Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion
Full conversion mods may crash the game if enabled and run without first restarting the game. This may be due to the engines 2GB RAM limit. The game has already loaded all the original assets and once it starts to load the mods assets, reaches the 2GB limit and soon crashes. This is easily avoided by restarting the game after you enable a full conversion mod, or editing the EnabledMods.txt manually.
Community made mods are shared by uploading a compressed archive to a file hosting service like ModDB or FileFront. Once you have selected and downloaded the mod, it will require a program to open the mod archive for extraction.

Once you are able to open the compressed archive and view the files and folders inside, it is time to find where to place your new mod.
The easiest way to find where to place the mod is through the game menu. Select «Options» in the main menu the select «Mods» then «Show Mod Path». Pressing «Show Mod Path» should create the folder if there is not one already.

There are 2 different folders for Rebellion mods, the released folder with version, and the developer folder with version.
vX.XX is the version of Rebellion. There may be multiple folders for different versions of each upgrade. Place the mod in the most current version folder only if the mod was made for that version. Older version folders or the mods in them are no longer used by the game.
The mod tab of the main menu options is where most of the magic happens with enabling mods.
Assuming you’ve found the correct mod folder in the section above, all the mods the game can find will be listed on the left. Select the mod you want and hit the enable mod button to add it to the enabled mods list on the right.
While the mod has not yet been enabled, you will probably notice a change in the checksum number on the upper right (some purely visual or sound mods may keep a checksum of 0). This number is unqiue for every combination of mods, and is used to determine that two players are running the same mod for multiplayer. If you are having difficulty with any mod, a good first step is to make sure the checksum matches the one from the download page or the readme file.
You may then procede to enable additional mods (more on that in the next section) before hitting the apply changes button. This will cause the game to reload with the mods you enabled activated. Assuming this is successful, your mod will now be loaded. The game will also now load the selected mods when the game starts up.
One word of caution; certain large total conversion mods may crash when you attempt to enable them with the in game mod tab. This is due to a bug in how the game unloads the vanilla resources. For these mods you will need to apply them by editting the Enabled-Mods.txt file found in your mod folder. See the installation instructions of the specific mod for details on how to do this.
The above issue should now be resolved in the latest version of Rebellion.
The previous section has all you need to get a simple singular mod working. But what happens if you want to run multiple mods at the same time? It doesn’t take long for them to quickly get out of hand, and a single mistake can cause your game to crash even if there are no problems with the mods.
There are several reasons why you may want to enable several mods at one time. The most basic is that you like both of them and want to use them together. Sadly Sins mod system is not the best at doing this, and in general most large mods will crash if you try to use them together. However, you would likely be able to run a mod that improves weapon particles, a mod that changes the music, and a mod that disables superweapons without issue since these mods deal with fairly narrow areas.
However, it is possible that these three mods may require a specific mod order to run correction. Lets say that the mod that improve weapon particles (a visual mod) needs to change the Novalith cannon in order to use the new particle. Well, you already have a mod that changes the Novalith cannon, so the game cannot use both changes. You need to tell it which mod to prefer if there is a conflict. This is done with your Mod Order. In this case, since loads the mods at the bottom of the mod order first, then goes one at a time loading each mod above it. As a result, the mod at the top of your mod order will have the final preference, so in this case we’d want to have Disable Superweapons mod above the graphics mod so that the Novalith is diabled, and every other unit in the game has their shiny new weapon particles.
Also worth noting is that larger mods have add-ons that allow players to customize the mod since it is generally not possible to use these mods with other mods. These type of mods typically have a single «core» mod which contains the minimum or default features, and then the add ons will add or modify certain specific things. Usually you will need to place the core mod at the bottom of your mod list, though you should always check the mod’s instructions for specific details on mod order.
One of the most common mistakes is having a MyMod x.x.x folder with the MyMod folder inside that.

Always read the README.txt file with any mod first.
There is a common bug within Sins of a Solar Empire that with some mods the in game feature to enable a mod wont work. To combat this alot of Mod Dev teams include a file and instructions to manually enable their mod before you launch the game.

