Довольно большой и не простой, но в то же самое время интересный мод, который добавляет в игру потребность в гигиене, а так же различные туалетные нужды.
Теперь вы сможете строить системы водоснабжения и канализацию. Чтобы ваши колонисты были счастливы при принятии душа, необходимо всегда иметь запасы горячей воды, подогреваемой котлом.
Раньше ваши жители грелись у обогревателей, а с этим модом появится возможность строить батареи.
И многое другое вы найдете в Dubs Bad Hygiene.
Внимание! Мод можно добавлять в существующее сохранение, но потом не просто удалить оттуда.
Для работы мода требуется: Harmony.
Для того, чтобы установить мод для игры Rimworld необходимо скопировать папку из скачанного архива по пути Путь к установленной игре\Rimworld\mods и включить мод в меню.

How do you delete a recipe? I chose to burn all that waste far away from my base xD Or Store it until i have time to burn it. Maybe next time i will just spill it. I didnt really figure out what kind of bad thing that does yet. 😛
Also i discovered thirst and Survival Mode. Very interesting.

Its really a nice mod. I wasn´t quite sure at the start but the more i use it the more natural it feels for the pawns to have a hygiene need ( i mean. ofc they do.). And i really start to love the ways i can design bathrooms now : D
The hygiene need fits in really well and the mood debuff and boost are fair.
The only thing i think is unbalanced is that u can turn waste into biofuel just like that.
That basically makes every pawn into a free biofuel producer and i dont like that.
If only there would be some kind of refinement option that uses waste and other resources combined. Like 10 waste + 10 food + 10 biofuel = 40 fuel or smth. Or delete it and make it annoing to have waste. But thats just my suggestion. ( i can still choose not to do it :P)
So all together this mod is really nice and once you have it u probably forget it is a mod after some time. Do recommend 🙂

Rimworld мод dubs bad hygiene
When I first got Dub’s Bad Hygiene I had a lot of trouble finding resources on it. For some the task of setting up all the plumbing may seem a little daunting, but once you know everything’s purpose it’s not difficult at all. So I decided to whip together this guide to getting started, plus a little extra information on some of the cool things the mod adds.
Before we start I’d like to clarify something. The goal of this guide is to get you started with Dubs Bad Hygiene and teach you how to set up the various systems at play. This guide won’t be teaching you how to troubleshoot any bugs or create addon content or anything like that.
Good? Let’s get started!
With this mod comes new needs, mainly Bladder and Hygiene. This means your colonists will have to periodically use the bathroom and wash themselves, respectively.
There is also an optional «Thirst» need that can be enabled in the mod settings, however this need can be fulfilled at any water source, which you will already have to fulfill your colonists’ hygiene needs anyway.
In the early game, colonists will fulfill these needs by bathing in the nearest water source, such as a lake or a river, and going to the bathroom out in the open. This is not ideal, as you cannot pick where water sources are on your map (also groundwater can be contaminated, something we’ll visit later in this guide), and your colonists get a mood debuff from going to the bathroom in the open.

To remedy this, you can make increasingly effective buildables that will fulfill these needs. Later ones will require research, and the very latest ones are so luxury that they actually provide a mood buff when used (outside of the normal mood buffs like «clean»).
Pictured are the different structures you can build to fulfill colonist needs. At the top are the most basic and at the bottom, the most advanced (with the exception of the bathtub and basin).
The latrine and water tub do not require a pipe system and function manually. Once in a while your colonists will have to manually unload fecal sludge from the latrine and fill the water tub with water from the nearest source by hand.
The later builds do require a pipe system, but will pipe away ♥♥♥♥ and pipe back water automatically,
making it easier on your workload.
All builds connected to a pipe system may occasionally become clogged and require a colonist to go and unclog it.
The smart toilet and power shower both provide mood buffs when colonists use them, but are expensive and require further research than the others.
Different buildings that can be used in plumbing systems.
These are what connect all the components of your pipe system together. They work pretty similarly to power conduits, except they transport water. A map of your pipes can be viewed by selecting them in the architect menu, the same way you can with power conduits. They even have an equivalent to the power switch: the Plumbing Valve.
Modules placed on your plumbing network do not need to be in any particular order. As long as they’re attached they will work.
