The Pillager Outpost

Three adventurers walked on a cobblestone road following the course of a river. A variety of buildings stood tall around them, part of the city of Sylnos. As the three of them continued their relaxed pace, they were talking.

«Looking forward to your first quest as guild members?» one of them asked.

The two others nodded. «Yes, we’re both excited,» one of them answered.

The other one asked, «What was your first quest in the guild like, Feridan?»

The one called Feridan replied, «Well, I joined the guild a few years back. After completing the required training, I was pretty confident that I could succeed in questing. In that first adventure, the whole guild went together to some ruins at the point where this very river next to us reaches the sea. We collected some treasure and some ancient records from the city. Then an army of drowneds came, but we managed to win against them after Arhalas defeated their leader.»

«Yes, Arhalas is definitely a great warrior,» one of the others commented. «I’m very glad I was able to join his guild.»

«Indeed. After that adventure, we had enough tridents so that each of the guild members could use them. Even the tridents you’ve been given were from that time,» Feridan said. «Well, it looks like we’ve arrived. Now we’ll get to see what our upcoming adventure will be like.»

The three of them entered one of the buildings. Once inside, they sat down among the other guild members and waited. Soon other guild members also entered the room, and once everyone arrived, the meeting began.

Arhalas, the leader and founder of the guild, stood up to speak. «Welcome to this meeting, adventurers! As you all know, our guild has been protecting this land of Rylar for years now, fighting hostile mobs and helping the nation’s citizens when they are in danger. Now a new threat seems to be arising. Outposts of pillagers are appearing throughout the land. Carithian, the commander of the city guard, has sent word to me about the location of one such outpost near the city. There are enough of us that we should be able to capture it without difficulty. Do all of you want to participate in this quest?»

The members of the guild were all in agreement: they would go on the adventure. They collected their weapons (bows and tridents), some potions of healing, and the other supplies they would need. After the adventurers were ready, they set out on their journey.

The guild members left the city by the east gate and first went along the main east road. After a short while, they turned left off of the road in order to go northwards. Soon they came to a clearing and saw the outpost they were looking for ahead. Pillagers were walking about, unaware of the adventurers.

«Archers, see if you can defeat any of the pillagers using arrows,» Arhalas commanded.

The archers in the group moved forward and waited. When the moment was right, they fired arrows at the pillagers outside. Many of the arrows were successful, but now the enemies were aware of the group’s presence.

Arhalas gave a new command. «Ready your tridents! Prepare to fight!»

As a group of pillagers moved towards them, the adventurers drew their tridents and ran forward, dodging arrows as they advanced. Once the guild members reached their enemies, they began to fight. The pillagers, now at a disadvantage since they were only armed with crossbows, were no match for the well trained warriors armed with tridents.

After defeating the first pillager group, the adventurers went inside the tower to defeat the few remaining pillagers. Having done that, they collected what few things of value were in the outpost tower and returned to the city. The guild members were glad of their success, but yet they realized that this was only the beginning. They had defeated one outpost, but there were more. The adventurers decided to stay alert and find any information they could about locations of other pillagers. When they found information, they would go on a new quest.

Pillager Outpost in Minecraft

This Minecraft tutorial explains all about Pillager Outposts with screenshots.

Where to Find a Pillager Outpost

In Minecraft, a Pillager Outpost is a structure that spawns naturally in the game near a village (about 300 blocks away from the village). The Outpost is made up of a small group of structures and is guarded by pillagers. Because the Pillager Outpost generates near a village, it can appear in any biome that a village can. For example, you can find Pillager Outposts in biomes such as the Plains, Desert, Savanna, Taiga, and so on.

Watchtower

In the center of the Pillager Outpost is a large structure called a Watchtower. This is the main structure in the Outpost and has a total of 4 levels. On each side of the Watchtower, you will find 2 illager banners hanging from the top level.

Also, on the top level of the Watchtower, you can find a chest filled with goodies.

Smaller Structures

The Pillager Outpost can also contain smaller structures surrounding the Watchtower. Commonly, you will find a cage with an Iron Golem trapped inside, like this one:

Protectors of the Pillager Outpost

The Pillager Outpost is protected by a new mob called the pillager. Once you enter the Outpost, the pillagers will begin attacking you.

Pillager

The pillager is armed with a crossbow and arrows as a weapon. So be careful around these mobs because they can shoot you from a distance making them tougher to kill.

