broken advancements may include, but are not limited to:
When Piglins Fly, Custom Boss Fight, Trick or Treat, Slenderman, Mollusc Man, Captain Etho, Rock Paper Scissors, This name sounds cooler, I’ll be back, Event Horizon, The Beginning, The Perfect Run.

How to turn on/off item rewards and trophies or display the scoreboard:
The config menu lets you do that using the following command:
/function blazeandcave:config
For more information read its section above.

The config menu won’t show up when running the command:
The config menu only shows up if you are opped on a server or have cheats enabled in singleplayer.

The scoreboard is not working even when using the config menu:
Type in these commands in order:
/scoreboard objectives add bac_advancements dummy <"text":"Advancements">
/function bc_rewards:update_score
/scoreboard objectives setdisplay sidebar bac_advancements

Rewards or Trophies are not given:
Make sure to check they are enabled on the config screen. By default they are turned on.

If you are on a server and are positive they are turned on, this would likely be occurring due to permissions or due to server plugins (e.g. Spigot will almost always screw with this datapack) because, sadly due to the way advancements and functions work, if a non-opped player gets an advancement they may not actually trigger any function rewards.

I lost a trophy! Help!
You can use the following command to give yourself the trophy of a specific advancement back:
/function bc_rewards:trophy/ /

Some advancement tabs (such as the Super Challenges tab) don’t show up:
A tab will not show up if you haven’t gained any advancements in that tab yet. For example the Super Challenges tab is not unlocked until after defeating the Ender Dragon.

If your question is not answered here or my advice doesn’t work for you, you could try messaging your problem on my Discord and you may be able to get help. Or try searching on Google for advice on how to fix these problems.

I cannot guarantee compatibility with any other datapack, or with mods. This datapack modifies the vanilla advancements so if any other datapack(s) you attempt to use alongside this datapack relies on or also modifies the vanilla advancements there may be compatibility issues.
