If you want peace, prepare for war.
This mod collection is a total conversion for Rome II with a historical approach, keeping a balance with the gameplay, and aiming for a more challenging and epic experience.
Adaptation of Ancient Combat Mod designed to work better in conjunction with Para Bellum Units pack. For this purpose this version adds some extras like more formations, custom spacing between the different units, more differentiated abilities between the Hellenic line troops for a wider tactical variety, including new animations for hoplites and phalanx, like holding their spear overarm.

Though I recommend to use all the modules together, they can work separately so you can apply what you want, but keeping the order regardless of the number of subscribed parts.
— Save game and compatibility with other mods will depend on each case: The Campaign module should work with vanilla saved games and non-campaign mods, probably with some campaign mods and unlikely with big overhauls. The Factions part is incompatible with any mod that changes the startpos file. The rest of the parts should be compatible with non campaign/big overhauls mods, and the Weather and the Effects even with these. In any case, as there are many possible combinations, the best and fastest way to know is to try it by yourself.
— Multiplayer compatibility only if both players have exactly the same contents (mods and/or GEMFX installed and subscribed).
— Compatible with all DLC campaigns and contents.
— Ancestral Update (Patch 20) compatible.
This mod would have not been possible without the modders who very kindly gave me permission to use their terrific content in this project. My sincerest thanks and appreciation of incredible hours of hard work and dedication, goes to:

This mod collection is a total conversion for Rome II with a historical approach, keeping a balance with the gameplay, and aiming for a more challenging and epic experience. Every aspect of the game has been revamped and adapted to achieve a unique experience: graphics, interface, campaign and battle mechanics and artificial intelligence, units that in many cases include regional variations, special effects and weather; are some of the parts that have been thoroughly revised, combining aesthetics and gameplay, to evoke Antiquity in all its splendor.
Remember that below in the description you have the translations and instructions to install GEMFX, with a custom profile, to achieve more vivid and realistic lighting.
Includes most of the Para Bellum mods. You can find the features and details of each one in their respective descriptions:

1. Go into Options-> Mods in the game menu and enable the use of user Script mods.
Or manually set the preset in GEMFX:
— GEMFX tab: just tick No Gem Shader and Ambient light (GodRays optional).
— SweetFX tab: HDR (Power 0.8, Radius 0) and Vibrace (Amount 0.05, Balance RGB=1). You may adapt the values depending on your preferences or monitor calibration.
Optionally, the HDR effect can be deactivated (especially if there is any graphical glitch, what can happen with some old graphics card models). To do this open the GEMFX_Configurator.exe (which is in the main folder of the game) and in the SweetFX tab disable the HDR box and click on «Save configuration».

You can use Para Bellum in combination with Benjin Generals (place these mods above Para Bellum in the Mod Manager), but as a total overhaul, this mod is not very likely to be compatible with many other mods.
— Multiplayer compatibility only if both players have exactly the same contents (mods and/or GEMFX installed and subscribed).
— Compatible with all DLC campaigns and contents.
— Ancestral Update (Patch 20) compatible.

Based on some of the best unit mods for Rome II, like Ancient Armies and Haegemonia, I tried to preserve the high quality and the historical look they bring. It also adds factional variations for certain units, for example the different hoplites types (militia, light, picked, etc.) of the GC and WoS look different in each faction, so the panoply varies with different equipment typologies, custom shield designs, etc. This way there are more than 75 different hoplites. Also there is a lot of diversity between the iberians and celtiberians, and for the pikemen units. This feature is still WIP and will be expanded eventually in future updates.
