GTA Trilogy Chaos Mod
Welcome to the official GTA Trilogy Chaos Mod repository!
This repository, together with this README, is still very much WIP.
Seeing as I’m pretty burnt out on this project I’ve decided to put it on hiatus for the time being.
What I mean by that is that it’s on hiatus from my side, meaning that PRs will still be accepted.
Doing this all on my own is pretty taxing and I have other, more important (and interesting) things to do and worry about.
What does this mod do?
Similar to the old Vice City Chaos% mod by Lightnat0r, it activates effects in the corresponding game every X seconds / minutes (cooldown can be defined in the GUI tool).
Which GTA games does it support?
It started off as a mod for San Andreas, which is the one that is mainly supported right now.
However, there is already basic support for Vice City and III implemented. It will take longer to bring all (if possible) custom effects over, and also implement their corresponding ingame cheats though.
Which versions of the games does it support?
GTA San Andreas: v1.0 US
GTA Vice City: v1.0 US
GTA III: v1.0 US
So far only San Andreas is officially supported.
Vice City and III have some sort of basic support in already, but the GUI Tool doesn’t support them yet.
How do I downgrade my game to the required version?
There’s a handy thread over on the GTA Forums that has downgraders vor GTA III, Vice City and even San Andreas.

What ASI Loader is recommended to play the mod with?
I highly recommend using the Ultimate ASI Loader by ThirteenAG purely due to the fact that it supports saving CrashDumps.
Silent’s ASI Loader works as well, but if you want to open an issue with some crashes I’ll be closing any that do not have crash dumps.
Depending on which ASI Loader you picked, the files differ in size a bit:
If you don’t need any of that, Silent’s ASI Loader will be all you need.
How do I download the mod then?
Head on over to the the Releases tab or click here.

Is there a list of all effects?
Of course! Here’s a spreadsheet that has all of them!
How do I load the last autosave when ingame?
Hold down Left CTRL when hovering over the Load Game option in the menu.
Where are the autosaves being saved to?
Inside a sub-directory called chaos_mod in your corresponding GTA User Files folder.
How do I setup the Twitch voting?
Channel: The channel you want to have the voting in
Username: The username of the account to do the voting from (can be your own, can be a channel moderator)
OAuth Token: An OAuth Token for the specified username (Can be generated here)
How do I use the polls feature for Twitch voting?
Polls are still very experimental due to Twitch not offering a decent— err, an API at all, to utilize them.
You have to be an Affiliate or Partner to be able to use this feature!
SirStendec was kind enough to provide a FrankerFaceZ Add-On that provides access to the polls functionality.
First make sure to enable Use Twitch Polls For Votes in the Settings tab.
To use it, first you need to install FrankerFaceZ in your browser.
Now head into the Poll-Shim menu to the left (or click on Settings after installing it).
Make sure Enable Poll-Shim is checked and enter any passphrase into the Passphrase field.
The passphrase you have entered also needs to be put into the GTA Trilogy Chaos Mod program.
Also make sure to have your dashboard open (or, optionally, after doing this setup, a popout chat from your channel will work, too).
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
You need to have a valid Twitch setup (Channel, Username, OAuth Token) and it needs to be connected for polls to work!
I have a suggestion for an effect!
Also great! Feel free to create an issue with that as well, best to explain what it should do in detail.
It could be that it is pretty much impossible to implement, or that I just won’t consider working on it because there are already effects that are similar to it though, so keep that in mind.

This mod has been tested with the Steam version of the game. While the mod will still mostly work for the other versions of the game, crashes might occur with specific effects (especially for the Epic Games version) so make sure to report those!
FiveM SP support is currently still experimental! If you want to play the mod with the least amount of issues, please install the mod the traditional way (into the GTA V directory along with Asiloader + ScriptHookV).