Pillager Outpost Leader

Once you start batting the various pillagers in the Outpost, a special pillager that is the leader of the Outpost will attack you. This leader is easy to spot because it wears an illager banner on its head.

Be careful about killing this leader because once you kill the Pillager Outpost leader, you will be cursed with a new status effect called Bad Omen.

Bad Omen

The Bad Omen effect is a new status effect that causes a group of hostile mobs to spawn and attack when a player with the Bad Omen effect enters a village. This event is called a Raid.

pillager outpost в майнкрафте

When the Raid begins, a Raid progress bar will appear on the screen (similar to the Ender Dragon or Wither Boss progress bar). Next, a group consisting of pillagers, ravagers, vindicators, evokers and witches will spawn and rush toward the player with Bad Omen. As the player kills these hostile mobs, the Raid progress bar will decrease indicating how many remaining mobs must be killed to end the Raid.

Pillager Outpost Seeds

You can use a seed to create a world where you spawn in near a Pillager Outpost:

Banners [ ]

I was playing experimental game play in bedrock 1.10 and I found a pillager outpost with nine black banners.73.208.227.101 17:26, 23 March 2019 (UTC)

The term «near villages» [ ]

Can someone with code access verify that outposts indeed generate based on nearby village locations? Up to 1500 blocks away seems not really «near» and in fact is several «regions» away. By the same logic, other structures (e.g. witch huts) also generate «near villages». 1500 blocks is a really large distance in that regard. RealWormbo (talk) 19:53, 24 April 2019 (UTC)

The page previously said «100-400» so I’ve just changed it to «within a couple hundred blocks of a village». – Nixinova pillager outpost в майнкрафте pillager outpost в майнкрафте 20:04, 24 April 2019 (UTC) Even that is still wrong. The comments by developers on this invalid bug report deny any relation of outpost locations or patrol spawning to village locations. RealWormbo (talk) 15:19, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

Mob spawning [ ]

I already killed the outpost captain, so why new captains keep spawning? There is no mob spawner here. What do I need to do to get rid of them? There are already great numbers of these mobs around the outpost (I’m locked inside, installed a door and locked it).—187.94.193.57 22:45, 11 May 2019 (UTC)

Outposts are not like Woodland Mansions (more like Monuments or Fortresses) and captains are only semi-special mobs. Every illager spawning at an outpost has a 6% chance to be a captain. RealWormbo (talk) 22:47, 11 May 2019 (UTC) OK, User:RealWormbo, but, why do they keep spawning? I want to get rid of them!—187.94.193.57 16:53, 12 May 2019 (UTC) They keep spawning because that’s how structures with special mob spawning rules work. You can’t «conquer» a structure unless you remove all spawning spaces. For monuments you do that by removing the water, but how would you conquer e.g. a nether fortress? The same answer probably applies to pillager outposts. RealWormbo (talk) 16:55, 12 May 2019 (UTC) User:RealWormbo «Wither skeletons spawn in fortresses at a light level of 7 or less.» In this case it’s clear: I just need to add torches. But doesn’t seems the case of Pillagers. Or is it the case?—187.94.193.57 17:14, 12 May 2019 (UTC)

Rarity of Outposts [ ]

This page says that outposts are slightly rather than dungeons. However, I looked at the dungeon and outpost finders at this site. It looks like dungeons appear every couple hundred blocks, while outposts appear every several hundred blocks, or even a couple thousand blocks, apart. Since dungeons are underground, the difficulty to find one vs. the actual rarity is much more that that of an outpost.

I think we should remove the information that outposts are just slightly rarer than dungeons, since it is not true, and different readers will have different notions of “rare”. If we want to compare the rarity of outposts to that of another structure at all, I would probably choose villages. The Blobs pillager outpost в майнкрафте 14:04, 7 August 2019 (UTC)

How many illagers simultanously? [ ]

Hi, is there a cap on spawning if a certain umber of illagers are present in the bounding box? I have 5 around the tower atm. Also, it’s unclear around which block «71x71x71 cube centered on the watchtower» refers to.–Preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.14.244.169 ( talk ) at 23:00, 05 October 2019 (UTC). Info about spawning conditions missing [ ]

