Parkour Mod for Fallout 4?

Just want to see if anybody has started on or plans on making a parkour mod for Fallout 4. Once the Geck comes out I plan to try my hands at making mods like that. Yet I am a newb in the modding community and it would probably A) take way to long because I’m in college right now, and don’t know how to start, and B) be of poor quality (I am a MOFO newb after all). So if anyone has started on a mod like this it’d be great if someone told me asap.

If however I become one to do it, I’ll try to add in free running where you don’t need to hit the jump if the object you running over is at arms length without jumping, and I want to put in grappling on ledges if you jump to one. Also grappling hooks, because why not?

You must love Assassin’s Creed.

Parkour is more than just climbing and vaulting over objects, so there are more complex calcuations that require the game designer to have a much better collision map than what FO4 has. And the animation is going to be a pain to do. FO4 is so simple that you can duck, jump, run, but they don’t even have existing animations for ducking behind the wall, leaping over a fence, body dive (through a small window) and roll on the ground. Games like Mass Effect, Tomb Raider have all those animations, and that’s not even close to what Assassin’s Creed has. All these motion captures require expensive hardware and stuntman to do, not something you can simply code in on a computer.

If you can do this, you practically create 1/2 of a brand new game. Might as well work with game designer, 3D artist, and writer, and you got a fully functional game ready to sell on Steam.

Just telling you what you are getting yourself into.

► ►► D ESCRIPTION:

I have posted about this a year ago and then kinda stopped working on it, but in the recent weeks i started working on it again and it reached a playable state. Over the course of 2 years on/off, i built this by hand. It is an attempt to combine Mirror’s Edge freerunning gameplay with Fallout 4. I got the idea during developement of Mirror’s Edge Catalyst in Jan.2016 when i heard it goes open world and went on from there. The final game was exactly what i imagined and i quite achieved something similar in FO4. But you’ll be the judge on that. It’s a great challenge to your patience, focus and how you handle the 3rd person control. One negative thought about slipping off, and boom you slip. You learn the tracks and then you feel the flow.

My goal was to use Bostons environments and tall buildings to build nice and challenging running routes, which are easy to learn but hard to master if you run them with fullspeed. You have to try it out yourself and judge, if it’s something that is fun to you!

In the video i explain everything in detail and you also got many exciting runs to see what it’s all about.

Go crazy and modify, add pieces as you see fit, or keep it as i designed it. Freedom is everything! Still i recommend running
your way through at least once, before changing things to feel the challenge i built into the courses.

On a sidenote: I also recommend the game ‘Getting over it’ on Steam, it’s a very peculiar but really challenging climbing game, it reminded me of the challenge i built into my project. If you are hardcore enough check it out, they even have a function if you make it through you enter a special chat and you can talk to the dev about the game.

► ►► L ORE:
Yes, I even set up a little lore for this. Basically they found something in the Memory Den, the device was upgraded and allows to enter this surreal world. It’s purpose so far is unclear, all there is now is that you have to complete the runs with the highest possible momentum, to progress further. The faster the more points. I was planning a lore part for the video aswell, but it’s better to leave that up to imagination for now.

Preston Garvey also has his role in this dimension, he is the sidekick of the protagonist, advisor and general morale suppoort. He is also a quite skilled runner.

Of course alot is up to imagination and expandable.
———

This is something completely out of the ordinary and not lore friendly or something, you could call it a ‘Themepark savegame’ with a new gamemode. Like you insert game cartridges in your Pip-Boy, you load up the
savegame and try running the tracks. I will certainly build more tracks in the future if time allows it, stay tuned!

I hope you enjoy the video and give this a shot. I worked really hard on this and it would be a joy to hear feedback from you, especially the Mirror’s Edge and parkour/freerunning fans, who are lurking.

