Challenge Mode: Once you’ve beaten the game go to the world map it doesn’t matter which world. Then press the start button to have the pause menu coming up. Now press the following buttons in the exact same order to activate the secret challenge mode. L, R, L, R, X, X, Y, Y(these are the buttons you have to press). One the Challenge Mode is activated enter a level of your choice doesn’t matter which one. You’ll notice that the screen will scroll through the level so that means that you can’t return if you missed some coins or something. To de-activate the challenge mode repeat the same procedure as described above.
1-UP Mushrooms: 1-UP Mushrooms can be found by hitting/smashing blocks. They give Mario an extra life.
Blue Koopa Shells: You can win Blue Koopa Shells in Red Toad Houses. They give Mario a shell on his back, where he can dodge enemy attacks.
Coins: Coins can be found in the open or hiden within blocks. You also recieve 1 coin for each enemy you kill with fire balls. When you get 100 coins, you get an extra life.

When you beat the game on multiplayer( may also work on single player), there will be credits. The credits are made out of blocks. Hit them! Some will have nothing, some have one coin, and some have multiple coins! Get as many as you can! On multiplayer, try to get more coins than anyone else( the number of coins you collect are on the top left side of the screen. Also the characters that you play with are left out they will be dancing on either side).
when you get 99 lives Mario will not have a cap. when you lose a life he will get it back. not really a cheat but a Easter egg. watch my video. video link at top of this.

Towards the end of 3-1, you’ll find a few blocks that lead a path to a pipe. Get a Penguin suit and run towards the blocks and then press down. Slide and smash the blocks and go into the pipe.
In the area the pipe leads you to, a pipe will release penguins. Just a little below is a space with the last Star Coin. Stand a little to the left where you have a little jump room. The penguins will hit the wall and turn towards you. When one gets near, jump and freeze it, then jump on it.
Just before the penguin will go through the tight space, hold down the down button on the control pad. When you get through the space, jump just before the penguin falls down into the hole.

You should get the Star Coin and jump onto a blue line of ground. You just go back into the pipe you entered from and finish the level.
To get a mushroom house to appear in multiplayer, you simply need to clear the level when the time has the same 2 end digits next to each other when you touch the flag pole. Examples: 544, 322, 411. Depending on the two end digits, you will make different mushroom houses appear at the start point, as you would in single player when you save a Toad, only the digits are mostly red mushroom houses. Two zeros at the end will get you nothing. When you do this, you hear the original Super Mario Bros. level clear music and see a number of fireworks depending on what the last 2 digits are. 1 firework for 11, 2 for 22, and so on.

If you go to the Toad game were you shoot to get more lives, if you shoot at the same time, then you and your friend will at least get 2 lives, and you will get another shot. Also you need to be at the final world, and your friend has to be the yellow toad. Have fun getting more lives.
If you press 1 and shake the Wii remote to pick up a small object, like a turtle shell (as opposed to just picking it up with 1), you’ll hold it above your head, protecting you from falling Bob-Ombs, etc.
Go on 2 player and carry luigi to the the finish and get all the coins in 1-1. then go to he mushroom house that you unlock. do 1-1 again and collect at least 1 silver coin and you will get another mushroom house. repeat until it stops giving it to you.
When you’re playing multiplayer and one of the players runs out of lives mid-level, he or she can still contribute to the game from the Great Beyond. Each direction of the D-pad is mapped to a different sound effect. Hold a direction and hit the 1 and 2 buttons to trigger different sounds, including clapping, a horn, kick and snare drums, and of course cowbell. The unfortunate players waiting for the level to end can add a drum line to the music.
Note: In multiplayer, you can make a Mushroom House appear using the a similar timing method. Hit the flag when the time digits end in 00,11,or 22 for a green house; 33, 44, 55, 66, 77 or 88 for a red house; or 99 for a gold house.
If you get 99 lives, the maximum number of lives in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario will lose his hat! Once you beat a level with a full 99 count, Mario will appear hat-less on the map screen and in subsequent gameplay. You’ll regain your hat once you lose a single life.

World 1: 1-3 contains an alternate route that leads to the World-5 Cannon on the world map. To find it, leap from Yoshi just above the ceiling with the hidden tunnel and dash along the top to the right to find the warp pipe. World 2: 2-6 contains an alternate exit that leads to a cannon on the world map, which can blast you to World 5. Here’s how to find it: Near the end of the level is a rep pipe high above that can warp you to the hidden flag pole, but it requires both the use of a Propeller Suit as well as the P-Switch a little ways before. Upon reaching the P-Switch, wait nearby for a few moments until the Pink-block on the track moves further up the track. Once it has, hit the switch, then make a mad dash toward the pipe by leaping from the pink-block to a series of newly formed blocks, just below the pipe—propeller from them (before they revert to coins!) into the pipe above to find the alternate exit.
World 3: The Ghost House contains a secret exit that leads to a cannon on the world map, which will blast you to World 6. Here’s how to find it: When you reach the room with the rope running along the ceiling, follow the rope so you’re just above the left-most position of the first moving platform (that is, where it’s positioned when it’s moved all the way left). Now wait for it to move away and drop off the rope—don’t worry! You’ll hand in a hidden area below, containing a door. Now just follow the rest of the level to the secret flag pole.
World 4: The Ghost House conceals an alternate route which will allow you to head straight for the world’s final castle, as well as hit-up a Gold Toad House along the way. To do so, head to the ghost house’s second room, where you’ll find the raising and lowering platforms. When you reach the one just below an item box, wait for it to drop completely, revealing a hidden door. Head on through then proceed through the last door of the area to find the secret flag pole!
World 5: There’s a hidden route inside the ghost house that, when taken, allows access to the cannon on the world map that’ll blast you to World 8. So here’s how you find it: Inside the Ghost House’s first room, drop down the first shaft, jump the second, climb the stairs and jump the third. Drop down the shaft at the otherwise dead-end, then drop down the gap just beyond to find a door. Ignore the door and head left through a fake wall to find a second door. Head on through—this will eventually lead.
