This section of the site contains a wide selection of Railroad Tycoon 3 maps and extras submitted by forum members. A collection of maps from the Heineken & Pacific Railroad, the Railroad Tycoon Info Archive, and Molse’s German RRT site are also archived here.
A lot of these maps require the Coast to Coast Expansion and/or the 1.05 Patch. Some warn you of this requirement, and some do not. Since any older maps will play without issues on 1.05, it is strongly recommended that you install the Coast to Coast Expansion and the 1.05 patch if you have not already done this. Make sure you install the Coast to Coast Expansion before installing the 1.05 Patch.
Some of these maps require the Unofficial 1.06 Patch. This requires installing the Coast to Coast Expansion and the 1.05 Patch first.
Railroad Tycoon 3 User-created Add-ons
This section is chock full of add-ons for Railroad Tycoon III that have been created by members of the forum. These creations are not required for playing most maps, but can add a lot of enhancement to your game play and help to heighten your enjoyment of the game.
Note that occasionally a map may require some specific add-ons. These are usually mentioned in the map description, and included with the map zip. If any add-ons are required for a map they must be installed before you attempt to open the map in the game.
Please do read any instructions which come with the add-ons before you attempt to use them (unless you prefer the excitement of watching things go haywire, and then trying to figure out what went wrong).
Official patches
The unofficial 1.06 patch
The «Official» Final Version Release of the «Un-Official» RT3 1.06 Patch by Milo, Bombardiere & Crew.
The 1.06 patch is only necessary for maps that state this requirement. The Coast to Coast Expansion and the 1.05 Patch are required before installing the 1.06 patch. Note that maps created in Version 1.05, or earlier versions, may not play as intended in 1.06.

Other unofficial patches
RT3 can have problems running on newer computers and operating systems. The best solution is to run the game in conjunction with dgVoodoo. This is easy to set up, and gives very good results.
The following two items are old attempts at fixing RT3’s problems with some newer graphics cards. These old fixes are not really recommended anymore. dgVoodoo is a better option for most people.

Railroad Tycoon 3 history
In 2003, Pop Top released Railroad Tycoon 3. Amid much hoopla, touting their new 3D Graphics, RRT3 sold briskly. After 5 years of playing RRT2, fans were ready for the new genre.
Admittedly, the 3D world of this new version was quite appealing to me. Camera movement was greatly improved and the animation of the factories, maintenance facilities, clouds, weather, and water was pretty neat to watch.
There were also some vast improvements in the Editor. No longer did you have to understand scripting to set up events. Just point and click. Of course you still have to understand how events work, but at least you don’t have to try and figure out how to write it, although the new ‘point & click’ scheme did limit event scripting somewhat.
This version also included a Map Builder, a feature that gives the opportunity to grab a small patch of land mass anywhere in the world, and create a map with close to real world terrain. Mountains and valleys are easily created.
Unfortunately, it would seem the creation of this 3D world gave rise to sacrificing some of the features that were available in the earlier version, that or the creators just decided to leave them out for some reason. No longer could you drop a shipment off at a station to be later picked up by another train (later added back in with the release of the ‘UnOfficial’ 1.06 patch). Hauling freight that was not profitable was also an option sadly missed (again, added back in with the ‘UnOfficial’ 1.06 patch). On top of all that, this version shipped with a gaggle of bugs.
Granted, Pop Top issued a few patches in an attempt to correct these glitches, and were successful for the most part, but it seems the developers just decided to abandoned their posts and RRT3 still has a few bugs that may never get worked out (a few of these bugs were addressed in the 1.06 patch).
In spite of it’s shortcomings, end users managed to produce a proliferation of maps and scenarios, which can be found right here in the RT3 Map Archive. They’ve also created a gaggle of add-ons, which can be found on the User-created Add-ons pages.

