Kingpin life of crime моды

Hypov8 has finished updating hte Godfather mod and it’s now at ver 2.0.

He has fixed all the bugs, added five new game modes and added a couple of new features:-

We will test the new version at the Thursday game and, if no further bugs found, then release the server files.

I do recommend downloading the Godfather Autoexec.cfg file though as it contains the client commands you use in the mod. You can use the preset keys or you can edit the file to set your own key binds.

The keybinds in the Autoexec are:-

bind «i» «showstats» //show current leader stats/your game stats
bind «u» «showtable» //show ranking system
bind «k» «teleport» //use teleporter
bind «j» «teleport_set» //set teleport position (for later use)

The zipfile also contains a comprehensive readme for the mod.

Just unzip all the files to your kingpin folder and they will be placed in the correct locations (kingpin/godfather).

Godfather Mod Updated

Hypov8 has added antilag to the old Godfather mod and release Godfather 1.7a. Fredz has created a Linux version.

Godfather is a DM style mod but is unique in that it has levels. You gain levels by earning points by fragging other players. The higher the level the better the ammo and armour you spawn with. The goal is to reach the highest level and be crowned Godfather for that level.

Frag everyone, but the higher the level of the people you kill, the quicker you’ll get to battle for the title of Godfather.

Lower levels get more points for killing higher levels and vice versa. There are other bonuses and penalties as well such as once you reach level 4 (Hitman) if you are killed by a lower level you will lose some points.

The mod is server side only which means you don’t need any files to connect to a server however the server files contain an autoexec.cfg which contains some key binds you need for the mod so I recommend you download them. Other wise you can bind the keys when you join a server.

Just unzip all the file to your kingpin folder and they will be placed in the correct locations.

Killapin Mod V1.0 Released

Monkey Harris has released v1.0 of the Killapin Mod.

Killapin mod is a 3 player team based mod. A good playable 3 team game will be easily achieved with a server of 12 players. However should there be lower numbers, then a 2 player game can be played. The 3 teams are dragons, nikkis and the jokers. The objective of the game will be to gain points. Points are obtained by capturing control points (hoods) and bonus points for killing enemy Bosses and minions.

It is the job of the Boss to get his squad close to the control points, capture the control points and to keep his squad tooled up (There are no weapons, ammo, armour etc. Maps and any maps with such items in them will not be loaded by the server). The members of a squad spawn with little ammo (Minions section 1) and will work, within close proximity of their Boss or they will starve of health and ammo and die.

Monkey Harris has released new client files for the Crash mod (beta 0.6). They contain new team skins for the Crash Squad and Crenshaw Mafia teams by DirtyDog and a new Grenade model by Hypov8 and a few other updates.

You can download the v06 client files from here.

Just extract/unzip the files to your Kingpin folder and overwrite any existing files with the new ones.

You will need these new client files to connect to the Crash Mod servers now as they have been updated to v.06.

If you have old client files but have the unofficial patch (MH Kingpin patch) installed you are given an option to re-download the client files when you join a server by using the REDOWNLOAD command.

Crash Mod Server Files Updated To V06

Monkey Harris has released v06 server files for the Crash Mod for both Linux and Windows.

v06 features many bug fixes and improvements:-

Next map voting during intermission («allow_map_voting» crash.cfg option)
The bomb now takes 4s to plant, 7s to defuse, 60s to detonate
Flashing red light enabled on armed bombs
New «bomb planted» radio message
Need to crouch when defusing the bomb
Spectators can see their target’s bomb planting/defusing progress
Dead players will spectate the bomb holder or VIP by default
Spectators are taken to the bomb’s location when there are no players left to watch
Grenades are released more quickly (matches the molotov)
Molotovs no longer do damage through doors Grenades/molotovs are dropped and explode when a player is killed mid-throw
Scope hint shown upon first use of the sniper rifle
Using the scope no longer increases the power of the sniper rifle
Multiple players can spawn next to each other at a spawnpoint when all are occupied
Dead player bodies stay in the map until the end of the round
«timelimit» can be set to 0 for no limit
Commands (eg. «changemap») can be used during the intermission
Deathmatch game mode on normal maps (without bomb site or VIP escape)
GeoIP stuff removed (now handled by kpded2)
Fix for pipe swinging player animation
Fix for broken weapon binds when leaving to a non-Crash server and then returning
Explosive props can now do damage (set in «dmg» value) by Captain Death
Lifts and triggers are reset at the start of each round by Captain Death
Updated team skins by DirtyDog
New grenade model by HypoV8

You can download the Crash server files for both Windows and Linux from here.

