We’re going to remove the payment feature from the Skyrim workshop. For anyone who spent money on a mod, we’ll be refunding you the complete amount. We talked to the team at Bethesda and they agree.

We’ve done this because it’s clear we didn’t understand exactly what we were doing. We’ve been shipping many features over the years aimed at allowing community creators to receive a share of the rewards, and in the past, they’ve been received well. It’s obvious now that this case is different.

To help you understand why we thought this was a good idea, our main goals were to allow mod makers the opportunity to work on their mods full time if they wanted to, and to encourage developers to provide better support to their mod communities. We thought this would result in better mods for everyone, both free & paid. We wanted more great mods becoming great products, like Dota, Counter-strike, DayZ, and Killing Floor, and we wanted that to happen organically for any mod maker who wanted to take a shot at it.

But we underestimated the differences between our previously successful revenue sharing models, and the addition of paid mods to Skyrim’s workshop. We understand our own game’s communities pretty well, but stepping into an established, years old modding community in Skyrim was probably not the right place to start iterating. We think this made us miss the mark pretty badly, even though we believe there’s a useful feature somewhere here.

Now that you’ve backed a dump truck of feedback onto our inboxes, we’ll be chewing through that, but if you have any further thoughts let us know.

The Steam Workshop has always been a great place for discovering community-made mods, maps, and items for a variety of games. Starting now with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the Workshop is also a great place for community content creators to earn money by selling their greatest works.

We think this is a great opportunity to help support the incredible creative work being done by mod makers in the Steam Workshop and to encourage more top-quality work. This new feature allows mod authors to choose whether to list their items for a fixed price, for pay-what-you-want, or to make their item available for free. We just released an update for the Steam Workshop that adds a voting queue for item selection and a new home page for each Workshop to highlight cool content.

Workshops for games such as Team Fortress 2, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive include a type of items that players vote on to help determine which items can get accepted and made available for use in the game.

Workshops with these types of items now have a voting queue, similar to the queue in Greenlight or on the Steam home page. This queue will make it easy to discover new and interesting items to vote on, and will help the game teams get a better measure of community interest on the variety of items being considered for use in the game.

Each product Workshop now has a new home page design, helping to highlight the most interesting content in the Workshop, and to also better expose a variety of ways to browse the Workshop. With this new home page, customers can now more easily see mods, maps, or items created by authors they follow, see what their friends are marking as favorites, and read about recent Workshop news from the game teams.

This new home page also provides space for games to run special events such as themed contests, or to highlight new types of content supported by their Workshop.

This update has automatically applied to all games and software with a Steam Workshop, so just check out your favorite Workshop to see these new features.

I can not say it enough, many thanks for being here, for playing City Game Studio, I thought we would not reach more than 200 players when I write the first line of code. Yet today you are tens of thousands and it touches my heart.

You are so many to give me feedbacks and suggestions to improve City Game Studio. So I do my best to offer you the best game experience. You probably noticed a lot of mini updates during this week, so let’s talk about them in detail.

Spam emails have been revised, and a tooltip added to explain how to mark an email as spam. I believe this is long overdue.

When you start a new game, the game selects the easiest difficulty and leaves you free to take any difficulty. I was short sighted because if it’s your first game, it’s better to play on easy, then the higher difficulties become unlockable once you finish the game.

Also, the number of points required to complete a game is now indicated at the conception stage with a tooltip that explains how it is calculated.

For games that have already been released, the number of updates is now indicated as well as the date of the last update.

Console marketing panel has been redesigned to allow you to fine-tune marketing campaigns with a single click.

I will continue to work on City Game Studio to deliver the best possible gaming experience.

This Game is Frustrating. I love it!

Okay so to address the elephant in the reviews. This game has quite a few simulates to «Game Dev Tycoon» but that should not stop you trying the game out at least.

My reasons to play the game:
— The game offers a great challenge to the player.
— It shows Potential in growth with updates to the game.
— The game is quite user friendly for and information intensive game.
— It has everything «Game Dev Tycoon» has but more. (Note I love «Game Dev Tycoon» Alot and will continue to play the game.)
— It offers more room to play longer (Especially with the map size option and game speed option) I can see inspiration from Civilisation settings there.
— The sounds are great and rewarding to the ear.
— The pixel art editor for company logos is great and fun to play with.
— The fact you can create your own studio building for conventions and studio areas is great.
— Later in the Play through you can assign different studios to different projects and have multiple income streams.

