Due to the recent changes in Nexus terms of agreement they give me no other option but to permanently remove Diamond City Expansion. I will leave it up for a couple of weeks if people want to create a local backup but after that it will be deleted, and I hope all translations of the mod will respect this decision and follow suit. If you want to call me entitled or childish you can stop reading here and proceed to do so, or you can give me the benefit of a doubt and hear me out.
The reason I started modding was because I enjoyed the challenge, but the reason I kept going was the community support from all you guys. I don’t care how many downloads I get, I don’t care about the amount of endorsements. I deeply appreciate any donations you’ve sent my way, but this was never about money. You don’t get rich by modding games. The sole reason why I spent hundreds of hours to release new updates was because you showed me that my work mattered to you. And that made my work matter to me.
With the rollout of Collections (or modpacks) by Nexus the conversations revolving the mods will effectively scatter over multiple locations and away from the actual mod page, meaning the close relationship between author/user will get lost. And with that, the main incentive why we do what we do will vanish. Plus the obvious, that I will lose ownership and control of my own creation.
Here’s a little analogy of what Collections will mean for mod authors:
Say I’m a singer/songwriter and I decide to do my live performances for free. I will bring the equipment, the instruments, the lighting. Nexus owns the venue and they provide it at no cost but will have sponsors/advertisments to still get revenue from my free performance. Totally fine.
Once I enter the stage, there is zero people in the audience except for a guy with a video camera. It would be weird of me to just cancel my show, people might show up and after all they are apparently filming it. So I do my gig, feel slightly discouraged that nobody showed up. Don’t get me wrong, I love writing music but if there’s nobody coming to my shows it feels. empty.
After a week Nexus tells me what a success the show was. I’m perplexed, since it failed miserably. «On the contrary», Nexus says, «we hade millions of people dropping in and out at our virtual music festival. Since we bundled your show with lots of other artists people wen’t crazy over the tickets.»
They tell me they will do a second virtual festival but I don’t have to perform again since they can just use the recorded material. I tell them I prefer not to because I was mentioning my ex by name in a song and I should probably remove that. They tell me I should have thoght of that before I did my free performance and used their venue, and they now own my performance. But I can always do a second performance where I change the name of my ex, with no audience except the camera of course.
So, the venue now owns my recordings and can do what they will. I can keep playing in this empty venue and they can keep showing me the great figures of their ticket sales. Does this feel fulfilling? Is this what I imagined when I started this hobby? Playing for empty halls? Playing for free while somebody else makes money off of me?
None of this is out of spite, it’s out of the simple psychology of «why do I even do this?». And sadly, this passion that mattered a lot to me will soon cease to matter.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why are objects and textures in Diamond City flickering and disappearing?
This mod is huge and actions have been taken to mitigate negative impact on your fps. You’ll get much better performance in Diamond City, but the tradeoff is that it increases the risk of mod conflict.
Problem: You have another mod that makes modifications to Diamond City.
Solution: Make sure that Diamond City Expansion (DCE) is in the bottom of your load order (highest index number)
Problem: You have another mod with dirty edits (accidentally made changes to Diamond City).
Solution: Make sure that DCE is in the bottom of your load order (highest index number)
Problem: Your data folder is messy, particularly Meshes>Precombined.
Solution: Uninstall all mods, check that the Meshes folder is empty, reinstall the mods.
Problem: A previous version of DCE, or a conflicting mod, has information stored in your save file.
Solution: To determine whether or not you have a dirty save, bring up the console from the main menu and type «coc diamondcityorigin». You’ll be teleported to Diamond City with a fresh spawn. If it’s still flickering, try this:
1. Leave Diamond City and save your game
2. Uninstall the mod and any mod that might conflict
3. Load previous save
4. Create a new save and exit the game
5. Re-install the mod
6. Load the latest save.
Think of your list of mods as a deck of cards. Fallout 4 master files always have the lowest index numbers, which means they’ll be the first cards you draw and put in your «played» pile. You keep drawing cards until you get to the last card which has the highest number in your deck. The last card you play ends up on the very top of your «played» pile, there are no other cards that can be put on top to cancel it.
Do I need every DLC? Can you plz make a version for me that doesn’t require them?
Yep, you need all of then. Nope, I want to use my pastime to improve my mod not downgrade it. Please respect that.
Why can’t I get that fusebox working even though I carry fuses?
The fuseboxes in Fenway Stadium require RobCo fuses, a special type of fuse that can be found, or bought, in Diamond City.
What are those groovy tunes in Red Seat District?
But why are those groovy tunes so loud?!
There’s an optional file available that decreases the volume. The loud music does a lot for the atmosphere though, so I really recommend keeping it as it is.
How do I fix the texture issues on some NPCs when using CBBE?
This mod uses vanilla bodies because they tend to be more lore friendly than any exaggerated alternatives out there. For those who still want to use CBBE with this mod AWP3RATOR has been kind enough to make a patch. Don’t forget to endorse and give him your thanks.
