Hero of the Village is a Minecraft status effect that was added in the Village and Pillage update. It is awarded to players who successfully defend a village from a Pillager raid. With it comes a few advantages in the Village that the player defended.
What Does the Hero of the Village Effect Do in Minecraft
The primary result of having the Hero of the Village effect is that Villagers in the town you defended will greatly decrease the cost of trading for items. Depending on the version of Minecraft you are playing, this effect will last either 40 or 60 minutes. The version you are playing can also affect the level of the effect you receive.
The Hero of the Village effect does more for Java players than it does for Bedrock players. On this platform, the effect only last 40 minutes, but you do not risk losing it be exiting the Village’s radius. It also randomizes the level of the effect, which can increase your discount when trading.
The minimum effect level you’ll receive is Hero of the Village I, which gives you a 30 percent discount while trading. Each additional level beyond Tier I gives you an additional 6.25 percent discount. Since the maximum effect level you can receive is Hero of the Village V, this means the greatest discount you can receive is 55 percent.
Bedrock
In the Bedrock version of Minecraft, the effect has a maximum tier of Hero of the Village I, which means it can only give you a 30 percent discount while trading. The effect last up to 60 minutes in Bedrock, but if you exit the Village’s radius, it gives you 13 seconds to return before the status effect is lost.
Gifts
Players can only receive gifts from Villagers if they have the Hero of the Village effect active. Once they drop a gift for the player, there is a randomize cooldown stage that lasts from 30 seconds to 5 1/2 minutes. The following list provides all the possible items that each type of villager may give you.
It’s worth mentioning that since it is like any other status effect, it can be removed by drinking Milk, using the Totem of Undying, or dying!

The villagers’ Gift [ ]
The all loot tables of villagers gifts except fletchers’. But the loot table of fletcher’s gift is differently.
the weight of normal arrow is 26,and others are 1. but the tipped arrow have 50% chance wont drop anything.

Hero of the Village
Hero of the Village is a status effect granted to the player upon defeating a raid.

Effect [ ]
Players receive gifts [ JE only ] and discounts from villager trades while under the effect. In Bedrock Edition, the effect is active only if the player is in the village in which the raid has been defeated. It does not affect the wandering trader’s trades.
Animation [ ]

In Bedrock Edition, upon the effect being given a short animation of the effect icon appearing on the screen plays, similar to a Totem of Undying, Bad Omen, or Mining Fatigue.
Price decrement [ ]
Example: Level III would give a 42.5% discount. For trade with 14 emeralds as the cost, the discount would be 5 emeralds (rounded down from 5.95 emeralds), for a final price of 9 emeralds.
Hero of the Village is a status effect and can be removed through all conventional methods, such as drinking milk, using Totem of Undying, or dying. [ Java Edition only ]
Gifts [ ]
Upon obtaining the effect, villagers randomly throw items from a certain pool at the player as rewards, listed below. In order for a player to have gifts thrown to them, they must have Hero of the Village, the villager must be able to see them, and they must be within 5 blocks of the villager. After throwing a gift, a villager enters a cooldown lasting between 30 seconds and 5min 30 sec. Villagers give gifts only while idle, working, or meeting at the town center (bell). They do not give gifts during the night when they should be sleeping.
Villagers might pick up seeds they throw if the player doesn’t pick them up in time, because villagers pick up seeds if /gamerule mobGriefing is set to true.

Since we have the «Hero of the Village» status effect, we can trade 16 carrots for an emerald, instead of the regular price of 22 carrots (which is the amount that has a red line through it).
There are levels of Hero of the Village such as Hero of the Village II, Hero of the Village III, Hero of the Village IV and so on. The higher the level of Hero of the Village, the better the trade discounts from the Villagers.
Icon and Particle Effects
When you have the «Hero of the Village» effect, the following icon will appear in the top right corner of your screen:
You will also see particle effects floating around you. In the latest version of Minecraft, these particle effects will be green.
When the «Hero of the Village» effect wears off, the icon and particle effects will disappear. You will be back to your normal status and will no longer be given discounts when trading with Villagers.
Duration
Depending on how you get the effect, the duration of the «Hero of the Village effect» will be different. To see how much time is remaining for the effect, go to your inventory menu.
In this example, it says 2:42 under «Hero of the Village» so this means that there is 2 minutes and 42 seconds remaining of the «Hero of the Village» effect.
TIP: We have noticed that when you get the «Hero of the Village» status effect after completing a Raid, your «Hero of the Village» duration will tick between 0:12 and 0:13 until you leave the village area. So you should be able to do all of the discounted trading that you want!