To run your system you will need either a water source, or water storage, however ideally you’ll have both. Water sources range from the primitive well to the deep well.

When placing a well you will be shown where all the water on the map. This includes normally visible water like rivers and lakes, as well as groundwater. By ensuring the radius of your well (if applicable) covers as much water as possible, you can maximize the water drawn by the well. Note that when placing a deep well, the map is different. That’s because it is drawing from a deep water source which does not correspond with rivers and lakes, and cannot be polluted. The deep water well can draw far more water than the others, but takes more research and resources. Like the regular water well, it is powered.
The primitive water well is the cheapest and requires no research, but has no radius, only drawing water from a single square. It also cannot be connected to a pipe network, meaning your colonists will have to manually carry water from the well to whatever appliances require water.
Water storage is self-explanatory. The most basic is the Water Butt, which requires no research to make. All water storage buildings can be connected to a pipe network. If a pipe network does not have water storage, it will draw directly from the well. Think of these as being similar to batteries in a power network.
Pumps are required for a pipe system to work. A system without one will not be able to transport water between appliances. The most basic is the wind-powered pump, however, like the wind turbine, it is unreliable, and pumps at varying speeds or sometimes not at all. The other pumps are more powerful and reliable, but require electricity, research, and resources such as steel and components.
If your colonists are having massive disgusting diarrheas and pisses in your water system, you will need a form of water treatment. Otherwise, your drinking water will become contaminated and your colonists will drink/shower in their own ♥♥♥♥ and piss and get extremely sick and unhappy.
There are two main ways to prevent this. The first way is to use a Sewage Outlet. This will dump all the waste into an area around the pipe, expelling it from the system. As you can imagine, this has terrible beauty and cleanliness ratings and is disgusting to colonists, and it can contaminate water sources, so be sure to pipe it far away. Waste on the ground can be collected and turned into fecal sludge, the same item harvested from full latrines or from draining a septic tank. Although a waste product, other uses for it can be researched, such as composting it into fertilizer or refining it into chemfuel.
The other method is to use some sort of purification building. The most simple is the septic tank, but for larger systems you will need a water treatment, and later on a sewage treatment. These purify the water without expelling waste, but can still be drained for fecal sludge if desired.
Although not vital, water heating makes showers warm, which your colonists prefer, and is needed for hot tubs, a high-tier recreational activity. It can also be used to heat your buildings with radiators, something we will cover later in this guide.
To heat the water in your system you will need at least one hot water tank to store the hot water, as well as your boiler of choice. There are three kinds of boilers, a log boiler (runs on wood), a gas boiler (runs on chemfuel), and an electric boiler. These will fill the hot water tank(s) over time with water from the connected pipe system.
There’s also a solar heater (not pictured), which uses the sun to heat your water over time.
Here are some examples of working plumbing systems at different game stages. Yours doesn’t necessarily have to look like any of these, as your colony’s needs will differ based on your environment and resources, but you can use these for reference.

Along with the basics, Bad Hygiene adds a lot of extra buildables. Most of these have decent in-game descriptions, but here’s the rundown of each one.
There are two kinds of sprinklers, irrigation sprinklers and fire sprinklers. Irrigation sprinklers, as the name implies, are for helping crops grow by increasing soil fertility. Throughout the day they’ll go off, fertilizing all dirt in their radius. Fire sprinklers are activated by fires or high temperatures and will attempt to put out all fire in their radius.
Litter boxes reduce animal filth by giving small animals a place to poop instead of just on the floor.
Washing machines remove the «Tainted» effect from clothing that pawns died in. This, as you can imagine, is extremely useful, though they do require research to make. You can load five in at a time by selecting a colonist, right clicking on it, and clicking «Load Washing Machine.» Colonists will automatically unload clean clothes. It will only wash tainted clothing, so you don’t need to make a separate stockpile for tainted clothes unless you’re trying to speed up the process.
Putting fecal sludge in a biosolids composter will slowly turn the waste into fertilizer for farming. It operates similarly to putting hops in fermentation barrels.
Kitchen sinks require a plumbing connection and will increase the cleanliness of the room they are placed in. Good for labs, hospitals, and of course kitchens.
Radiators heat rooms using the hot water from your pipe system. There are two kinds of radiators, small and large. These can be controlled by a thermostat.