If you are going to run a Crash server you need the client file too as they contain the Crash Mod maps and also so players can download the client files, from the server, if they don’t have them already.

It is recommended that you use the KPDED2 Enhanced Kingpin Server File to run your server. Apart from many other fixes and improvements it allows players to download the client files from your server.

CTF Server Files Updated

Captain Death has updated the server files for the Colors CTF, CTF Christmas, and CTF Halloween mods.

You can grab the updated server files from here.

Just a reminder that if you are planning on running a server for one or more of these mods you will require the relevant client files as well as they contain all the maps.

Also if you are planning on running a public server you will need the Enhanced Kingpin Server files from here.

Here is a new map for the Crash Mod called BOM Too Much Blood. It is a remake of my old death match map Too Much Blood ver3.

It is a medium sized map for the bombing scenario.

It’s an urban style map, slightly dark, and it’s raining too.

New Xmas Crash Mod Map

Here is a map for the XMas Crash Mod called Xmas BOM Too Much Blood. It is a remake of my old death match map Too Much Blood ver3.

It’s a Christmas map so it’s snowing and the map is covered in snow. There are Christmas posters and song samples as well.

If you’re wondering why I released an Xmas map now it’s because I have made a version for normal Crash mod as well. This map was already in beta so I just updated it and released it at the same time.

Kingpin: Life of Crime mod | Released 2011

This mod is awesome! any chance of the source code getting released down the line? I’d love compatibility with one of the coop mods floating around the internet

Enemies are still pretty tough against an unmodded pistol, not sure if that was intentional, but without using the «get cash» cheat to buy the magnum mod, it can be pretty difficult getting past the first set of thugs until you pick up a shotgun from an enemy.

Not great, the loading screens are all pixelated, there is no 1360×768 resolution, why did you removed the gibs? Still no mouse cursor on title screen, some weird movement on the textures, the controls are still bad, etc, but seems like you made the graphics better.

Something wrong on your end. Gibs are still there too.

The original had a lot of serious issues namely Enemy AI deadly accuracy. The most amazing improvement is the shortgun effect and Enemy Hitpoints. On Easy the gameplay was never an issue BUT on Medium and higher it was almost impossible to enjoy without extreme frustrations and weapons lack the punch over taking Enemies in few hits.
The Rags2Riches is the only Mod that actually solved the issue finally making game more enjoyable even on Real difficulty.

This game reminds me Freedom Fighters amazing Gang orders. I request to implement another option to make my Gangs (Thugs) to accept better weapons given by me, just like telling them to replace pistols with the shotguns since the dead enemies leave behind many weapons.
My Gang should be able to pick the fallen weapons and equip them.
Also, another change requested is to select entire group of gangs rather single thugs to give orders of attacking upcoming enemies.

Thanks for the review. These are some good ideas but I don’t know if I’ll ever do anything else with this mod. I’m currently working on a MP2 mod which will be my last mod for some time. I’m trying to learn how to play the guitar and I need to devote more time to that. It’s either one or the other for me since I’m usually very busy and I don’t have nearly as much time to mod as I use to. But you never know. Maybe down the road I’ll add a little more to this mod and take into consideration what you have requested. Don’t forget to rate this mod. Thanks again.

I want to play this amazing mod over original for the amazing improvements but need serious help on installing this mod.
I have the GOG version (good old games) DRM free Kingpin patched to v1.21.

As per the Rags2Riches Readme, I replaced «gamex86.dll» and the Pak0.pak file (with Pak7.pak) from the main folder and when executed the kingpin launcher a blank grey screen appears only. Nothing happens and the game won’t start.

Is this game compatible with the GOG version.
Do I need to change something for the game to read the Mod files??

So this is a really old comment but in case somebody stumbles upon it having the same issue:

I don’t think you’re supposed to replace Pak0.pak with Pak7.pak. Just place Pak7 in the main folder(no renaming), since there is no file in the original with that name no overwriting is needed. gamex86.dll however needs to be replaced with the mod version.

This is what I did and it worked fine.

I cant seem to get it to work in full screen mode on my laptop. I will try on my desktop but, every time I bump the resolution up it bounces me out to windowed mode. any suggestions?

That’s strange. Let me know what happens on your desktop.

Sorry, it has taken me a while to get back on this topic. I finally tried it on my desktop and no dice. Out of curiosity, did you test this mod with the CD version? right now I have it installed on steam, but I do have the CD version from way back when somewhere. If you have not tried it on the steam version then maybe that is what is causing the problem. I could try messing with the «launch options» to see if that makes things work any better. I might also try and dig up the old CD copy I have and see if that works any better.

I use the cd version.
