Here’s a map that’s heavily inspired by gm_bigcity. I’ve been wanting to make a city map like this for a decade, and I’ve finally gotten around into doing just that. I probably could have gotten this out of the way a while ago, but better late than never, I suppose.
— A downtown area plus a highrise area
— A sunken highway with a couple of tunnels connecting to the other roads
— 14 buildings with interiors. There are some exterior open doors that you can walk into that teleport you into the interior. To go back outside, press E on one of the elevator doors or whatever kind of door you teleported in front of.
— An AI Nodegraph and a navmesh
— HDR
— A single soundscape throughout the map. The reason it’s just one is because I’m not great at soundscapes. I’ll probably work on that later as well.
— A single cubemap that actually works (at least on my end, though I made sure it wasn’t just the leftover bsp that had that) unlike the ones in the previous map I uploaded
— Two custom models (A tree and a basketball hoop) used in the map that you can use yourself
— A couple of secrets
Doctor Flounder Box, for the basketball hoop model
Blueberry_Pie, for coming up with the illuminated window technique (night version)
KingPomme, for expanding on that technique (night version)
bshadow, for the invisible rad light technique used for the streetlights (night version)
Jakobi O’Brien, for helping me out with a bit of optimization (Though I didn’t do a great job with it on this update. I’ll probably work on it some more on the next update)
Valve and CGTextures, for the source material used for the custom textures
Everyone who gave feedback on the map in the work-in-progress thread
You won’t need Counter Strike: Source or Left 4 Dead for the textures on this map to work, for those of you who don’t have either game. There is also a night version of this map which is the original, if you want to check that out.
Also, I just noticed that there’s a bug on this map where small flickering black triangles will appear in the corners of the skybox if you look at any of those corners. I have no idea how to fix this, though it’s not too noticable. I’m thinking it has something to do with the render distance, which wouldn’t really make any sense since the skybox isn’t supposed to have that issue.

Large map with unimaginative yet descriptive title.
Lovingly handcrafted and complete with NPC nodes.
Suitable for roleplay, construction, machinima-ing, or whatever else you want.
Evocity V33X/V4b1/V2P Hl2 Ep1 & Ep2 textures/models
Pack of the hl2 ep1 and 2 textures/models so people without the content can see everything, This also has Sgt.Sickness’s missing textures with it aswell so Credits to him for that and for the great map.
At last after bugs, bugs, and many other headaches. I managed to finish an improved version of my previous GM Big Metropolys map.
Remember that this map is a modification of gm_bi.

I went ahead and made some big changes to this map. For a while, I’ve been working on updating this map and was hoping to get it out eventually, and thankfully it’s pretty much taken care of.
New features:
— Improved areas
— Improved nodegraph. There are now AI nodes in the interiors.
— Improved cubemaps
— About a dozen more interiors
— A couple new underground areas
— Some new areaportals in an attempt to improve the optimization
— Probably some other stuff I forgot
Doctor Flounder Box, for the basketball hoop model
Grenade Man, for the door pack he made
Blueberry_Pie, for coming up with the illuminated window technique
KingPomme, for expanding on that technique