The ceiling fan cools rooms and takes up no space, allowing furniture to be placed under it. Requires a power connection.
Burn pits are for burning fecal sludge to get rid of it. If you haven’t researched any uses for fecal sludge, this is a useful way to get rid of the ugly and disease-ridden substance. Be sure to build it a good distance from your base and water source.
The air conditioning system is largely unrelated to the water system and is sort of just there to complement the radiators. They use their own pipe network, similar to plumbing or power conduits, called «air-con pipes.» Air conditioning systems require an outdoor air-con unit to pipe in air, and either a walk-in freezer unit or indoor air-con unit to release it into the desired room.
Stall doors are an extremely useful door type added by Bad Hygiene. They block line of sight so that pawns in a stall won’t be embarrassed by people seeing them do their business, but they do not create a separate room, meaning you don’t have to set up a new temperature system just for that stall.
The drinking fountain is very similar to the basin, but is a cool RP tool for base design, especially if you have thirst turned on. It can be used for both drinking and washing.
So hopefully that should give you everything you need to know. There’s a lot of information in-game but no real holistic instructions on making a system, hence this guide.
If I got any details wrong, let me know because I probably did! I’m just one guy who made this thing in a day lol. Hopefully this helps you get started with your save, and good luck!
Here’s where I’ll put any new information suggested to me by readers.
-Apparently the burn pit can burn more than just poop! It also works like a crematorium can for disposing of bodies. Note that unlike the crematorium, the burn pit doesn’t require electricity and is much cheaper, making it good for tribal starts.
-In addition, you can go into the Dub’s Bad Hygiene mod settings and turn on hydroponics integration. This will make hydroponics run on water, so as long as you have water flowing through your system they will continue to function.

-If you have a prison you need to include some kind of toilet and a spot for prisoners to wash themselves (even just a sink or water bucket will do) or the prisoners will get a huge mood debuff over time from having to live in their own filth.
-People in medical beds, be they in a prison or hospital, can be washed by any pawns capable of caring, and will periodically spawn bedpans on the floor which will relieve them of their toilet needs, but need to be cleaned up. This can be done the same way you clean any mess like blood or trash, even though they look sort of like items. They also have a higher cleanliness than if a pawn just took a raw dump on the floor while walking around.
-ONLY people in hospital beds can spawn bedpans or be washed by a carer. If a pawn is moving around freely indoors, they NEED access to facilities or they will quickly cover the floor in unspeakable pawn juices.

Air conditioning
The mod includes a multi-split air conditioning system, it is similar in function to the central heating when it comes to pipes and capacity, it basically behaves like a vanilla AC unit but with the cold end and the hot end split, you have an outdoor unit which you place… outdoors, this provides cooling capacity and has a power setting. Then you pipe it to multiple freezer units which can be placed inside of, or as walls for… freezers these have thermostats in a range for freezing food. There are also indoor units which you place… indoors, they are used for general room cooling and have a smaller thermostat range than freezers and have a much smaller capacity. The outdoor units will lose efficiency in hot weather like standard rimworld AC units, but this can be disabled in the mod options.
The cooling capacity is a simple percentage, the blue bars that are visible on each indoor unit or freezer when selected show the total percent of cooling capacity that is available, so just turn up the power on the outdoor unit then add more until those blue bars are full on all of your coolers, or you can reduce the capacity if the weather is mild to save a bit of power.
There are also ceiling fans which behave like a powered version of the passive coolers, they will attempt to cool a room to 20c and have no settings, the speed that the fan is spinning shows how hard its working, they also include a built in lamp.
Fertilizer
You can produce fertilizer from sewage, which will provide a fertility boost for just under a year when placed on growable terrain. The system for creating fertilizer works exactly the same as brewing beer, just instead of hops its sewage, instead of a barrel its a composter, and instead of beer it produces fertilizer.
First you must research Sewage Sludge Composting, then you can collect sewage from septic tanks by setting the percentage threshold for when it should be emptied by a hauler, or by using the remove sewage designator to extract sewage deposited by sewage outlets on the ground. You then build composters, load the sewage, and wait. The patches of fertilizer are built as a standard construction job and can be deconstructed, they can be destroyed and must be manually replaced once they run out or die.
Like irrigation it should stack with any modded terrain types, use the mod options to adjust the strength to your liking.
