About this mod

In fallout 3 and New Vegas bullets can actually curve or shoot in a direction they shouldn\’t based on a dice roll (on top of the normal bullet spread). This mod removes that while maintaining the other RPG elements of shooting like bullet spread based on skill levels. Also the issue other modders have ran into with the guns not being aligned pro

In fallout 3 and New Vegas bullets can actually curve or shoot in a direction they shouldn’t based on a dice roll (on top of the normal bullet spread). This mod removes that while maintaining the other RPG elements of shooting like bullet spread based on skill levels, and no changes to the VATS system. Also the issue other modders have ran into with the guns not being aligned properly is avoided. Another effect of this mod is that your crosshair will turn red at a much larger distance when pointed at an enemy target, allowing you to tell friend from foe easier.

this mod should work with any gun even modded ones as it only changes a few in game settings.

how it works:
There are a lot of settings for auto aim, I set some of them to values that are so small that the effect does almost nothing, but I never set them to 0 cause that would disable autoaim and cause issues.

Summary: This mod changes two values from their defaults, fAutoAimScreenPerc and fAutoAimMaxDegrees. It has 3 other values marked as «edited» but their values are identical to vanilla NV.

Eddie’s mod changes three values and makes them extremely high/low from vanilla NV. Because of this, it’s my opinion that his changes are much more likely to fully disable autoaim. Thus I’ll be sticking with his mod for now, unless hollow201 can prove his mod works better (which I don’t think is possible).

The best «no auto-aim mod» IMHO is the one packaged with «Advanced VATS and FIXED Autoaim» at http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36057

I suggested he make a separate, autoaim-fix only esp but he never got back to me. I don’t exactly like the VATS changes but for the time being I deal with it.

As it was in FO3, the best way to fix autoaim is to basically «lock it» to the horizon, or as it was put in the above mod, focus it to «the edge of the game engine’s rendering distance».

Eddie’s mod gave me problems; bullets consistently hitting slightly outside the targeting reticule with 100 skill, even at VERY close ranges, point-blank headshots missing, among other things, although I must say, for sniping purposes Eddie’s no auto aim was just about perfect.

The above mod’s changes, however, are consistently flawless for my play style. At 100 guns skill and perfect 10’s on my SPECIAL (thanks to implants, Intense Training, mod-added Bobbleheads and Jarelle’s perk pack’s You Are Special [+1 all] level 30 perk), my bullets always hit exactly where i place them.

EDIT: after a little testing, though I still prefer the mod i mentioned, if this mod and Eddie’s were the only two available, I’d prefer this one. Just for the simple fact that sticking my gun in someone’s face and pulling the trigger didn’t miss once out of about 10 tries. At range they seemed about the same.