General: The 1.02 patch resolves a number of issues, especially in multi-player (some out-of-synch and crashing issues), as well as assorted single player issues (especially a crash-on-launch issue on certain Win 98 machines, and a stability issue seen on a small minority of computers – issues 1 and 2 in the Single Player/General section detailed below).
Multiplayer
Note: Players with the 1.02 patch CAN NOT play Multiplayer games against players with 1.00 or 1.01 versions of the game. The 1.02 patch greatly improves multiplayer stability and reduces out-of-synch issues, so we strongly encourage all multiplayer gamers to use this patch.
1. Fixed some general Out-of-synch issues that, in the older version, decreased stability and caused other oddness (track not being in the same place on all player’s PCs)
2. Fixed a bug where the game would crash if the chat window was opened when another event window would appear.
3. Fixed some cases where a player’s game could crash if the host kicked that player out.
4. Added new connect message alerting the player if they try to join a game that has already been started.
5. Fixed a bug where the game might crash if a player tried to join a game just moments before the host started that game. In this situation the host might timeout waiting for the player to respond appearing as if the game has hung.
6. Fixed a bug where hourglass mouse cursor would not appear when launching the game from Gamespy Arcade.
Scenarios
First 3 maps are campaign maps, last 5 are stand-alone scenarios
Note: All these fixes are incorporated within the patched program file (RT3.EXE) and applied to the maps when loaded – there’s no need to download new map files.
1. State of Germany: Fixed certain effects/bonuses that were reversed between Hannover and Bavaria choices
2. Dutchlantis: Gold event will now fire off within one week of achieving it, rather than at end of year only.
3. Britain: Connection condition will only trigger if your company achieves it not if A.I. company achieves it.
4. Tex-Mex: Briefing in multiplayer listed incorrect scenario duration – the scenario lasts 20 years in multiplayer.
5. New Beginnings: Win conditions will only trigger if your company achieves them, not if A.I. company achieves them. Briefing clarifies that your company (not an A.I. company) must connect cities.
6. Italy: You now continue to receive additional track allotments after the scenario ends, if you keep playing.
7. Southeast US: Two rivers had been misnamed – fixed now.
8. Southeast Australia: Fixed Steam marketing event so it concludes successfully.
Editor
1. Fixed so it no longer crashes when loading very large heightmap TGAs.
2. Fixed so that when loading a map in editor mode, game year is automatically set to year of scenario (useful for adding electric track to modern maps).
3. Added a ‘Set Cash’ option when viewing company detail screens in editor mode, for easier setup of companies.
Railroad Tycoon 3 v1.03 (ENG)
Version 1.03 Changes
General: The 1.03 patch fixes bugs, adds a number of frequently requested interface
features, and also has two major gameplay balance adjustments.
First, the A.I. is now much stronger. Second, the amount of passengers and mail
produced late in games has been significantly reduced. The combination of these
two changes results in many scenarios being somewhat harder to win.
There are also a number of smaller game balance tweaks.
Scenarios
42. Chicago to New York Repositioned Louisville so it is south of the Ohio river,
as it should be.
43. France: Fixed French/German border for correct post-1945 positioning.
44. Germany: Fixed Austrian alliance event to properly give access rights to
Austria.
45. Central Pacific (Campaign) : Removed ledger status information about track
built that had been displaying incorrectly.
Editor
46. Fixed Special Condition ‘Disable Issuing and Buyback of stock’ so that the
game correctly disables the buyback buttons when this condition is on.
47. Added Validation for Game Year/Month event condition to ensure that it is
not used for annual events.
48. You can now import heightmaps at sizes up to 1024 x 1024 (previous cap was
768 x 768 for square maps).
49. You can now remove access rights for a territory that a company already
has access to, by selecting that territory in the company detail panel, territories
tab, in the list box.
50. Fixed a bug when where adding a new event and then using the ‘Move Up’ button
could cause some of the event data and text to be overwritten.