Heating
A central heating system is available if you choose to use it, simply connect radiators to your plumbing net and they will use up heating capacity from your boilers in the same way that hot water tanks do. Radiators are limited to 21c and stop heating once that temp is reached, they also retain their heat for a few hours after a boiler is switched off which makes them useful for power cuts as they can keep the chill off until the power comes back on or you get some fires built.
You can add as many radiators and boilers as you need, the red bars that are visible when you select a radiator show the heating capacity, there’s also a capacity reading in the inspect panel, half a bar means they are running at 50% of their total capacity, you just need to turn up the power setting on electric boilers or add more gas or log boilers to raise that total capacity on the pipe net. Large radiators have 3x the capacity of small radiators, the log and gas boilers have the same heating capacity as an electric on max power and have no power setting, gas boilers can be piped directly to fuel tanks from Rimefeller and will work without power.
If you want to be efficient, electric and gas boilers can be controlled with a room thermostat, you use it like a normal house thermostat by placing at least 1 in the coldest or most critical part of your base, like a main corridor connecting to bedrooms, or an indoor grow room. You need to enable the thermostat control on a gas or electric boiler and also on hot water tanks, with everything enabled low room temp or low water temp will enable boilers. If you drop the thermostat setting to 20c which is just below the radiators limit, then your boiler should only do very short pulses in mild weather because radiators stay warm after a boiler is switched off and continue to heat the room.
Hot Water
Colonists like to have hot baths and showers and don’t like cold water, so you must build a hot water tank to store hot water, and 1 of the 3 boilers or a solar heater to heat the water, the tank uses heating capacity just like a radiator. You can control gas and electric boilers by turning on thermostat mode on the hot water tank, it will switch boilers on for 1 hour when the temp gets low saving you money on your energy bills!. An early game low tech option is to place a campfire next to a bath to heat it.
Hygiene
The most important thing to do after landing is build a latrine, a water tub, and a primitive well to fill the tub if you don’t have ponds or rivers, they will wash with the water tub but this will quickly become dirty and need filling with fresh water from the primitive well or surface water, and the latrine will need to be emptied and the waste dumped or burned in a burn pit, after that everything is optional and just makes life easier for colonists. Pawns will search only a small radius for toilets when they are outside of the home area to prevent them making long trips to the bathroom, so make sure a toilet or latrine is nearby if you are off mining on the other side of the map.
Whats the minimum that i need for pawns to be happy?
You only need a latrine, and a water tub for them to wash with. When the water tub becomes dirty it will need to be refilled with water from a primitive well, or ponds, or rivers. The latrine will need to be emptied which produces drums of sewage, these can be hauled to a dumping spot then stored or kicked over, or they can burned as fuel in a burn pit like logs in a campfire, the burn pit also allows you to burn junk, and acts as a heat source in emergencies, both options have a risk of contamination if the pawns stand in the area of burning waste or walk through the sewage they kicked over. This covers basic survival scenarios where you have no other options.
How do i set up a full sanitation system?
For flushing toilets and latrines you need a piped well to access ground water (not primitive), a water tower to store water (not hot water tank), a pump to pump water from the well to the tower (wind pump only works when windy), and a sewage outlet to dump the waste into a river pond or just on the ground.
For showers and baths you need the same water system, but a sewage outlet is not required, and to provide hot running water you need a hot water tank, and 1 of the types of boiler to heat the hot water tank, or if you are low tech and using baths you can heat it by placing a camp fire in an adjacent cell.
What does bad hygiene do and how do i fix it?
Bad hygiene means pawns haven’t washed in a while, it reduces their social stats and makes them more likely to contract diseases, simply give them something to wash with like a water tub, sink, pond, river, showers, baths, or if they are stuck in a hospital bed doctors can clean them by hand.
My fixtures have a flashing broken pipe icon. Whats wrong?
Check that they have a piped connection to the required buildings, showers and baths need a water tower, toilets need a water tower and sewage outlet\septic tank\water treatment plant, and radiators need a boiler. There’s also a blocked drain mechanic where a cleaner needs to go and plunge the drain to clear it, it will read blocked in the inspect tab if that’s the case, this can also happen to sewage outlets if too much sewage has filled the cells around it and its blocked the flow, use the remove sewage designator to clear it and place more sewage outlets or septic tanks to handle the load.
