This guide is intended to provide official, base level information that will be helpful for you to begin modding Darkest Dungeon. Because of the large volume of potential information involved in any large modding project, we still encourage members of the community to write their own detailed guides using their own tips and tricks.
If you’d like to contribute to this official guide, please contact one of the current guide mods! We’d love to have your help, as long as you understand we require editorial control since this is the official guide.

HOW TO TURN MODS ON/OFF IN THE GAME:
While this guide is extensive, we expect others to create more elaborate guides on specific aspects of the game and how to mod them. It can be difficult to understand mechanics or concepts the first time you’re shown them, and we’ve set up a modding group specifically to bring modders and their ideas together in a centralized area.
Most of Darkest Dungeon’s files can be edited in any text editor, though below we’ll highlight some of the recommended software that can be used. Please note that, of this list, only Spine2D is absolutely necessary for skeleton editing or creation. All other programs are recommended, but not necessary.
Darkest Dungeon uses Spine to create skeletons and animations for characters. Without Spine you will be unable to make new animations for characters or enemies. Because Spine is a paid program it can be a difficult entry fee into the creation of unique animations, but it’s a full-featured editor whose possibilities far exceed what is required for Darkest Dungeon.

Perhaps the most featureful and powerful photo editor is one of the best ways you can jump into editing or creating art assets for Darkest Dungeon. Though not free, Photoshop can be subscribed to on a month-to-month plan for cheaper than ever before.
Gimp is a free alternative to Photoshop and, while not as featureful, it is still incredibly powerful! You will be able to manipulate or create assets just as easily, and we recommend you use whichever photo editor suits your needs!
Assets in Darkest Dungeon need to be exported with transparency settings. ‘Gimp’ does this automatically, but for Photoshop we recommend the ‘SuperPNG’ plugin. Additionally, two programs can be used to trim the masks from PNG files and to remove the alpha colour layer.
To use these two programs, drag and drop your PNG file onto each of the exe files. Though no dialogue will appear, they will have done their job. Check below for the links!

This is a list of general parts/mechanics that can be modded. More specific info on areas of the game can be found in their respective guide section.
Making a mod for DD is actually pretty simple in concept. (It’s the execution that always matters.)
All of the moddable files in the game are contained in this location of Darkest Dungeon’s installation:
and then place any files in there that I wish to change relative to the main game.
So if I wanted to edit the leper’s stats, I would copy
When I upload the mod to Steam Workshop (see elsewhere in this guide), that relative file structure and organization will be retained. When a user subscribes to your mod and turns it on, the appropriate files will be overwritten at run-time when they load that campaign.
To test your mods, of course, you’ll need to keep the files in the actual
directory of the game while you run it. You can also make a copy of Darkest Dungeon and overwrite files for testing, allowing your Steam/GOG version to remain untarnished. When doing this, run the executable in the ‘nosteam’ folder.

Your mod is a collection of changed data files, in the same relative file hierarchy as the core game. Once your mod is ready to go, follow this procedure:
To edit your mod Icon, include a PNG image file with the name «preview_icon» in your mod’s root directory. Your mod description can be edited via the Steam Workshop interface.
Modding DLC content may at first seem confusing since all of the DLC content is kept in a seperate folder, but it actually requires you to do nothing differently. DLC content is applied much like a mod is. That is to say that it is applied over the base game files before mods.
So to mod DLC content you simply need to keep the hierarchy the exact same as you’ve been doing to mod the base game!