The improvements i would add to the game:
— Have a more immersive tutorial, it was too easy to skip the tutorial on accident at times, and would prefer a more stand out way of being told what to do for my first play through.
— The character customisation is a lot similar to «Game Dev Tycoon’s» character creation. (I would add more options for the character) Via. Hats, Gaming Chair or chair customisation, Wrist Accessories. Anything that can maybe differentiate from «Game Dev Tycoon»
— The Music Was a bit loud on launch but that could just be my headset and personal Volumes. (So nothing important.)
— The games difficulty is awfully hard even at the lowest level, it is quite easy to go bankrupt even after a load of contracts that got me to 3 mil. (I would recommend the offers for payments to be lower in at least QA difficulty) I payed a console 1.9 mil on the first 5 years of my company was a bit insane to see.

There is a lot more to discover as i haven’t played long, but this is what I’ve came across so far and it is great.
Based on the features I’ve listed i hope it take your mind of the people that chose not to see the potential in the tycoon and try it properly.

A special thanks because so many of you have bought City Game Studio. Your enthusiasm warms my heart! Thus, I’m going through all the reviews, streams and youtube videos to find the bugs and other possible improvements!

Firstly, it’s a minor update that adds flags on the main menu for the supported languages of the game. The button was not clearly visible and by adding these few images the problem should be solved.

Another minor bug that greatly unbalances the game. Publishing a game sequel was greatly detrimental to the quality of the game produced and could turn your game into a disaster. Please rest assured that this bug is fixed and I’m sorry I didn’t see it before.

Among other things, wage increases have been fixed, as you may have noticed. Also Competitors can now buy each other out, and also get more studio, previously a bug was blocking this from happening.

One last annoying glitch, the information tooltip that tells you how to place items in a studio disappears correctly. Very sorry for that.

In 2017, City Game Studio marked the beginning of my first adventure as an independent developer. Released in 2019, after approximately 2 years of development, several playtests, a closed alpha and many hours of work, it was a worldwide success. actually a complete success for me who had just launched my first game on Steam.

And you all were amazing. So many of you have supported me, clearly it helped me to continue the development until now. Quite honestly it’s been hard to keep working on the same project for so many years, 4 years altogether.

Initially, City Game Studio’s development was supposed to end in 2020, so after 3 years of development it should have left the early access. However, an unexpected intervention from one of the pillars of the French Twitch game community came up. As a result of this much welcomed event, sales went up and the community grew spontaneously, this resulted in a significant positive effect [www.jeuxvideo.com] on City Game Studio. I would like to thank Domingo and the team that works with him.

This happened a year ago, and today I’m proud (relieved too?!) to announce that City Game Studio is finally fully released!

[h4]What is coming now?[/h4]
v1.1.1 is already in the pipeline, and I hope to continue working on City Game Studio until the TODO list [github.com] is empty. It should take me a few more months.

[h4]Alright, so what happens next?[/h4]
Honestly I wish I could tell that I will publish another game, or that I will continue to work on City Game Studio, or that there will be free DLC, but at this point I don’t know.

I don’t know how to project myself for more than 6 months, but I can tell you that I’m not done making games and that the next one might surprise you (and please you it would be nice anyway).

So without further ado I bring you the most recent features that come with the v1.1!

city game studio модыI think this is the most eagerly awaited feature. Cheating. You have to press F1, this opens a console. You can either click on the underlined texts or type them directly into the console. We begin with the help command, which lists the available commands. Next, use list-models to list the modifiable elements of the game. To get more information about a particular element, type help fanbase to get help for the element fanbase (this is only an example).

city game studio модыMarketing managers help you to better master a game genre or a game console. Given a certain investment of time and money, you get crucial information to create better games.

Just imagine what you could do if you were able to train your employees as well? Oh well, you don’t have to be imaginative anymore because it is already possible to train your employees

city game studio модыPrior to training employees you need a large financial budget to build a university that will house classrooms dedicated to the training of potential prodigies. Naturally this makes City Game Studio much easier, so this feature requires a lot of funding.

