It was a promise, it is now done.

Cauldrons of War Stalingrad being finished*, I’ve just pickup some of its new features to increase the CoW Barbarossa quality of life.

I know most of you weren’t big fan of consulting the wiki: now, you will just have to hover elements in the operation window long enough to make the tooltip appear.

If you hover an action sending a unit somewhere else, a minimap will appear so you won’t need to close the operation window to check where exactly on the map you are sending this unit.

This feature alone will change your life.

Most of the «old maps» are still in the game, but I have added the Stalingrad Map as the default map.
You may like the new button on the left :

Click on it to Display the troops on the map.

Now you can quickly visualize if you are really weak somewhere.

PBEM :
-those damn load game buttons are now easy to click
-That damn PBEM folder is easy to find and open (I’ve added a button to do so)

English event texts:
-They have been reviewed one more time (Thank You Red_Jar), so you should find less misspellings and typos)

Bugs:
-They should now be even rarer (mostly those bugs that produced strange results at turn change)

*PS: for those of you who don’t own yet Cauldrons of War Stalingrad, it is the best moment to get it, before I raise its price for the official release (this is a matter of days)

— это пошаговая стратегия о начале Великой Отечественной войны.
Примерив на себя мантию Главнокомандующего, возьмите под контроль Вермахт или Красную армию, поведите несметные армии в бой и вершите судьбы не отдельных людей, но целых народов.

Но то было в общих словах. Сейчас я, как автор, опишу, чего я хотел добиться созданием этой игры.
Я хотел сделать исторически достоверную и правдивую игру, которую всегда можно было бы запустить, чтобы сразу, без долгих обучений и раскачек прочих крупных игр окунуться в гущу событий Второй Мировой.

Я также хотел избежать клеток, гексагонов и «провинций», а потому решил применить новую систему на основе проведения операций.
В итоге вышло куда проще, быстрее, а главное, более исторично.

Я также хотел, чтобы геймплей за Германию и СССР существенно различался, и я надеюсь,
Вы ощутите эту разницу, поиграв за каждую из сторон.

Я могу твердо заявить, что в стратегии, подобные этой, Вы еще никогда не пробовали. Я уверен, что Вы, как и тестеры,
будете возвращаться к ней снова и снова.

PS: Я обитаю в основном в Дискорде на сервере, посвященном этой игре, и всегда отвечаю всем, кто напишет мне. Обязательно загляните на огонек, пожелания игроков всегда учитываются.

Cauldrons of War Barbarossa is a turn-based strategic wargame.
From June 1941 until the Battle of Moscow, play the USSR or the Axis forces in one of the largest and bloodiest operations in history.

That was the summary, now I want to explain to you as an author what I wanted to do with this game:

«My intention was to make a very historic Wargame which would be the ideal game to launch when you want your WWII shoot
without wanting to launch one of your usual games that last for weeks.

I was also tired of the hexagons and «regions», I wanted to test a new system based on operations.
The result is more historic, simpler and faster.

I also wanted the gameplay to be very different for the German and the Soviet,
and I think you will see by playing that each side has its own particular feeling.

What I can promise you is that you have never played a wargame like this before and that like playtesters,
you’ll want to come back to it often.
