You MUST have all the listed portrait DLC for this mod to work properly. Most of these are included in the Ultimate Portrait Pack DLC.

NOT achievement compatible.

The goal of CPRplus: to offer more variety in character portrait.
CPRplus seeks to do so through not only this principle but also through additional graphical assets, recoloring some and completely overhauling others as well as reorganizing how and when graphic assets are displayed in-game. The result is a very uniform and smoother transition from culture to culture, without any one particular culture sticking out oddly because of its original art style. CPRplus’s feature highlights include:

— Over 80 unique portrait sets which include new graphical assets or altered existing assets.
— Portrait sets include an early/late or pagan/nonpagan version.
— Recolored skin tones
— Reworked facial elements (no more triple chin, no more scary indian stare, ugric eyes a bit bigger for hungarians, and hundreds of other changes, some big and some subtle)
— Dozens of new headgear and clothing that can only be found in CPRplus.
— Trait based graphics, character is ugly and depressed? it shows in the portrait!
— Tweaks to portrait code (e.g. Nomadic rulers only wear armor and helmet when at war, portrait background reflects the character’s geographic location)
— Men under 18 do not grow beards. Pious Catholic men also do not grow beards.
— Men over 80 go bald.
— High personal combat + Martial is awarded a knight helmet or a crusader helmet if you are also a crusader.
— Cardinals will wear the red galero.

Compatible with HIP. Since the steam version updates before the version that is in thr HIP installer, you must wait for HIP to update to play with the other HIP modules.

COMPATABILITY PATCHES REQUIRED FOR OVERHAUL MODS (Could be outdated!)

Patch for HIP (you just install CPRplus from the HIP installer): https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/historical-immersion-project-download-faq.748775/
(Check which version is more up to date, HIP or CPR on steam). If by chance steam is more recently updated: After having installed HIP, take all the files from this steam version CPRplus, and throw them into the corresponding locations in the installed HIP mod folder. Then disable this steam version and run HIP like usual. done!)

To find other compatability patches, check and request the forums of those mods! I DO NOT MAKE COMPATABILITY PATCHES SO DON’T ASK ME, but you are welcome to make them yourselves.
________________________________________________________________

CPRplus is originally a HIP (Historical Immersion Project Overhaul mod) exclusive! CPRplus with HIP modules provides extra features. Check out HIP here: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/historical-immersion-project-download-faq.748775/

Common bugs:
If you are experiencing missing hair, faces, headgear, anything, it is because you are missing a DLC, or have it unchecked.

If your question can be answered simply by downloading the mod and checking it out, or disabling/enabling DLC/other mods, you most likely won’t get an answer from us.

Mod idea by Benseth. It gives Norman/English clothing (from Monks & Mystics) to Norse, Norwegian, Swedish and Danish characters during the Late dates (post 1200).

It requires «Beautiful Vikings» mod, as it also gives them German faces.

Mod idea by Benseth. It gives East African faces to West African characters. It also gives different clothing depending on the era:

This mod gives Norman/English faces and German hairstyles to Saxon (Anglosaxon and Old Saxon) characters.

(Since German beards look weird on Norman/English faces, they still use their own Nor/Eng beards)

It replaces some of the Iberian clothes with a neutral variant. The result is a new purple clothing set which feels nice and royal anyway. Use this if you don’t want Castilian-Leonese heraldry outside Castile and Leon.

Russian helmet retextured. Simple, yet effective.

It gives early era clothing to the following cultures:

-Early Western: Iberian (Castilian, Portuguese, Catalan), French (French and Occitan) and Norman.

-Early Byzantine: Gothic.

-Early Arabic: Andalusian.

-Early Slavic: Russian (also Volhynian.

It gives Norman/English clothing (from Monks & Mystics) to Norse, Norwegian, Swedish and Danish characters during the Late dates (post 1200).

It requires «Beautiful Vikings v2» mod, as it also gives them English/Norman faces.

AGoT Portrait Replacer

AGoT Portrait Replacer VER 8.2 [For AGoT ver 2.2 & CKII 3.3.3]

Option #1 DIRECT DL. Offline copies are great to avoid auto-updates messing with saves:
VER 8.2 (For AGoT 2.2 & CKII 3.3.3) [www.dropbox.com]
VER 8.1 (For AGoT 2.1 & CKII 3.3.0) [www.dropbox.com]
VER 8.0 (For AGoT 2.0 & CKII 3.3.0) [www.dropbox.com]

— Any mod using History files are incompatible. The most likely culprit are bloodline mods.

— The portraits of children (age 0-12), such as Bran, Rickon, Arya, etc. do not initially have portraits, but when they reach age 13, they’ll automatically acquire them. This is necessary due to a limitation in CKII’s treatment of children’s portraits. I could have lowered this age further, but then all other characters would become adults at the same age, which would look awkward.

— Custom ruler designer characters conflict with my portraits, because my portrait hides the cosmetic DNA changes you’re trying to make, so you have no clue what you’re going to get until you load onto the world map. You shouldn’t be replacing the TV show characters anyways, as it might break the game’s events, since the character you’re replacing will be forced into a position on your court, while your player with a random name takes their place.

