Translations available on the Nexus

This mod changes the entire catalogue of clothes for the children of atom.
This includes the following changes:

Children of atom wear a new set of cloth rags.
They have a chance to spawn with random pieces of the Ronin armor.
Some will make use of a blindfold to show devotion.
The high confessor & mother wear the Ronin hakama.

The cloth rags are a mesh edit of Dima’s clothes.
Both sexes have their own version.
Wasteland Ronin Hakama has been renamed to Atom Outfit.
subsequent pieces have been renamed in the same fashion.
Each one of these pieces of armor has a random chance to appear on a children of atom NPC. (See FAQ)
There are also variants of these pieces of gear that can spawn.
There are 3 different gloves, 3 different chests & 4 different armguards.
1 chest variation is exclusive to grand zealots.
There is a chance for a children of atom NPC to spawn with a blindfold.
This blindfold has been renamed and retextured from it’s original mod to fit with the cloth rags.
Some named children of atom NPC’s will spawn with predetermined gear.
Mother Isolde has a blindfold, grand zealots spawn in full armor, etc.
They only make use of the children of atom painted skin.
This skin has been modified to appear black, to fit with the cloth rags. And to differ them more from the railroad.
The mask will only spawn as the gasmask.
Thematically it doesn’t make much sense for a children of atom NPC to wear one, so it’s been made very rare.
The hakama does not really fit into the theme of the children of atom.
But neither did it make much sense for the high confessor or mother to wear the cloth rags.
They needed something fancier, so the hakama underarmor that comes with the Ronin mod is being worn by both of them.
The helmet doesn’t fit either. It has been excluded from spawning.
It’s too Japanese and does not fit at all.
A full set of Ronin gear can be bought from Ogden in the crater of atom.
With the need to put a full outfit somewhere because of the above, and the lack of dead bodies to put it on, I opted for a children of atom vendor.
He also sells some cloth rags & blindfolds.
The armguards had a leather strap that would clip into the body with the new rags.
I adjusted that mesh on both sexes so that does not happen anymore.

The clothing & the armor set are NOT craftable and only obtainable from whomever wears it.
Once obtained, they can be modified like usual.
As mentioned above, there is a full set buyable from Ogden.
The Ronin set can no longer be found on the feral ghouls.
Neither do any of the special ghouls from the OG mod spawn.
Rebalanced the set to be a weak combat armor.

The weapons being visible on the NPC’s is not included in this mod. Here

Glorious GIF Example

Download with any mod manager.
Far Harbor is required.
Niero’s Wasteland Ronin is required.
Make sure to get the skinpack, the included textures are low resolution.
Just read, you will figure out how to get them for free.
The mod comes in esl format. It shouldn’t be in that format in the first place.
Under miscellaneous of this mod, you can find the correct format. Simply delete the «.esl» & replace with the «.esp».
This mod will not load without this.

The mod touches children of atom NPC’s, outfits & Ogden vendor list.
No mod I know touches the outfits which means it’s compatible with everything.
The NPC records I touch are very rarely used by other mods. Nothing to worry about.
The vendor list is also rarely touched. If something conflicts and this mod loses, the armor will simply not be available for purchase.
Obviously a very similar mod might do unexpected things.

The clothing will only show up on NPC’s that have not yet spawned.
If you install this mod in the middle of a game, it might take several in game days to update.
They will be naked.

If you use a body mod, it will most likely need a patch.
If there is a patch already available somewhere for the armor or clothing used, then it will work out of the box.
I will not make any of these patches.

I made several patches for an array of gameplay overhaul mods.
Download the main file then overwrite with whatever patch you need.
The main esp works for Vanilla & Unbogus Fallout Overhaul.

Church of Atom Overhaul will conflict.
This mod has some fantastic armors. But it’s a completely different approach to outfitting the children of atom. (See FAQ)
For that reason, it’s either that one or this one.

Atom’s Glory Threads will conflict.
Same as above.

South Of The Sea is fully compatible.
Vanilla NPC’s will be outfitted by my mod. The added NPC’s will be outfitted with the included Church of Atom Overhaul armors.
This mod does have issues on it’s own and the same thematic reasons as Church of Atom Overhaul apply here as well. (See FAQ)

I noticed an issue with the blindfold with a NPC face tweaking mod, like Keke-Bu’s NPC replacer.
The nose will be poking through the blindfold. I’m pretty sure it happens because it makes the nose bigger.
It’s trial and error for this. Facials For Everyone for example, which I also use, works fine.
Three things can be done about this. Tweak the mesh for the mod you use, exclude children of atom being tweaked from the mod, or remove the blindfold.
The easiest is to remove the blindfold. Open this mod in xEdit, open up armor, delete the blindfold record, save.