How can’t people know how to install this after reading the readme? (If they don’t read it, it’s their god damn fault)
This was my first Sins mod. In defense of the stupids (some anyway) I would have first guessed to put the mod in the Steam location. This was not the case. You still put the mod in the My Games location whether you have the game on Steam or not.
There is a perfectly good readme that explains everything!
I read the readme! It didnt say anything specifically about steam though so I thought i needed to compensate.
I checked the workshop first to see if it was there but no, the game doesn’t evne use it.

If it was a perfectly good readme it would tell me the version i needed for the mod to work, the version isen´t specified so i don´t know if it dosen´t work because of the version or because i unpacked the zip incorrectly. It could be anything for all i know.

Some people might be new to the whole modding thing and litterly has no idea what to do. So stop being such a smartass just because it’s obvious to you.
the problem for me is that when I down load the mod its not even in a zipped form. it just sends me in circles between downloading it and searching the web. I really want to try this mod. now I am using a mirror because when I try and download it from the main my virus scan blocks it and I just don’t want to take a chance.
I really would like to get this mod and try it, the mod looks amazing. I thank you for your time to read this.
Are you sure you have a program that can unzip files like WinRAR, 7zip or something?
When I unzip the file with winzip I put it or maybe it put itself, I don’t remember as its been a few days. I open my docs, find the folder, open the folder and I should find the readme? Right? I see the armada 3 file and a windows x64 tools file but no readme. So far I have not found the readme in either of those folders. Where have I gone wrong?
I also followed the video above and still load rebellion rather than A3 through steam.
Finally got it installed. I can play single player now but can not play tutorials, I get an file error then a crash. Any thoughts?

they changed their installer, it’s not a zip it’s an exe for the 1.0 now, the hotfix I’m not sure.
still having issues loading the game once I downloaded the file. Also can not find the readme file

For me, the original Sins of A Solar Empire Rebellion installed to my AppData/Local/Ironclad Games Sins Of A Solar Empire. I don’t have any of the other folders you’ve mentioned in the video. Nothing is the same and I’m using Windows 7. No mods installs.
I can’t find a readme. I’ve installed the exe but no file to open to play it. The video above wasn’t helpful as it talked about reading the readme (no readme found) and playing the game once before following his instructions (cant find a file to play it). help!

I’m guessing that the mod path is incorrect. If your Sins is up to date with your version then the default path for this mod might be slightly different than your in game settings path.
Ie, mine said «C:\Users\yourname\Documents\my games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\Mods-Rebellion v1.82» in game yet the path it wanted to install too was «C:\Users\yourname\Documents\my games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\Mods-Rebellion v1.80» the last part «v1.80» is different, I changed it to my game path «v1.82» and all was Trekie 😉

I can’t get it to work. Downloaded SoaSE: Rebellion a week ago. I have Windows 8.1. Then ran the STA3_V10_INSTALL.exe. And the Hotfix after that (without checking if it was needed). Nothing. Still just original Sins that starts.
In the «Mods-Rebellion v1.80» folder there is a folder called «Installer test» with a success.txt, so I assume it worked?
Checked the Options in game. But it looks for mods in the «Mods-Rebellion v1.82» folder, not the «Mods-Rebellion v1.80». I assume I should switch this around or something?

ok so i do everything the read me says C; drive/ users/ «my user» / i do not have AppData or anything after so i dont know what to do

How do I get sins to work after uninstalling this mod. Was an amazing mod and used to let me play with other mods but now it has taken over my Sins. I have completely removed sins and all the mod directories and everything and it still comes up with this mod on. Please assist if anyone knows how to fix it. Has ruined my Sins by crashing anytime I try to do anything aside from play Star Trek.

i downloaded star trek armada 3 and got it working, but it only works for a few minutes before it sends me back to my steam home page. When I downloaded it it didn’t even have a read.me file. Has it been edited or is there anything else I need for it.