— AGoT’s mod is based on the book, not the show. This is important because, for example, Xaro Xhoan Daxos and Salladhor Saan are black in the TV show, but not in the mod/book! Regardless, I assigned them their show’s character portraits. Furthermore, some characters do not exist in the mod at all, because they weren’t in the book, and some character names are different from the book over the show! My point is, I understand the mod doesn’t match the book. I also don’t want to start a war between TV show viewers and book readers. If you’re a book loyalist who hates the TV show, don’t download this, lol.

— The imprisonment layer doesn’t display on static portraits and children’s portraits. You’ll still see the imprisonment icon next to their portrait, however.

1.) Download the main AGoT base mod in their forum. [agotcitadel.boards.net]

3.) Subscribe on Steam, or direct download for an offline copy. Start CKII. In the CKII launcher, go to the «Mod» tab. Ensure both the main AGoT mod AND my AGoT portrait mod are enabled.

4.) Play, and you’re done. You’ll know it works when you see the show’s character portraits when clicking around the world map. Note: The portraits won’t show on the bookmarks screen!

This is not a requirement, unless you’re using the vanilla CKII version of my mod, because all characters automatically acquire portraits on start-up. Using the in-game console, you can manually remove and assign portraits to characters. To do this, when you’re loaded onto the world map, hit the tilde (

) key, then type your commands. To switch YOUR portrait, type:
add_trait InsertNameOfPortraitHere

To switch the portrait of an AI controlled player, you must know their character ID. Type «charinfo» then hover your mouse cursor over their portrait. New information about that character will be displayed called the debug info. Look for their ID number. With that ID number, type:
add_trait InsertNameOfPortraitHere InsertCharIDHere

If you need to remove a portrait on yourself, type:
remove_trait InsertNameOfPortraitHere

To remove a portrait from an AI character, type:
remove_trait InsertNameOfPortraitHere InsertCharInfoIDHere

Q. In my game, why are the portraits attached to the wrong characters?
A. Whenever you enable/disable a mod that adds/subtracts traits, you MUST start a new game. Every save game expects a certain trait count; changing it confuses save files, shuffling everyone’s traits. My portraits operate off traits, so my portraits would also get shuffled! This isn’t specific to my mod, it’s a CKII issue affecting all mods.

Q. I’m mid-way into a save. Can I still edit the gfx portrait files?
A. Yes, but don’t mix up the artwork, otherwise, traits could reference incorrect portraits! For example, if you want to edit Theon, only replace him with another portrait of Theon; no one else.

Q. Can I use this in vanilla CKII?
A. The AGoT version wasn’t designed for vanilla CKII. Instead, use my vanilla download option and apply them via the in-game console (ex. type add_trait portrait421).

Q. Is this Ironman compatible?
A. For AGoT, it is fine, but not for vanilla CKII, as you’d need the console to apply traits. Ironman disables the console.

Q. What’s your policy on fair use?
A. These pictures are being used in a mod for non-commercial purposes only. All pictures depicted are not of their originals, but of thumbnails only. I am not making a profit from this mod, and I refuse to accept donations. I feel this constitutes fair use, but it is up to the discretion of Steam if they would rather remove it.

Q. Can I use your portrait mod in one of my mods?
A. Yes, but credit me please! Thanks! 🙂

Portrait Compilation Mod

Although mods like CPR+ and BLG are fantastic, I just felt like I wanted something a little more lightweight. And there are so many great portrait mods here on the Workshop.
This is a collection of all my favourite portrait mods merged together. I Have been using this in my own game for a while and thought I would publish for anyone else interested.

Changes made by this mod:
CHINESE Males use Tibetan faces with Han clothing/hair. Females use WOWGAG Chinese faces.
TURKISH Use Cuman faces with Turkish clothing/headgear.
NORSE Use English faces and edited hairstyles and beards.
EAST SLAVIC Use Western Slavic faces.
CELTIC Use English and Norman faces.
NORTH INDIAN Use darkened Persian faces with Indian clothing.
WEST AFRICAN Use East African faces with West African clothing.
MONGOL Males use Tibetan faces and Cuman clothing. Females use WOWGAGS Chinese faces.
IBERIAN Use modified Muslim faces with Iberian clothing.
ITALIAN/ROMAN Use modified Muslim faces with Italian/Roman clothing.
AZTEC Use modified Bodpa faces with Aztec hair/cloths. Gives males a few beards.
MISC Changes to French female eyes/mouths/noses. Fixed bug where females have no ears.
MISC Re-coloured German female faces to match males better.
MISC Fixed Cuman female cheeks that made mouths disappear.
MISC Remove Satan masks and change leader cloth colour to red.

FAQ
Q: Why are some characters naked?
A: You are missing content. Either you do not have required DLC or the download is corrupt.

Q: Is there a manual download link?
A: Yes, here. [drive.google.com] Note, that if you install manually, the mod will not auto update.

Q: Do you have a pack that only adds *specificculture* faces?
A: Here are all the individual packs that have been uploaded at request. These are only available for manual download, as I dont want to clog up the workshop:
Celts use French faces [drive.google.com] (require’s Holy Fury and Celtic Portraits DLC)
English/Anglo Saxons use French faces [drive.google.com] (require’s Holy Fury and M&M DLC)
Aztecs use Bodpa faces [drive.google.com] (require’s Jade Dragon and Sunset Invasion DLC)

I am yet to come across any graphical bugs/strangeness, but please let me know if you spot anything weird.
Here is a list of all included mods, all credit goes to these great modders, and I would like to give a personal thank you to them for all there contributions to the CK2 community.

Crusader kings 2