The patches makes all other cross patches obsolete.
Do not use them. This includes Horizon.

This mod needs to be placed after whatever gameplay overhaul you use.
In other words, my mod needs to win the conflicts.

Multiple BLD patches from the Look At Me series need to be merged together.
See my other mod, Stop Disliking Me, for a video & article, if you don’t know how to do that.
Open up FormID list, It should be pretty straightforward what needs to be done.

Why make this?
I’m so deep into this series now, I might as well keep going.
There is another mod that does this, but this one is a different approach.
I also really like Niero’s armors, and it’s a way to immersively include them into the game.

What’s with the chosen clothing & gear?
The Ronin armor was going to be the base of this, but the hakama underarmor did not fit.
I scoured the clothing & armor section twice to find something that would fit or combine. I could not find anything.
I needed something that looked raggy & poor, that offered no protection from the radiation & that had this religious cult feeling to it.
I bumped into the mesh edits of Dima’s clothes and they we’re exactly what I needed.
Since all of the children of atom NPC’s wear the same cloth rags, it creates a problem with variation.
It would be a very dull mod without variation, so I applied a full chance system on the Ronin armor.

What’s with the chances?
Every piece of Ronin gear, excluding the helmet & hakama, has a chance attached to it.
On the base level all NPC’s will spawn with just cloth rags. Then they have chance to get each piece of gear.
Armor pieces have 30% chance, gloves are 80%, blindfold is 50% & gas mask is 5%.
There are also different variants of some of these pieces for even more choice.
As an example, 3 gloves can spawn: full set, right glove or left glove.
They all have the same colored cloth rags & the same skin of armor.
This means that all of them will look similar, but none of them will look the same.
In the other mods, the variety comes from different pieces of gear and different skins.
For this mod, the variety comes from this chance level.

What’s with the blindfolds?
Since the helmet doesn’t work & the mask has been made very rare for lore reasons, I needed something for their face.
Since the children of atom are part of a religious cult, the blindfolds add a level of blind believe in the leaders, in the atom.
Even if immersion wise it doesn’t make much sense. It looks really good and fits them perfectly.

What about Church Of Atom Overhaul?
This mod is really good. The armor sets are fantastic, the implementation is clean. It’s the only children of atom overhaul out there.
The problem lies in the lore of the children of atom. They don’t care to protect themselves from the radiation, they want to thrive in it.
All of the gear that Church of Atom adds has gastanks & gasmasks and they simply don’t fit the lore.
My mod on the other hand does the complete opposite.
The rags don’t provide any protection from radiation whatsoever. They are barefooted. The armor has gaps.
The approach of both mods is different. Neither is better then the other. It’s up to you which one you like better.
Keep in mind that this is my opinion, I just wanted to clarify my thoughts on the mod.

What’s with South Of The Sea?
With the amount of CTD comments, I had to test it to see if there was any truth to it.
I did not crash anywhere, so it’s those people’s trash load orders causing it.
I did notice broken precomb around the glowing sea. The voice acting is broken.
It apparently has a bunch of errors & the mod is simply unfinished.
That said, this time around I have personally removed it from my load order.
I don’t like half finished projects, and when I looked deeper into this mod, I figured that’s what it is.
It’s a shame nobody has picked this mod up and finished it.
It does have plenty of content that will work fine. No mod does what this mod does. It has it’s niche, but I can’t recommend it.
And since the clothes & armors are the same as Church Of Atom Overhaul, the same thematic reasons from that mod apply here as well.
Same thing, it’s up to you to decide if you want to use it or not.

Why make them not craftable?
It’s an easy integration into the game without creating conflicts, that’s why every mod author does it.
I like my immersion and prefer to get it from somewhere in the game that makes sense.
The full Ronin outfit can be bought from Ogdin, the vendor in Crater of Atom.

This craftable item from Artificer Eskanonen will turn Atomites friendly! Be WARNED, may not function if wearing powered armor!

Incursions from the Ashland Homestead upon the shores of the Dead Lakes Wasteland have brought us new faithful with frightening armor! Rejoice as our enemies are scattered before us!

