Concrete Armor Blocks (DX11/PBR)

A mod for using stone. Armor for Stations and heavy large ships.

I also uploaded Concrete Tile Blocks for smaller texture/non-deforming blocks as a replacement mod.

Adds:
-Concrete Armor Blocks, duplicate shapes to armor blocks and some extras. requires Concrete Slabs.

Features:
-DX11
-Zero deformation to thrusters (Need to re-test this).. Careful, thrusters may suddenly explode near these since they don’t deform out of the way.
-Easier to destroy than heavy armor with gatling.
-Current block weight 6600kg. 2450 liters to carry 50 slabs weighing 132 kg each.

TODO:
-Finish Build stage models.
-I’m looking into getting large blocks slabs to work, like 1×3 1×5 3×3 5×5 sizes. RoundSlope CubeTopology seems to get them to rotate right when building, but texture doesn’t tile right. (I kinda want to remove these. They don’t look good to me)

Calculations:
They are not solid.
A slab is 0.2 meters thick, leaving a 2.1 meter wide, 9.261 cubic meter space inside. So 6.364 cubic meters would actually be concrete covering the outside. Slab dimensions are 0.5mx0.5mx0.2m making 50 liters.
I decided to use a fraction of what might make sense to use, like light armor blocks use 25: 0.5 x 0.5 meter steel plates to make a 6 sided 2.5 meter cube when 25 is only enough to cover one side. I wanted them to be heavier, so I decided to use about twice what light armor uses of steel plates. The game determines the total mass of a block based on the components that comprise it. I had the slab components set at 150 kg (just changed it to 135 to more closely match the density of stone in the game (which is 1 kg for 0.37 L) and 50 of those weigh 7500kg. Add in the girders (which I also just removed along with iron requirement in slab BP) and you would get the total (which I actually just checked the weight a grid in game to find initially).
The new weight should be 6750 kg with 2500 L making 6.25 trips carrying 8 slabs in 400 L player inventory to make one block.

Armor Extension

It appears I like to start projects and not maintain them.

AQD Armor Expansion should serve as a good replacement. It’s a bit larger in scope but seems to have the required features and ‘skins’ are supported. Do give it a try.

One of the many mods that are designed to expand upon the currently limited armor shapes. All variants support large/small grid sizes, have heavy counterparts and construction models.

Does anyone know what the missing armor mod was called or its workshop ID? I have old builds missing some specific armor pieces, and some of the special slopes from another mod I can no longer find or use.

I have a bunch of archived SBM files from years ago, and many of them I cannot identify due to being removed from the workshop.

As I understand it, the skins rely on a text file that tells the game what materials to swap out. The materials used for the models in this mod are old and I have no idea what their names are since I’ve stopped maintaining them and no longer have the source files, so afaik support can’t be added without remaking most of the mod.

Beton (Concrete armor)

This is updated version of derCoda’s Beton mod.
UPD. Since derCoda updated original mod to DX11, my version will be here (with his permission) because of components rebalance.

What’s new:
— Oxygen compatibility
— DX11 compatibility (DX9 compatible too)
— Full cost and integrity rebalance
— English names for blocks (there were German names in original mod)

This mod includes 10 blocks: 7 concrete blocks, 2 armor plates and one girder block.

i am wondering what the density of this concrete mod is. and serious (i am bricklayer. ) to make concrete you need water, no way around. means at least: use ice. the mix for concrete will be: : 1000 stone, 1000 gravel, 500 cement, 500 ice and this will give a result of 2500 concrete. 1 block is 1000 liter, means 2500 kg.

and i agree that all of the concrete have to be build in the Survivalkit already. Cement is just gravel heated up to 1500 degress celcius about. If a Survivalkit can smelt stone to gravel and ingots, it can heat up the gravel to. I was modifing AWGs concrete shapes mod to more realistic concrete. so am i not sure what shall think about this mod here, how realistic it is at the end. i build my stuff in concrete just with the survivalkit.

So, can you please make again the refinery do its job and make your mod usable in survival mode. Pleeaaaaaase 🙂