F4SE (Fallout 4 Script Extender)
Place Everywhere
DDP AIO Standalone

DDP ramps & rails standalone
Snap n’ Build Greenhouse standalone
(both not available anymore, DDP is even banned..) check download section, youll need these two since back in 2016 i used these to build and the newer packages made all parts dissapear.)
Both files are needed for the Mass Fusion Marathon savefile,
Highspeed Rift route should work fine without them both.

The only really required mods are DDP’S Ramps & Rails and Snap n’ build Greenhouse standalone packages, since i have used them extensively in the ‘Mass Fusion Tower Marathon’ route, the old savefile. Without them, half of the tracks are missing. This savefile offers the bulk of the routes.

The mod list might look extensive, but these are all pretty useful mods which fit into every modlist.

It’s been about 9 months since i uploaded my Parkour World experiment onto the Nexus and my project has grown and has taken new wonderful shapes. Make sure to check out PART 1 here: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/27713 and watch the previous video showcase aswell to get the full picture.

Work season is over for me so i had the time to go at it again. Within the last month i created a few new fantastic obstacle courses which add to the routes i already created. All in All it’s already an extensive compendium of different challenges, which can entertain you hours or even days. You just have to give it a go. It’s a different way to experience and explore Fallout 4.

Inspirations from Mirror’s Edge, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, Getting Over it, Hot Lava, Source Jump/Surf Maps

— «Stage Two Route»: A very extensive new route with varied challenges and speed, it starts at the «Stage One Complete» Check Point and ends on top of the Hub 360 tower.

— «Entry Point Route»: It starts at groundlevel and connects to the three Towers where additional routes can be unlocked.

— ‘Husk’: After beating the Entry Point, you have to climb up, then you are up to a choice to stay and climb even further up or you continue to the «Stage One Route» until the final checkpoint.

— ‘Pylon’: Right next to Husk is another tower route. It entry point can be reached with a leap of faith from the eagle spot which is near the checkpoint. I will show it off in another video otherwise the video wouldv’e become to long. Alternatively you just download the savegame and try it yourself!

I want to keep the description short this time,

Sit back, relax and enjoy the videos, they show off everything i have created so far, underlined with some nice music

► ►► R ULES:
The highest discipline is sprint on, standard speed/fov settings, no jet, 3rd person mode fully zoomed out and with ‘tgm’ (godmode) on.
You always try to make it through in one go without pause and not losing too much momentum
Fire Barrels acts as quicksave spots
Follow the Oil lamps, they show you where to go next.

In the end you make your own rules, go at your own pace, sprinting through it is the highest difficulty setting if you will. You can also add/modify elements to the tracks if you wish to. This is a sandbox in a sandbox.

The mod list might look extensive, but these are all pretty useful mods which i think fit into every modlist.
I mainly used vanilla items to build the general shapes, power generator and some lights are taken from the Wasteland Workshop items, Marquie arrows from Contraptions DLC, the other mods are for decoration mostly and are recommended aswell, otherwise you miss out on the athmosphere i created

If you return to your regular savegame make sure to deactivate undesired mods in your Nexus Mod Manager before starting up the game. You can also create an own profile in Nexus Mod Manager, if you wanna play my savegame, so you can switch between mod setups.

Version 1.0

About

This is a F4SE plugin that lets you jump from Vertibirds. In addition to the Land option, there is now an option to Jump from a vertibird while in-flight.

For obvious reasons, make sure you are either in Power Armor or have a jetpack equipped!

If Jump is greyed out, you forgot to launch the game with F4SE.

Jumping from vertibirds was an advertised feature of Fallout 4 and was in the E3 trailer, but it was conspicuously absent from the release version of the game. Even the Vertibird page on the Help section in the pause menu still says that you can jump from them!

Requirements: Fallout 4 v1.8.7 or higher.

I do not use Mod Organizer and cannot offer support for installations via MO2.

Settings

If you want to restrict vertibird jumping to only when you are in Power Armor or have a jetpack equipped, set bSafetyCheck=1 in Data\F4SE\Plugins\vertibird_jump.ini.