— Holy water: Water blessed with Atom’s Glow!
— Gutworms: Boiled from dogmeat in blessed waters, these ravenous parasites will consume addiction causing compounds and other maladies!
— Scourging Purgative: Unblessed may wish to scourge their body, and gain the Glow anew! This chemical cocktail will do just the thing!
— Water Angels: Microscopic fungi crust formations can be ingested, granting a weak long-term, glow consuming blessing. Be warned, if your body can not sustain great amounts of Glow, make use of the Scourging Purgative. Angels should be ingested before seeking Atom’s Glow!
— MoThEr’s Milk: A derivative of jet, water taken from the holiest of holy sites in Far Harbor will grant its believers substantial power!
— Waster’s Delight: A delectable can of proteins and derived insoluble matter! Not for just any tourist, of course.

All armor takes up your 33 slot, and all helmets take up the hair/headband slots. Want to swap out your favorite gas mask? You’ll find the myriad helms to your liking!

This will ideally be available for consoles in the future!

This armor was created for my version of Nora. I’m a writer more than a screen archer and doubly more than a modder. Children of Fallout is a mod which provides more realistic approach to the children in Fallout. The mod adds enemy children, random encounters, and will include 4 child followers in a later version. All children are not brave fighters, the mod takes that into account, in addition to adding 100’s of different looks new hair, eyes, and races.

OK ALL!! I have some news regarding the future of this mod. Iknow that development is sporadic.. I have to work on it while managing a very demanding job. Here is what is in the works:

1. NEW OOTC PATCH UNDER DEVELOPMENT..Please be patient I have to update NIFs for OOTC to work with my children which will be integrated into the OOTC settler system. I need to make new form lists and duplicate and update about 500 looks records. These records will be used to allow a simple patch with a new lchar into Orphans of the commonwealth.

2. I am looking at releasing an ALPHA TEST version of the mod which will allow the possibility of the player having a choice whether to kill the children or set them on their way. By default it is 50/50 that they will die when injured enough or you will be given a dialog option for them.

This is thanks to the amazing scripting talents of SKK. He was kind enough to share his talents some time ago and I had to put a hold on that release due to real life. I am making some changes to mirror loot-able clothing and I will release that Alpha test in the next couple weeks.

Children of Fallout was created to add a new dimension to the post fallout world, one where life is hard, cruel, and unfair. Children don’t all become farmers, doctors, and helpers. They also become raiders, scavengers, captives, runaways, chem addicts, and deserters. Synth children work as killers and Gunner Children menace those foolish enough to cross them. Children who are indoctrinated into this difficult world all have different talents, and dispositions, and looks.

Immortal children are a thing of the past, welcome to the real fallout.

This mod adds hand placed, randomly generated children, as well as several different random encounters to the game. The highlights are:

-Hand placed enemy children who are randomly generated from lists of skills, AI styles, Hairstyles, race, and Gender. There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of possible combinations.

-Some children, like Ghouls and Synth children, will scale with the player. Other children only scale to an extent, but will always be somewhat weaker than the player the higher your level is. as it should be.

-There will always be children spawning BUT the rate for higher level children to appear is rare. because its a tough world out there.

-I have added numerous random encounters which draw from different unique lists. They will appear in ALL areas that are subject to the travel list including DLCs. I have worked hard to keep it lore friendly.

-A new skin texture (Thanks to Diverse Children!!) which is applied to all children.

— ALL of my children, lists, outfits, etc..are designed to be as integrated as possible for maximum compatibility. Things that touch the level lists should transfer to my hostile children, depending on if the author added to the base or top level lists.

-This Mod was cleaned in FO4Edit throughout creation.

Compatibility:

— Killable Children is NO LONGER NEEDED and SHOULD NOT BE USED.

— This mod should be compatible with other child mods such as orphans.

— There is a TEST PATCH up for Orphans of the Commonwealth. I am trying to allow Orphans to take advantage of the skins and huge numbers of looks for kids from my mod. I NEED PEOPLE TO TEST AND GIVE FEEDBACK.

This now needs to be placed AT THE BOTTOM of your load order. There are 2 reasons for this change

1. It now makes children ( ALL children) Killable and placing other mods under it may break that as it requires edits to several base races and children. This was the trade for making it ALL in ONE.

2. In addition, while 90% of my children work from duplicated, independent templates and parts, ect. there are a couple places they intersect the main files out of necessity. I limited this to the absolute lowest number of occurrences, but in order to prevent any unforeseen issues, it is best to have it last so things changed at lower levels will just be integrated into and used by the mod.