Игра не запускается

О: Скорее всего проблема в поврежденных файлах игры. В подобном случае рекомендуется переустановить игру, предварительно скопировав все сохранения. В случае если игра загружалась из официального магазина за сохранность прогресса можно не переживать.
Railroad Tycoon 3 не работает на консоли.
О: Обновите ПО до актуальной версии, а так же проверьте стабильность подключения к интернету. Если полное обновление прошивки консоли и самой игры не решило проблему, то стоит заново загрузить игру, предварительно удалив с диска.
Ошибка 0xc000007b.
О: Есть два пути решения.
Первый — полная переустановка игры. В ряде случаев это устраняет проблему.
Второй состоит из двух этапов:
Ошибка 0xc0000142.
О: Чаще всего данная ошибка возникает из-за наличия кириллицы (русских букв) в одном из путей, по которым игра хранит свои файлы. Это может быть имя пользователя или сама папка в которой находится игра. Решением будет установка игры в другую папку, название которой написано английскими буквами или смена имени пользователя.
Ошибка 0xc0000906.
О: Данная ошибка связана с блокировкой одного или нескольких файлов игры антивирусом или “Защитником Windows”. Для её устранения необходимо добавить всю папку игры в исключени. Для каждого антивируса эта процедура индивидуально и следует обратиться к его справочной системе. Стоит отметить, что вы делаете это на свой страх и риск. Все мы любим репаки, но если вас часто мучает данная ошибка — стоит задуматься о покупке игр. Пусть даже и по скидкам, о которых можно узнать из новостей на нашем сайте.
Отсутствует msvcp 140.dll/msvcp 120.dll/msvcp 110.dll/msvcp 100.dll
О: Ошибка возникает в случае отсутствия на компьютере корректной версии пакета Microsoft Visual C++, в который и входит msvcp 140.dll (и подобные ему). Решением будет установка нужной версии пакета.
После загрузки и установки нового пакета ошибка должна пропасть. Если сообщение об отсутствии msvcp 140.dll (120, 110, 100) сохраняется необходимо сделать следующее:
Ошибка 0xc0000009a/0xc0000009b/0xc0000009f и другие
О: Все ошибки начинающиеся с индекса 0xc0000009 (например 0xc0000009a, где на месте “а” может находиться любая буква или цифра) можно отнести к одному семейству. Подобные ошибки являются следствием проблем с оперативной памятью или файлом подкачки.
Размер файла подкачки должен быть кратен 1024. Объём зависит от свободного места на выбранном локальном диске. Рекомендуем установить его равным объему ОЗУ.
Если ошибка 0xc0000009а сохранилась, необходимо проверить вашу оперативную память. Для этого нужно воспользоваться функциями таких программ как MemTest86, Acronis, Everest.
Игра тормозит и лагает
Скорее всего данная проблема носит аппаратный характер. Проверьте системные требования игры и установите корректные настройки качества графики. Подробнее об оптимизации игры можно почитать на форуме. Также загляните в раздел файлов, где найдутся программы для оптимизации Railroad Tycoon 3 для работы на слабых ПК. Ниже рассмотрены исключительные случаи.
Появились тормоза в игре.
О: Проверьте компьютер на вирусы, отключите лишние фоновые процессы и неиспользуемые программы в диспетчере задач. Также стоит проверить состояние жесткого диска с помощью специализированных программ по типу Hard Drive Inspector. Проверьте температуру процессора и видеокарты —возможно пришла пора обслужить ваш компьютер.
Долгие загрузки в игре.
О: Проверьте состояние своего жесткого диска. Рекомендуется удалить лишние моды — они могут сильно влиять на продолжительность загрузок. Проверьте настройки антивируса и обязательно установите в нём “игровой режим” или его аналог.
Railroad Tycoon 3 лагает.
О: Причинами периодических тормозов (фризов или лагов) в Railroad Tycoon 3 могут быть запущенные в фоновом режиме приложения. Особое внимание следует уделить программам вроде Discord и Skype. Если лаги есть и в других играх, то рекомендуем проверить состояние жесткого диска — скорее всего пришла пора заменить его.
Проблемы с модами
Ошибки загрузки/обновления
Проверьте стабильность подключения к интернету, а также скорость загрузки. При слишком высоком пинге или низкой пропускной способности обновление может выдавать ошибки.
Если магазин или лончер Railroad Tycoon 3 не завершает обновления или выдает ошибки, то переустановите саму программу. При этом все скачанные вами игры сохранятся.
Запустите проверку целостности данных игры.
Проверьте наличие свободного места на том диске, на котором установлена игра, а также на диске с операционной системой. И в том и в другом случае должно быть свободно места не меньше, чем занимает игра на текущий момент. В идеале всегда иметь запас около 100Гб.
Проверьте настройки антивируса и “Защитника Windows”, а также разрешения в брандмауэре. Вполне возможно они ограничивают подключение к интернету для ряда приложений. Данную проблему можно решить и полной переустановкой магазина или лончера т.к. большинство из них попросит предоставить доступ к интернету в процессе инсталляции.