Hi, I’m missing the info about the conditions under which pillagers spawn around the tower on here. There seems to be something special about them. They tend to spawn only at daytime. But spawning can be prevented by torching up the 71×71 area around the tower. A torch grid with torches every 5th block prevents spawning completely. A normal torch-saving anti-spawning pattern with torches on every eleventh block in a row and the next column 6 blocks from it and shifted doesn’t work, though. Saw some youtubers watering up the area, that also helped. My currently used version: 1:14:4 stable. Best regards, IP 77.183.132.105 23:28, 24 October 2019 (UTC)

Outpost Captains [ ]

I play Bedrock 1.16 and, while farming Pillagers at my Outpost, I noticed that occasionally the Outpost Captain respawns with 3-4 Pillagers. It doesn’t say anything about this but I’m a new user so I want approval to edit the page. Don’t wanna do something wrong or provide misinformation :). Emosar ( talk ) 16:55, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Pillager spawn [ ]

Does anyone know what part of the structure actually causes pillagers to spawn? I’ve tried making outposts using structure blocks but they don’t spawn any pillagers. 56KPK ( talk ) 22:50, 7 March 2021 (UTC)

There is no structure. The outpost locations are based on calculated world XYZ, just like witch huts. 69.24.173.149 16:12, 21 March 2021 (UTC) @56KPK: To expand that a bit: There’s a structure, but just because you make your own villager outpost doesn’t mean you have created the spawn conditions. Apparently one of the spawn conditions is for the structure to be at a location calculated by the world generation algorithm. If that’s the case, then the question is how do you make a working pillager outpost if you’re creating your own world? Amatulic (talk) 17:43, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

Crowd of pillagers [ ]

I went to a pillager outpost near a village in bedrock edition and there was so many pillagers spilling out of the outpost idk if it was a glitch or just normal but last time I went there there was 7 outpost captains and swarming with like 30 pillagers is that the new norm for the 1.17/.18 update? – Unsigned comment added by 98.40.172.14 ( talk ) at 10:12, 30 August 2021‎ (UTC). What was the seed? It’s hard to determine what’s going on without the seed. Also, did you try to re-create the world and test it in Creative? Amatulic (talk) 12:36, 30 August 2021 (UTC)

Pillager Outpost Finder

Last Update: Jun 23, 2020 (MC 1.16)

pillager outpost в майнкрафте

Drop level.dat anywhere.

How To Use

Requirements

For technical reasons, you need to know the seed of your world to use Pillager Outpost Finder, unless, of course, you want to find a seed for a new world. If you’re playing SSP, the app is able to fetch the seed from your savegame. Alternatively, you can use the /seed command ingame. In SMP, you can use the same command if you have sufficient rights. Otherwise, however, you’re dependent on the server owner, who started the world and has access to the savegame and config files.

Technical

This app uses some relatively new web technologies. As a result, some features may be disabled for older browsers. I recommend using the latest version of a major browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari.

Usage

Seed Selection

The first thing you should do is select a seed and version. You can either type it in manually, or you can load it from your savegame. The latter can be done by clicking on «Load from Save. « and selecting your level.dat, or by drag&dropping the level.dat file into your browser window. Level.dat is a small file located in the folder of every Minecraft savegame. You can find the savegames in the saves folder of your Minecraft installation. On Windows you can use %appdata%\.minecraft\saves to get to that folder.

Levels allow you to store and reuse seeds on this website, without having to load your savegame every time. When loading a seed from a level, the seed will automatically be stored as a level.

You should also know that a seed is always a number (up to around 20 digits). If you type in anything else (like letters), it will be converted to a number. The app does this the same way Minecraft does, so it’s safe to use letters (and other characters) as well.

Navigation

Once you entered your seed and version you can start using the map. To scroll, use your arrow keys while your mouse cursor points at the map, or move your mouse while holding down the left mouse button. You can use the slider below the map or your mousewheel for zooming. The lower inputs allow you to go to a specific point (e.g., your base) of the map and set a marker there. You can always remove and add the marker by double clicking on the map. The «Save Map» button allows you to save the currently shown map as png image file.

Touchscreen

When using a touch-enabled device, an extra option for enabling/disabling touchscreen control will appear below the map. With that option enabled, you can drag the map with your finger to navigate, you can pinch to zoom in and out, and you can tap and hold to set a marker on the map. By double tapping on the map, you can quickly enable/disable the functionality as well.

Credits

Thanks to Earthcomputer for his work on bedrockified, which made it possible to support Bedrock Edition.