Infinite Space
В описании к Infinite Space на сайте говорится, что это «визуальный мод», однако он делает гораздо больше, чем просто обновление графики.
После установки дополнения в игре появится более 70 различных типов планет, включая все планеты нашей солнечной системы! Кроме того, Infinite Space добавляет 6 совершенно новых типов планет, которые можно открыть с помощью исследований.
Distant Stars
Заядлые фанаты Solar Empire наверняка знают Distant Stars, поскольку это один из самых популярных модов сообщества. Он был создан достаточно давно, поэтому кочевал от игры к игре довольно-таки много раз.
Сама модификация условно разделена на две категории: одна заменяет музыку и работает над звуком, оптимизирует игру и вносит изменения в геймплей, а другая – включает несколько оригинальных функций, таких как новые небесные тела, улучшения графики и несколько визуальных эффектов.
Enhanced 4X Mod

Crazy

Sins of the Fallen

Тут-то в игру и вступает Maelstrom! Мод добавляет возможность поиграть за Пиратов, а также Репликаторов или Нормалинов.
Каждая раса имеет свои уникальные черты, а также уникальное древо исследований, отражающее сильные и слабые стороны.
Помимо рас, Maelstrom добавляет множество нового контента в виде новых планет, звезд, моделей и звуков.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes – Sea of the Stars
Телевидение и кино – очень популярные источники вдохновения для модов, и следующий адд-он основан на японском аниме!

Игроки получат на выбор несколько рас: Тау’ри, Асуране, Гоа’улды, Рейфы и Азгарды. Кроме того, Stargate Invasion включает кастомные модели, способности, исследования, а также музыку и звуки.
Ages Of the Federation
Учитывая, что мы говорим об игре про космос, не упомянуть «Star Trek» было бы настоящим преступлением!
В сообществе есть три солидных мода по мотивам сериала, и Ages Of the Federation – один из них. Он воссоздает особую эпоху «Звездного пути», а именно Четырехлетнюю войну. Sins of a Galactic Empire
Sins of a Galactic Empire – более старый по сравнению с предыдущим мод, однако даже спустя долгое время он все еще жив! В 2015 году модификация даже была удостоена награды «Выбор редакции» в категории «Мод года» по версии сверх популярного ресурса Moddb.
SoaGE очень серьезно относится к лору «Звездных войн» — создатели постарались максимально оставаться в рамках канона. Таким образом, получаем невероятно аутентичный опыт.
Помимо контента по мотивам «Звездных войн», Sins of a Galactic Empire вносит изменения в геймплей, дабы сделать больший акцент на реализме.
Star Wars: Thrawn’s Revenge II: Ascendancy
Thrawn’s Revenge – далеко не новички в сфере моддинга по мотивам Star Wars, поскольку они подарили игрокам Thrawn’s Revenge: Imperial Civil War для Star Wars: Empire at War, вышедшей в 2006 году.
На этот раз они решили создать мод для SoaSE. Действия Ascendancy происходят сразу же после событий оригинальной кинотрилогии: битва при Эндоре только-только завершилась, и развитие последующих событий полностью находится в руках игрока…
Sins of the Prophets
Наши познания в области космоса не ограничиваются «Звездным путем» или «Звездными войнами», поскольку моддеры черпали вдохновение во многих других видеоиграх о космосе.
Так, Sins of the Prophets пересекает вселенную Halo, добавляя некоторых знакомых многим персонажей, а именно лорда Терренса Худа, вице-адмирал Престона Дж. Коула и вице-адмирала Стэнфорда.
Помимо этого мод вводит новую систему исследований на основе лидеров: игрок должен выбрать одного из лидеров фракции, дабы вести исследования.
Dawn of the Reapers
Mass Effect – еще одна безумно популярная серия игр о космосе, сеттинг которой можно с легкостью перенести в SoaSE благодаря моду Dawn of the Reaper.
Он добавляет в игру совершенно новую сюжетную линию, новые фракции, модели, эффекты, а также обновленный пользовательский интерфейс.
Warhammer 40k: Time of Ending (BFG)
Warhammer 40k – это, безусловно, та игра, которая лучше всего сочетается с SoaSE! Действительно, если задуматься, это поистине идеальная комбинация.