My pawns, are getting sick after using a toilet! Help.
Using a toilet, or walking through sewage can contaminate a colonist. If the colonist then doesn’t wash within a couple of days they can contract diseases like diarrhea and cholera. If there is a nearby basin or water tub then they will automatically wash their hands after using the toilet, and make sure they have enough facilities to wash daily. Washing hands\taking a shower removes contamination completely and also removes any carried dirt. Being contaminated also increases chance for food poisoning so make sure your cooks are washing their hands after using the loo.
Why are my colonists urinating on the floor around the toilet and not in the toilet?
My water tower says its contaminated, how did it happen and how can i stop it? To fix a contaminated water tower first solve the source of contamination, then press the drain button on the tower to empty it. Or you can research and build a water treatment system which can clean all contaminated water and water towers. Water towers become contaminated if any connected well has a source of pollution within its area. If enough sources of pollution are detected that it can cause contamination of a water tower then an alert message should appear explaining exactly what is causing the pollution. Sources of pollution include sewage, dead bodies, deep drills, graves, burn pits, ash, poison ships, oil spills from Rimefeller, toxic fallout, and anything else that modders have patched into the pollution types def in bad hygiene.
Can i build hidden underground pipes?
There is a mod setting to change how pipes are rendered, by default pipes are visible above ground and hidden under constructed floors, you can change the setting to hide them completely
Irrigation
If you have an abundance of water then you can make use of the irrigation sprinklers, these will turn on at 5am every morning for exactly 1 hour, providing a boost to fertility which slowly wears off over the day as the water evaporates. They will use thousands of litres of water so make sure you have enough supply or isolate the tank from your normal plumbing system so people dont run out of water to flush the toilets. Fire sprinklers are also available, they react to room temperature or nearby fire and can be manually triggered. Irrigation should stack with any modded terrain types, use the mod options to adjust the strength.
There are several extra items which can either be cosmetic items, or have a function if certain mod options are turned on, kitchen sinks offer a cleanliness boost to a room or can be used for drinking water if the thirst need is enabled, litter boxes will be used by cats if pet bladder is turned on. Washing machines can be stared at for hours by bored colonists, or used to remove the stench of corpse bile from clothes.
Mod Options
There is a long list of sliders which allow you to tweak multipliers for most of the important things like bladder rates, hygiene rates, irrigation, terrain fertility, how much sewage and fast fast it can spread and so on, hover over the option to see a tooltip.
The Rimatomics and Rimefeller link options will add a water requirement to specific buildings from those mods, they will need to be piped and may use large amounts of water.
You can enable or disable specific needs, this can be done while the game is running, there is also a needs filtering option which allows you to disable or enable needs based on pawns race or body types or for active hediffs, like if something becomes a zombie and it resets what needs a pawn should have. These can be modified in the defs too using patches.
Privacy
Thirst
You can enable a thirst need in mod settings, this adds a basic thirst need that colonists will need to keep satisfied by eating food and drinking from fountains, sinks, water tubs or surface water. If water is contaminated they will have a high chance of getting sick.
All food types including modded foods have water content, when the food bar is above 50% it will transfer water to the thirst bar, below 50% the thirst bar will start to fall again, so a colonist can stay alive only eating food and not drinking, but they will be in a constant state of mild dehydration which makes them grumpy and sickly but also increases hunger so they eat more food for the water content.
Doctors can administer fluids to patients that are bedridden.
There are no bottles of water because their carried food contains water. Water butts can be filled and carried with caravans to supply water, as the water is used the water butt reduces in weight and value.
Water
For plumbed running water you will need a piped well (NOT Primitive), water pump, and storage tower. Build wells over the blue highlighted water grid areas. Rivers and ponds automatically generate ground water, a specific kind of pipe or well is not required to access river water just use normal wells.
Build either an electric pump or wind pump to pump the water, and a water tower to store the water.
The pumps have a capacity and so do the wells so try and match them up, for example if it reads 50% piped pump/ground capacity then you can add more pumps to make use of unused ground capacity, if it reads 100% and the pump capacity is much high
Mod Compatability
Prison Labor will randomly throw a wealth watcher exception during start up which causes the map load to fail and breaks everything, if this happens a warning message will be displayed, you have to just cross your fingers and reload to fix it.
