Best GW2 Addons That Give You an Advantage
Addons are enhancements you can put download and use on a game to make it more fun or add another element. GW2 does not make addons, but there are plenty of third party addons to choose from. Here are the top ten addons to change your GW2 world.
1. Tactical Overlay, or TacO
TacO is an addon used by many to help in gameplay. It is generally one of the most useful addons available.
2. Personal Assistant Overlap, or PAO
PAO is an addon that gives you updates on where things are. Think of it as your personal secretary reminding you of when your appointments are, only this is a small drop-down box on your screen that gives you the times of upcoming events.
When GW2 added mounts, people were ecstatic. The hype didn’t go down, but some people were frustrated when they weren’t able to swap their mounts. With this addon, swapping mounts is made easy.
Arc DPS is an addon that allows you to see your characters outgoing damage. It helps you assess your damage and suggests how best to attack.
Build Templates is an addon that saves build information on your account. This is a temporary build that allows you to test out your build and see if you like it. Think of it as trying on sneakers before buying them.

Like Hook, GemFX is a graphics enhancer addon. It offers some new things that GemFX did not, which gives the player a different experience.
If you are new to GW2, or even if you have been playing for a while, one of the more frustrating parts can be navigating the map. Whether that is trying to find your way from point a to point b or trying to see what other parts of the map look like and have to offer. Augmented Tyria is definitely an add on by the people, for the people.

Overwolf is an honorable mention. While it is not technically an addon, it is a site that lists most addons for GW2.
Addons can increase your game play, make finding things easier, simplify your screen, and more. They are not a must in GW2, but they make playing easier and more entertaining. I love using TacO, especially since some of those jumping puzzles are literally impossible to find without help. GemFX is also a great addon to start with as it is simple to use and offers a great system to customize what you see and gets you excited about playing GW2.

Всем привет. Сегодня любопытная новость – анет официально дала “зелёный свет” аддону для сохранения билдов в Guild Wars 2!
В принципе, этот аддон существует уже достаточно давно, но раньше его использование могло привести к бану в игре, т.к. его использование нарушало пользовательское соглашение. Несколько месяцев разработчики аддона работали с представителями ArenaNet и теперь его официально разрешено использовать.
ВНИМАНИЕ! Несмотря на то, что ArenaNet разрешила его использование, это всё же сторонний аддон, созданный фанатами. Вы используете его на свой страх и риск и ни разработчики аддона, ни ArenaNet не несут ответственности за какие-либо проблемы, возникшие при его использовании.
Итак, что это за аддон?
На самом деле это аддон для аддона 🙂 Если ещё точнее – это дополнение для известного многим arcdps – дпс-метра для GW2. Не знаете что это такое? Тогда начнём сначала, если у вас уже установлен arcdps – можете переходить ниже 🙂
Краткая инструкция по установке arcdps:
Скачиваем файл d3d9.dll отсюда – https://www.deltaconnected.com/arcdps/x64/
Сохраняем его в папку \bin64\ в каталоге где установлена игра (например C:\games\GuildWars2\bin64)
Запускаем игру и видим панель с настройками, где выставляем нужные вам настройки дпс метра. Подробнее о них см. в документации выше.
Внимание! Иногда интерфейс аддона может застревать. Он продолжает работать, но желательно перезапустить игру.
На слабых машинах может приводить к фризам и тормозам
Вам нужно будет регулярно обновлять arcdps, так как после обновлений игры он может приводить к вылетам. Если обновление игры вышло, а обновления дпс-метра ещё нет, то чтобы избавиться от вылетов, вам нужно просто удалить файл d3d9.dll из папки \bin64\
Краткая инструкция по установке и использованию билд шаблонов.
Качаем файлик d3d9_arcdps_buildtemplates.dll отсюда https://www.deltaconnected.com/arcdps/x64/buildtemplates/
Помещаем его всё в ту же папочку \bin64\
Запускаем игру. Комбинация alt-shift-d вызывает окошко для сохранения и восстановления шаблонов.
Вы можете выбрать что сохранить – трейты, снаряжение, умения.
Кнопка Save сохраняет выбранное. Кнопка Overwrite – перезаписывает. Кнопка Load соответственно загружает.
Ограничения
Загрузка темплейтов вне городов/хабов ограничена 500мс на команду.
Загрузка темплейтов во время PvP матчей отключена.
Загрузка темплейтов на wvw требует наличия баффов determined, или gliding (т.е. доступно только в своих локациях и базах)

Отдельно в описании указано, что это решение временное, до появления “родного” решения в самой игре.

