Description

This humble mod makes minor alterations to The Pitt official DLC in order to make it more playable and enjoyable. If you don’t know why that’s such a big deal, well. you’ve never played The Pitt.

It’s a work in progress, and as such, feedback is greatly appreciated. I’ll do what I can to resolve any issues people find, and if anyone wants to contribute their own suggestions and fixes, I would be more than happy to add it in and give you all the credit.

* Moved Krenshaw’s Steel Mill reference so that he spawns to the side of Faydra instead of behind her, avoiding the awkward forced dialog
* Altered Krenshaw’s dialog scripts from the Steel Mill so that he properly waits to trigger the start of the next quest, and gives the player a previously-hidden dialog tree properly explaining the next quest
* Altered the first Arena stage of the Unsafe Working Condition quest so the player is directed to talk to the Raider Spook before the objective marker changes to Faydra, to help the player from getting lost in the Steel Mill. Also updated the dialog scripts to work with the quest changes.
* Moved several script triggers during Ashur’s downtown speech so that he says the entire speech, and that he and Midea don’t talk over each other.
* Altered the Wernher and Radio Tower Raider factions so they are both neutral to each other, rather than a combination of friendly and hostile
* Altered the Pitt bridge factions so that the Slaves are enemies of the Raiders, and removed the Evil flag from the front-gate Slave faction
* Removed the AshurGoodbyeDialog package from Ashur so that he no longer breaks the intercom conversation during Free Labor
* Altered the Free Labor quest to force the player to obtain their gear from the Arena footlocker before leaving the Steel Mill, and to provide only one objective marker (and additional location information in the objective description) until they do so. This prevents confusion and preempts a footlocker-related bug.
* Added a new Megaton spotlight to an upper walkway in Haven, to help direct the player to the shortcut entrance to Downtown
* Fixed Faydra’s dialog conditions so that she no longer greets you as a returning fighter when you haven’t yet fought an Arena match.
* Fixed Faydra’s dialog so that she properly congratulates the player upon completing the Arena questline. Note: the dialog currently does not play once the next quest begins, and Krenshaw’s AI package insists on occasionally jumping in ahead of Faydra, meaning you might not hear her anyway.
* For the duration of Ashur’s downtown speech, locks the player’s movement controls and moves the player near Midea for the duration of Ashu’s speech. This avoids numerous bugs and crashes that can occur if the player interacts with certain characters or walks underneath the walkway during the speech. Midea is also difficult to hear if you aren’t standing right next to her.
* Altered the Arena gate in the Steel Mill to open at the same time it unlocks, which should make the Arena easier to find.

Upgrade
=======
1. Uninstall the old mod.
2. Install the new mod.
3. Start Fallout 3 and play. There is no effect on saved games and cannot corrupt any saves. As far as I know.

Incompatibility
===============
None that I know of. You’ll probably want this late in your load order, though.

Known Issues or Bugs
=====================
I am aware of a number of issues that the Pitt still has, but I have limited time and skill. I have tried to tackle all of these, but if I’m not getting results there’s no point in holding off the rest of the mod. I will try to do more work if I get the chance, but if anyone has suggestions or fixes that would help deal with any of these outstanding issues. I would be delighted to have the assistance. If you want to contribute to the mod I’ll be sure you get all the proper credit.

Ashur referred to his slaves as workers and his raiders as soldiers. This mod reflects that. I made this mod because I thought some people out there might like to use it for roleplaying purposes (like I did). Here are some ways I imagine this mod could be used:

— If all the slaves have been freed
— If you’re roleplaying as Ashur’s top lieutenant and want see things the way he does
— If you have declared yourself the new King of The Pitt and have ordered some social changes
— If you want to make The Pitt DLC a more difficult moral choice for you and your character by making the conflict between Workers and Soldiers, rather than more black and white Slaves vs Raiders.

— Changes «Pitt Slave» into «Pitt Worker».

If you are playing The Pitt for the first time in your save file, the Pitt Workers will be wearing Pitt Armor from the beginning.

*** BUG *** If you have already played The Pitt DLC in your save file, you will have to use the console to kill and resurrect your Pitt Workers one by one to get them out of their old slave outfits and into their new armor, because the cell will already have loaded them into their outfits.

The alternate No Slave Outfit version doesn’t work with old save files unless you kill and resurrect each NPC individually with the console (see above).

Vanilla-friendly retexture of the creatures, armors, and weapons from The Pitt DLC. Done with a combination of AI upscaling using various specialized models and scratch-made texture work. Details like fabric structure, stitching, rust, and general surface imperfections are much more defined.

Weapons use the same full resolution diffuse and normal map for both first person and world model. Alternative versions of the Trog and Factory Protectron are included, feel free to overwrite with my standalone retexture for them if you prefer that.

Fallout 3: The Pitt

Fallout 3: The Pitt – второе загружаемое дополнение для ролевой игры Fallout 3. И если первый аддон получился «так себе», то The Pitt – удивительно классная вещь, как раз для тех, кому не хватило оригинальной игры. Действие разворачивается в Питтсбурге, где нас ждет увлекательная линейка квестов, а также приятная добыча в виде нескольких новых предметов и ролевых возможностей.

О чем это?

Как и в предыдущем дополнении, Operation Anchorage, события The Pitt начинаются с того, что мы ловим по радио сигнал о помощи. А вот дальше сходство заканчивается. Чем был так плох Operation Anchorage? Да тем, что к оригинальному Fallout это дополнение относилось очень посредственно: действие разворачивалось в виртуальном прошлом, а геймплей больше напоминал шутер, чем RPG.

C The Pitt ситуация совсем иная – направившись по источнику радиосигнала, мы встречаем Вернера, который рассказывает о страшной ситуации в Питтсбурге. Там правит шайка рейдеров, большинство жителей находятся в рабстве, кроме того – в городе царит эпидемия непонятной болезни, которая уродует жителей. Постъядерной службе спасения в нашем лице придется отправиться на помощь.

Как играется?

Свершилось! The Pitt – предельно «правильное» дополнение для тех, кому не хватило оригинальной игры. Никаких вам заигрываний с виртуальной реальностью, никакого примитивного экшена и проч. Второй аддон идеально вписывается в атмосферу Fallout 3 – перед нами отлично воссозданный постапокалиптический Питтсбург, с собственной атмосферой, историей и социумом. Квесты в мини-кампании выстроены в почти строгую линию, однако выполнять их по традиции можно разными способами. Начинать, кстати, придется практически с нуля – в город можно попасть лишь в драных лохмотьях, поэтому в The Pitt вас ждет собственная мини-прокачка.

Подарок фанатам?

Именно! После несколько оторванного от действительности Operation Anchorage разработчики образумились и сделали именно то, что мы от них ждали: начали расширять и обогащать события игры мини-аддонами. The Pitt – вполне стандартное дополнение, которое сделано на высшем уровне. Рекомендуем его всем поклонникам оригинальной игры!