In short, as soon as the university is built, select the workers to train, type and duration of the training session, after 2 minutes it’s done.

city game studio модыInterface has been enhanced to provide a more fun and accessible way to buy and furnish studios. For example, furnishing a sudio is easier because the furniture list is still displayed while placing the furniture. Also, there is a category system that is easier to navigate.

city game studio модыWhen you open City Game Studio for the first time you can be somewhat surprised. The game wants to be intuitive and easy to understand. Yet there was a little something missing, almost nothing, but here it is now. Tooltips that explain what’s happenning, how to do things, or what to do.

city game studio модыThere are also other small changes that consist in adding links between panels. Instead of having to search opening different menus, you can switch from one menu to another if menus are linked together. For example by clicking on a human resources manager you can access the employee schedule. Or by clicking on an employee you can access the training panel. This will make you feel more comfortable and easier to navigate in City Game Studio, I’m sure.

That’s it, this update is huge and contains a lot of additions, so I made it as simple as possible. If you want to know more about it, I invite you to read the Changelog which is below.

Finally, the City Game Studio version 1.1 is almost ready and you can taste it already by switching to the unstable Steam branch. For that open the Steam library, right click on City Game Studio, select Properties then Betas and finally select Unstable.

This is it, we’re in business. City Game Studio [www.city-game-studio.com] is moving to version 1. For you who are just discovering City Game Studio you need to know that the journey began on 2019 when v0.12.0 was launched on Feb 21st.

Since then, City Game Studio has been showcased at prestigious events such as Montreal ComicCon 2019 and DreamHack 2019. All of this happened thanks to the Gameplay Space which helped me organizing playtest sessions, attending many conferences and other social events.

All those events made it possible for City Game Studio to reach maturity and indirectly to release version 1. But before speaking about the future of the game, first let’s have a look at the content of this update.

city game studio модыCreating a console is quite intuitive, but selling a console is a challenging task. The algorithm which calculates the sales of consoles has been completely revised, even if there are still tweaks to do, it is much more pleasant to build your own console now. Moreover you can manage a marketing campaign dedicated to your console. Be careful though, because a successful console can put you out of business if its selling price is lower than its manufacturing costs.

city game studio модыTo inform you about the latest news, a new notification appears. It is about new components available for game consoles design. It includes a short message, with an image of the component concerned.

city game studio модыThere is much to say about it. Firstly, the 1983 krash is really hard on you. So I made things a bit more clear by adding useful information to the post-mortems. Apart from that, I’ve added color codes and tooltips to distinguish the profitable consoles from the others. On top of that, I added an algorithm that automatically selects the profitable consoles instead of the ones that are affected by the crash of 1983. These welcome changes will help you publish profitable games.

city game studio модыPost-mortems are important, and their content is even more important because it helps you understand how to make good games. That’s why game reports also make a brief statement when you don’t use all the capabilities of a console. Handy!

city game studio модыSince 2019, City Game Studio’s interface has been revamped 3 times. Yet one panel had never been redone until today. This panel was the summary of the sales of a game when a game is withdrawn from the market. City Game Studio being a management game, I decided to put some statistics and accounting details. I hope you will like it!

city game studio модыMany of you have been asking for it, and for a while already. It took me a while to set it up properly but you can browse your old creations while you develop new games. It’s really convenient as it helps to better adjust the gauges when making games.

city game studio модыWhen you create your first console you like to publish many games to it. In order to make it more accessible, you can have several publishing offers at the same time. All it takes is a ton of money.

city game studio модыMany of you have also asked for this change. Being able to port a game to multiple consoles at the same time. So instead, I’ve implemented a system that lets you create a game port list. Gone are the long moments of selecting one by one the game consoles, now in a few clicks you can port your games across as many compatible and available platforms as you want.

city game studio модыOne last change, minor this time. It consists in adding a basement to the city map. It took me 5 minutes to do and I like the effect.

I really hope that you enjoy this update, at least I had a lot of fun and I’m not hiding it from you, I also had to work hard on some features.