Каждый из вас имеет уникальную возможность потестировать элитные спеки на Ревенанта, Воина и Элементалиста в течение 4 дней, с 21 по 25 сентября. На экране создания персонажа вам будут доступны три дополнительных бета-слота под новые элитные спеки. В их инвентаре будут лежать различные сеты снаряжения, так что можете открыть и попробовать разные стили геймплея. Анонс стрима уже висит на главной странице канала в разделе «Запланированные трансляции». Можете нажать на стриме «НАПОМНИТЬ», чтобы получить уведомление о старте.
21 сентября, после обновления, в меню настроек «Graphic Options» появится галочка на тест Direct X 11. После применения этой настройки необходимо перезайти в игру, чтобы изменения вступили в силу. Данная функция находится в тестовом режиме. Если будут проблемы, то можете отключить настройку.
С 24 сентября по 1 октября пройдёт первый бета-тест системы альянсов на WvW! Скоро сервера Guild Wars 2 перестанут иметь хоть какое-то значение, поскольку гильдии разных серверов смогут объединяться в альянсы и выступать, как одно целое! В течение теста на вас будут висеть бафы на +100% к опыту WvW, 25% бонус к прогрессу reward-track, и 50% бонус к magic find.

В шопе Guild Wars 2 появился новый предмет.
За 1000 гемов можно открыть все телепорты локаций Heart of Thorns и Path of Fire, если неохота бегать своими ножками. Если учитывать, что разблокировка всех вейпоинтов Центральной Тирии стоит 2000 гемов, то это довольно выгодная вещица! Но если это ваше первое прохождение истории ГВ2, то не советую юзать такой предмет. Это для второго, третьего и прочих персонажей.

В начале сентября на мой канал прилетел интересный комментарий.
В нём автор обвинял меня в предвзятости по отношению к бесплатным играм и расхваливании Guild Wars 2. В конце текста он призвал меня к публичному обсуждению, и я, конечно, согласился!
В итоге, это вылилось в гигантский подкаст, в котором мы обсудили всё, что могли! И BDO, и Линейку, и Lost Ark, и Neverwinter, в общем, коснулись многих тем и жанра ММОРПГ!

А в обсуждении только «автобатл, автолевелинг, автобаночки» и прочее. Почему ЭТОТ пласт фактор не был затронут? Конечно, это самособой разумеющееся и исходящее из понятия «фришка», но именно этот факт играет весьма значимую роль в выборе «пойти на очередную фришку или переосилить себя и попробовать б2п или п2п»

It’s the end of the year, so it’s safe for me to give Guild Wars 2 my award for Best Stereoscopic 3D Game of 2012. This award is coveted by nobody in the world, ever. But if it was, ArenaNet would be proud today.
It has a dynamically rendering mouse, for goodness’ sake. This game was designed to be played in stereoscopic 3D. It’s a mind-blowing experience.
GW2 released with a number of anomalies, namely shadows and some UI elements, but guess what: every single one of these issues has been addressed by the developer, ArenaNet. Dynamic shadows and ground spell effects remain slightly too deep, but it’s acceptable.
The only thing the Helix Mod is really needed for is personal preference issues. I like UIs to render with depth. That is what this fix accomplishes.

You can set the UI depth to whatever you want by modifying the Const3 value under each preset. This has to be a floating point value, converted to hexadecimal. There are four presets, so you can have four different depths.

I remember this game having problems with shadows in 3D, did they ever fix that?
Yes, I mentioned that in the post. Shadows have been greatly improved since release. Every anomaly I had identified while playing has eventually been addressed by the developer.
I can still tell that shadows and ground effects are a tiny bit too deep, but other than that the game renders 99% perfectly. Performance is still pretty rough, though.

This didn’t work for me
I only seem to have 3 or 4 files and each of their images has a padlock on it. Do you need to do something special to get the fix to work?

Yes, GW2 is really weird and only has 3 files. You’re doing okay on that front.
I usually use the SweetFX injector at the same time I use Helix Mod, so I disabled it so I could see a typical user’s experience. And you’re right, the fix doesn’t work with the release version of the Helix Mod dll.
But it does work for me in two situations: It works when I am also using SweetFX, and it works with the debugger dll (whether SweetFX is in use or not).
I played around with some stuff, but I couldn’t find a way to get the fix to work with the release dll alone. I’ve heard of this problem before; where a fix doesn’t work with the release dll but does work with the debugger dll. Maybe running another injector at the same time is another workaround for this weird problem.
For now, I can recommend to use the debugger with the red text turned off (Press F11 until it goes away). I added it to the downloads section of this post.
Or, you can try out another DX9 injector to run in concert with the Helix Mod release dll (the dll that comes with the fix). I’ll use SweetFX as an example, which is amazing and easy to set up.
First make sure FXAA antialiasing is disabled for the game. SweetFX has its own AA method, which conflicts with FXAA.
To get it working with Helix mod, extract SweetFX to the same location as Gw2.exe and rename d3d9.dll to d3d9fx.dll. Then put the Helix Mod release dll (the one from the fix’s zip file) in that location, and make sure it’s called d3d9.dll.
Now, open DX9Settings.ini and add «Proxylib = (. )\Guild Wars 2\d3d9fx.dll» (without the quotes) to the first line under [General]. Change (. ) to the exact path of your Guild Wars 2 folder.
After that, the last thing to do is load the game. The Helix Mod fixes should be working now, too.
Play around with SweetFX settings in «SweetFX_settings.txt» and find what you like. I recommend cranking up Lumasharp and enabling Curves. You can tab out of game to edit and save the settings file. They will take effect when tabbing back in.
