Caveman2Cosmos introduces a massive amount of new content with massive customization to Civilization 4 : Beyond the Sword. From the the discovery of controlled fire in the Prehistoric Era to the spaceships of the Galactic Era this community mod is perfect for the player who craves very deep strategy but is still enjoyable to the more casual player. Be warned, with this much content this mod may take almost 100 hours or more to win a single game. This mod is evolving on a weekly basis and new features are added all the time!

Version 40 rules. A large volume of fixes, speed-ups, memory efficiency and graphic improvements.

The programmers and graphic artists have been busy at work improving numerous things about the mod and fixing bug reports as they come in. We haven’t added any big features, just improved on the last release. That’s why this is not v41, but rather v40.1. Some of us have been planning some big new things to come, but before some of that gets any real application work, we figured you Cavemen might want some of the fixes we’ve been working on in the meantime!

Having a problem: Load error: GFC Error: failed to initialize the primary control theme.

Playing via Steam, tried putting the mod in both the BtS install directory AND documents, or in either. When it’s NOT in documents folder I cant even select the mod in the load a mod menu ingame.

I didn’t have this problem with the previous version of this mod. Please provide a detailed instruction on how to proceed. absolutely LOVE this mod so really want to play it BAD

Mod and game can’t be in my documents
Make sure it isn’t in nested folder and is named «Caveman2Cosmos»
In C:\Users\ \Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword there is CivilizationIV.ini, open it and edit «mod =» line so it says «mod = Caveman2Cosmos»
Also enable beta for Civilization IV as without it you have graphical glitches

beyondthesword folder was AGAIN a beyondthesword folder where the mod was supposed to go in the folder MODS.! now it works!

Ah so base game folder had confusing name :p

Hello, having a problem mod crashes without any errors to the desktop.

I do like this Mod, Although I do have a question that just won’t go away, Why has the UK not got the SAS and SBS. Although under SOE at the time, these boys were disabling mines across all of the beaches of Normandy. The SAS and SBS Trained the Seal team, Yet Firaxis and many modders follow the line that the SEAL team is the only important special forces, which is incorrect wrong and misleading. Please, Please add the SAS and SBS and give them mine field clearance as that’s what they are trained to do. Another point is that more UK special forces have purple hearts ect American medals than any US special forces having UK medals. The UK Special forces have been at the fore front of any US military campaign and were in the Vietnam war. I would also like to see special forces chinooks, and Hercules and Globe Masters of which these guys can do para drops from. I would also like to see SBS been able to use Submarines for stealth incursions by sea. These minor improvements would for me make this amongst the best Mods in the whole series. Would it be possible to use the WLBO mod, as that is such a brilliant edition to any Civ 4 game?

Mod can’t be in my documents, and must be named «Caveman2Cosmos»

This is listed as a Full Version, but when I load the mod it complains that files cannot be loaded. For example «Assets\xml\text\strategy2_civ4gametext.xml». These files exist in the v40 download.

Never overwrite old version with new one.
You must delete old version.

A really impressive mod, the last time i checked it, i noticed that the optimization was significantly improved, my PC is basically a potato so that helps a lot.

If I install it in the My_Games\Beyond the Sword\ map, instead of in My_Games\Beyond the Sword\MODS] map, the game starts, lets me select a civilization and then starts first turn, but without any interface.

Mod can’t be in my documents and MUST be named «Caveman2Cosmos»

Out of nostalgia I came back to CIV 4, never expected this mod to still be alive and getting updates! Amazing work all of you! Really appreciate the content you provide!

I saw a Neandrathal with my flag enter an enemy city and became their front line defense. Hopefully that is one of the bugs you were talking about. Also AI seems Waaay defensive but thats ok I guess

Are you sure, that you got V38.5 version?

What you need to do to get the space content turned on?

To have use of early space units (like satellites or space shuttles, or other space units buildable on earth) you need to play on certain scenarios.
There are two such scenarios (space maps): Vertical Solar and Its Small World.
First one has properly done Earth, but space section is creative mess.
Second one has no AI civs, but it has well defined space zones.
Rest of future content is accesible without custiom scenarios.
There are few space maps on forums too.

Alright, I can start the game fine, and make it all the way to the map, but it seems that BUG is. well bugged. When I open the BUG menu, I get a blank screen at the following:

Make sure folder name is Caveman2Cosmos

You should be able to select options for custom maps

Scenarios have preset options, here you have to change options every time you start new scenario.

i know that i can turn of WONDERS but not the Prehistoric cave and Legendary Landscape thing
Even with unlimited Wonders you only can build 1 of each

Group wonders are intentionally done that, so you can have only one from group.

Need Help Installing!: I cant seem to get this mod to work. I download the zip file. Extract it using the Zip 7 program and save it to the Civ 4 Mod folder.. I start the game, go to advanced, load a mod, and click Caveman2Cosmos. The game restarts (with Caveman2Cosmos text in top right corner) and thats it. The game remains vanilla in all other aspects.. What am doing wrong? Please and thanks!
