With the new Nether update for Minecraft, the strongest material in the game has shifted from Diamond to Netherite.

To find Netherite, you have to go into the Nether, as the name suggests. To get Netherite gear, you’ll have to find and smelt Ancient Debris. This will turn it into Netherite Scraps. You’ll then craft four Netherite Scraps with four Gold Ingots, which will give you Netherite Ingots. You can use these to upgrade your tools.

To find Ancient Debris, first you’ll need a Diamond Pickaxe. If you mine the Ancient Debris block with anything less, it won’t drop anything. The blocks can be found at level 8 through 22 (and only in the Nether), so you’ll have to carefully mine in the Nether to find it. To see what depth you’re at, Bedrock players will have to enable the “show coordinates” option in game settings. PC Java players can press F3 to toggle an interface that says where they are. The second of the three numbers listed is your Y-coordinate, so you’ll have to aim for it to be between 8 and 22.

Because the Nether has random holes and drops, you’ll want to be careful that you don’t fall into lava. We recommend building a staircase-like mine entrance, rather that one that drops straight down.

Once you arrive in the right levels, you should be able to eventually find Ancient Debris just from mining in various directions. Like mining in Overworld, beware of lava and make sure to keep tabs of where you are so you don’t get lost. Ancient Debris doesn’t show up very often, but if you keep at it, you’ll find it soon enough.

Minecraft Netherite

Netherite material was added to the game with the 1.16 update of Minecraft. It is famous for its fire resistance and the corresponding Netherite armor, Netherite weapons and Netherite tools. Here we describe the best place to find Netherite and what it takes to make it.

How to get Netherite

Netherite is quite a rare ore. Netherite can only be obtained from Ancient Scrap, which is why it must first be mined. Ancient Scrap, or Ancient Rubble in the Bedrock Edition, exists only in Netherworld Bastion Ruins and can be found primarily on the Y-axis at 8-22 (possibly also 8-119).

It is so tough that it can only be mined with a diamond pickaxe. Note: Since Ancient debris is very resistant, TNT mining makes no sense!

Processing Ancient Scrap to Netherite

A rough overview of Netherite production:

Ancient Scrap ➝ Netherite Slabs ➝ Netherite Ingots ➝ Netherite Items

Ancient debris is the first step to your Nether Armor or Nether Tools. Once you have collected a sufficient number, you can melt them in a furnace. This will produce Netherite plates.

If you add gold to Netherite Plates in the Workbench, this creates a Netherite Bar. With this you can finally build Netherite armor or Netherite tools and weapons!

Good to know about Netherite

Netherite bars cannot be burned by lava or fire. Therefore, netherite bars also float on lava.

You can make a Netherite block from 9 Netherite ingots at the workbench. This also works in reverse, so 1 Netherite Block becomes 9 Netherite Bars.

Netherite – the strongest material for armor

The effort is quite big, but it’s worth it! Netherite is the strongest material Minecraft has to offer and a Netherite armor can withstand pretty much any monster! So, the little black Netherite bar is super valuable and very useful.

A maximum Netherite armor can take 80% damage and has 8 defensive points. The durability of a netherite armor is very high, it can withstand up to 592 hits (in comparison: an iron armor is around 240 hits).

Conclusion about Netherite in Minecraft

If you want to go into a massive battle, or storm a bastion: Netherite as armor or as a weapon is perfect for that. But if you prefer to have good, long-lasting tools for mining any material, it is of course recommended to use the Netherite for building tools such as pickaxe, axe, or shovel.