Chaos Mod V is an attempt to mimic the Chaos mods found on SA and VC.
Basically, every 30 seconds the game will trigger a random effect. This effect can be anything from giving you an RPG to exploding all nearby vehicles or making every nearby ped dance.
There are one-time and timed effects. One timed effects will run only once when the effect is started, while timed effects will run for 90 seconds (by default) after they’ve been started.
This makes gameplay significantly more surprising, as literally anything could happen every time an effect starts. Right now the mod features around 300 unique effects.
A spreadsheet containing all the existing effects can be found here (may not always include effects added in new updates immediately).
The mod also comes with a simple configuration tool. You can do anything from changing how often an effect should start to toggling individual effects and changing all kind of settings individually for any effect.
Also this mod is open source and licensed with GPLv3. Feel free to do whatever you want with it as long as it doesn’t violate the license in any way and you credit me accordingly.
Vanilla (preferred)
Make sure you have ScriptHookV installed!
Otherwise just drop the ChaosMod.asi and the chaosmod folder (don’t extract the content!) into your GTA directory.
FiveM
Drop the ChaosMod.asi into the plugins folder inside the FiveM/FiveM Application Data/ folder (create the plugins folder if it doesn’t exist already).
The chaosmod folder still goes into your normal GTA directory.
Please do note that some mods (e.g. trainers or visual mods) can conflict with some effects! If you are experiencing any problems try disabling all other mods before reporting them back!
Also make sure you run chaosmod/ChaosModVConfig.exe to look through its options to customize the mod to your liking!
Make sure to check the config utility every once in a while to see if there’s an update available!
Warning: Some effects have the potential to induce a seizure / cause problems for users with Tinnitus. If this is a concern for you, you might want to disable the following effects:

Rainbomizer is a randomizer for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Experimental Randomizers (expect crashes / softlocks)
Other versions of the game will not work and will most likely cause a crash.
Installation requires an ASI Loader to be installed.
Ultimate ASI Loader by ThirteenAG is a popular option since it supports CrashDumps, which will be necessary if you want to report a crash.
If you already have mods like CLEO, you probably already have an ASI Loader installed.
If you wish to change any of the mod’s functionalities, for example to disable a specific randomizer, a configuration file ( config.toml ) has been provided with the mod. The config file is located in the rainbomizer folder in the game’s root directory.
The configuration file is in the TOML format. It is similar in structure to INI’s, but with a defined and better structure. It can be opened and edited with a basic text editor such as Notepad++.
To configure a specific randomizer, search for its name in the section listing all of the Randomizers at the top of the file. You can set the «Enabled» key to ‘true’ or ‘false’ to enable or disable it respectively.
Many randomizers allow you to further customise how each individual randomizer works via further sub-options as you proceed through the file. These options can allow you to enable or disable certain things about each randomizer, increase or decrease odds of specific things happening, or force something specific to always happen, such as a certain mission or vehicle spawn.
Please note that randomizers listed under the Experimental section are disabled by default as they are not thoroughly tested and are known to cause crashes and / or softlocks. Enable such options at your own discretion.
More information about how to configure each specific randomizer option is provided in the default config file.
This mod features full compatibility with all of the effects in the GTA Trilogy Chaos Mod by Lordmau5 for those who wish to use the two mods together. As they are often combined, we made an effort to make sure it was supported by the Rainbomizer.
Please note that compatibility with other mods not mentioned here is not guaranteed, and we recommend removing them if you are having frequent crashes or other issues, or else disabling randomizers which you think may not be functional with them. However, minor mods such as those that modify a vehicle’s appearance are likely to work.
You can contribute to the project by reporting any crashes/issues you encounter in the Issues section of the repository.
Pull requests are welcome, but are required to follow the current style used in the project.

ChaosIV is a Chaos mod for Grand Theft Auto IV inspired by similar mods for GTA V, GTA San Andreas and GTA Vice City. The mod has been tested to work with 1.0.4.0, 1.0.7.0 and the Complete Edition (1.2.0.43), though it may likely also work with 1.0.8.0.
Twitch Chat Voting
Currently not implemented in version 1.4. If you still want Twitch Chat Voting support, you can download the special ChaosIV Twitch Edition.
In order to use this mod, you will need an ASI Loader, ScriptHook and ScriptHookDotNet.

This package includes an ASI Loader, ScriptHook, ScriptHookDotNet and the Compatibility Patch. Just Drag & Drop all files in to you main directory of GTA IV.
Version 1.4: Copy all files into your scripts folder
Just copy all the downloaded files in to your main directory of GTA IV. (Only in upcoming version 1.5)

Name of effect
The name of the effect.
Duration if timed effect (How many seconds should the effect last?)
How long should the effect last? In seconds.
Effect Description
The description of what the effect should do.