UI ENHANCEMENT

ANTI-GRIND & LARGER ROSTER
К персонажам в игре не рекомендуется привязываться. Они все равно будут убиты, но переживать об этом не стоит. На их место придут другие персонажи. С данным модом приходят сильные герои, но не стоит думать, что прохождение игры намного облегчится. Вам также нужно делать лучше Дилижанс, чтобы использовать остальные функции. Этот мод для тех, кто не хочет постоянно работать, а желает немного отдохнуть.
STACKING INVENTORY
Самое плохое – найти хороший предмет под землей, а потом выяснить, что его некуда класть в инвентаре. Никто не хочет выкидывать найденные предметы. Поэтому данный мод позволяет собирать некоторые вещи в специальные стаки. Например, угощение для собак и дрова можно класть в стаки. Но это еще не все. Связанные квесты, некоторые предметы и самоцветы тоже можно поместить в стаки. Для увеличения места в инвентаре и служит данный мод в игре.
PITCH BLACK DUNGEON
Игру Даркест Данжен хочется проходить снова и снова, благодаря разным квестам. Но иногда нам хочется увидеть в ней что-то совсем новое. Данный мод может это обеспечить, изменить в иге инвентарь, врагов, игроков и даже вид оформления. С этим модом пройти игру будет сложнее, нужно создавать тактики. Поэтому он не для новичков.
GERALT BOUNTY HUNTER SKIN
Рассматриваемый мод позволяет заменить скин «Охотники за головами». Поэтому персонажи будут иметь дело с Геральтами. Мод не просто меняет интерфейс. Вместо Серебряного топора теперь будет Серебряный меч, который принадлежит Геральту. Во время нанесения ему урона, он выставляет знак Квен.
EXPANDED TOWN EVENTS
Название игры не всегда оправдывает себя, и в ней редко говорят про подземные коммуникации. В ней много внимания уделяется деревне, как и захвату добычи или завоеванию склепов. Чтобы сделать город более оживленным, в игру дополнительно внесли городские события. С помощью этого кампаниям добавилось разнообразия. В событиях часто можно увидеть хорошие скидки и баффы. Данный мод показывает эти события, прибавляя много разных развлечений. В моде есть позитивные и негативные события города.
WINTER WONDERLAND
Если в игре посмотреть на Деревню, то это навивает тоску. Ведь ее окружают унылые темные подземные сооружения. Персонажи не ждут ярких фейерверков, но цвета определенно не хватает. Этот мод покрывает все вокруг снегом, в котором существует настроение праздника, но мрачность игры сохраняется.
THE LAST OF US
Этот хитрый мод ограничивает число героев в игре, которыми можно пользоваться. Вы будете довольствоваться вначале 17 персонажами. Дилижанс улетучится совместно со случайной вербовкой. Мертвых героев возвратит вам только Ритуал возрождения на 30 тысяч золотых. Кроме этого, вам будет предоставлен доступ ко всем функциям игры в ее начале. Для использования мода потребуются крепкие нервы, поэтому подумайте, готовы ли вы к этому.
REVENANT
Если вам потребовался новый танк, то вы найдете его у Неупокоенного мстителя. Танк обладает такими функциями, что другие игроки в мощной броне не захотят идти с вами в квесте, если танк будет в команде. Он способен наносить урон, излечиваться. В общем, это солидный игрок, который может возглавить битву вместе с командой. Рассматриваемый мод предоставит вам такой танк.
DARKWRAITH
Другой новый класс под названием Темный призрак любит награды и обожает рисковать. Он также легко находится на грани смерти, когда наступает его подъем. Он имеет много сильных навыков, может снимать баффы и создавать серьезный урон. Уничтожая врагов, он приобретает проклятый лут. При возможности заполучить его из подземелья можно выручить много золота. Организуйте личную команду Темных призраков, применяя данный мод в игре.
PITT FIGHTER
Мод представляет собой искателя приключений, который обожает биться в бою старыми методами, например, кулаками. Он обладает хорошими навыками уничтожения врагов, может сражаться жестокими приемами и причинять большой урон. Кроме того, такой боец может превратиться в танк. К нему притягивается беспорядок, зато он может сам излечиваться и уклоняться от ударов.
CRIMSON CURSE BUFF
NO ABOMINATION PARTY RESTRICTION
Любого игрока волнует, если команда не желает работать вместе. Герои способны исцелить себя от стрессовой ситуации, быстрее освободить подземные сооружения. Для этого достаточно не вступать в ссоры. Члены команды не любят Чудовище по определенным причинам. Но часто приходится с этим мириться. Мод позволит Чудовищу вступить в команду, в которой участвует Монахиня.
NO STRESS ON PASSING TURNS
Вы со своей командой двигаетесь рядом со многими страшными локациями, вступаете в бой под землей с опасными монстрами. Поэтому величина стресса постоянно возрастает. Иногда это выводит из себя многих игроков, и они пропускают свои ходы. Если это для вас вызывает раздражение, то данный мод в игре Даркест Данжен поможет справиться со стрессом.
POWERFUL HEROES
3 TRINKETS
Это эффективный, но в то же время простой мод прибавляет новый слот. После этого игроки смогут в игре Даркест Данжен создавать 3 безделушки. Эта модификация очень удобна для тех игроков, которым нравится собирать маленькие предметы, что намного усиливает функции команды. Перед установкой мода из слотов потребуется удалить все безделушки. В противном случае ваши сохранения в игре будут удалены.
STOP WITH RANDOM NEGATIVE QUIRKS AND DISEASES
Игра Даркест Данжен обладает беспощадностью. В ней вы часто сталкиваетесь со сложностями и проблемами.
